He keeps watching the interior rear view mirror to check up on Zoey.
“I must make her feel at ease for the vacation. God I’m in love with you Zoey. ” He screamed looking happy.

Calvin and Zoey were both sleeping on his king size bed and suddenly, he felt a movement beside him. Since their drive to Allegheny, she didn’t wake up, at first he was scared but then he realized she’s breathing normally.
He felt her moving again and his eyes snapped open, using his hand to trace the lamp cord switch and he turned it on.
His heart skipped thousands of beats when he saw her staring at him.
“Zoey. ” He called but his heart ached when he saw tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Babe. ” He called, wiping her tears but they kept streaming down her cheeks. Calvin sat up and wrapped his hand around her back.
“I’m not gonna leave you, I’m sorry I wasn’t there to save you. I’m Zoey. ” Calvin mumbled with a broken voice. He felt the pain she must be going through.
(She shuttered with a sad voice.) “I feel irritated, I’m don’t understand myself Calvin, I’m a whore–
“You aren’t one and you will never be one. ” Calvin was fast with his reply as he stared deep in her eyes.
“I love you Zoey. Calvin whispered and planted a kiss on her forehead and pulled her tightly into his arms.
After a few minutes, she finally slept off and he took a deep breath. He placed his head on the bed board and slept off.

The distant clattering woke Zoey from her long sleep. The room wasn’t too bright but it was cool. Her eyes noticed a change of environment and she sprang up instantly, memories of what happened to her two days ago came rushing in, she waved off the thoughts as she tried to remember how she got into another room. She drifted to the dream she had.
“Calvin said he loves me. ” She thought and held her forehead as she managed to take a seat.
“Cali. ” She called with a strained voice, it wasn’t loud enough for Calvin to hear from the kitchen. She managed to stand up and went inside the bathroom and washed her face. She came out and headed out of the room.
A slight gasp escaped her lips when she saw how shining the interior was, her eyes roamed around as she stood at the staircase. She glanced at Calvin’s portrait. In a swift, she returned her eyes back to the portrait and looked perplexed at her portrait.
“It wasn’t a dream. ” She thought and groaned when she felt dizzy as a blurry image flashed through her head.
She held her head as the blurry image came rushing, she only remembered voices.
“Zoey came out. Mom. ” She heard in her head and she consciously let out a loud scream and the images stopped coming in.
Calvin rushed out of the kitchen shirtless and his eyes widened when he saw Zoey at the edge of the stairs from the top. He ran up the stairs and pulled her before she accidentally fell down the stairs.
“Are you okay babe? ” He asked worriedly and she nodded indicating she’s fine.
“Oh, my gosh! You scared the shit out of me. Calvin exhaled and pulled her into his broad chest. Zoey relaxes in his arms for seconds and she pulls away from the warm hug.
“Where’s Cali? ” She suddenly asked as she raised her head to look at him.
“I left her at home. Missing her. ” He asked and she nodded. He chuckled and carried her down the stairs. She wanted to ask him one more thing but she felt uncomfortable asking but then, she summoned courage and decided to ask.
“What about Earl? ” She asked as he dropped her on the countertop.
“He’s in the right place, I don’t want you to think about it. ” He uttered with a frown. She bit her bottom lips as she stared at the food he was frying.
“Did I say something to make you feel uncomfortable? ” She asked as she felt guilty.
“Not at all. ” He replied and carried the pot away from the table gas. Immediately Zoey set her eyes on the fire, the blurry images came in again and she shut her eyes tight.
“Go out Zoey, the fire is getting too much? ” She heard the voice and she tried to remember the voice. Calvin paused to look at Zoey and he knitted his brows at her.
“Is she remembering what happened that night? ” He was worried. He took a deep breath and ran his right fingers through his hair. He decided to touch her before she became scared.
“Mommy and daddy are inside. ” She heard a little girl’s voice in her head and she screamed back to reality when she felt someone touch her.
“Calvin! ” She called his name and hugged him instantly as she kept breathing heavily.
“Why are you doing this to me Zoey? ” He thought and hugged her tightly.
“My head is blurry, Calvin. ” She mumbled as tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Sssshhhh! He calmed her down with a lot of kisses on her face.
“You will be fine Zoey. ” He whispered in her ear and she nodded, trying to control her breath.
“Come here and have breakfast. ” He kissed her cheeks and carried her to the dining area. He walked back to the kitchen and carried their plate of food.
“I arranged for you to see a therapist to improve yourself from the incident. ” He raised a conversation as he dug in his food.
“Okay. ” She replied, staring at the portrait that was behind him but a bit far away from the dining room.
“Who is that little girl in the portrait? ” She asked and looked perplexed at her question.
“Don’t you remember your childhood face? ” He asked and she nodded.
“Did she have memory loss from what happened to her during her childhood days. ” He thought and glance at her.
” Okay don’t worry, it’s normal. ” He changed the topic and a knock interrupted their dining moment.
“Are you expecting someone? ” Zoey asked and he shook his head.
