“Don’t you dare think of doing the worst? ” She whispered into his ear and knocked him out. She released a heavy breath and looked at the helpless son of a b*tch lying on the ground. She turned around and walked away leaving him to fight the darkness alone.
Just a few steps away from the bus top. A Range Over stopped by the roadside and she turned to see who it was.
“Calvin. ” She gasped and looked around.
“I got a call to pick you up from school. ” He uttered and Zoey signed.
“Should I get in. ” She asked tiredly.
“Yes but hold on. ” Calvin rushed out of his car and walked to the other passenger seat to open the door for her.
“Thank you. ” She mumbled and took a deep breath when the A/C hit her oily skin. Calvin opened the door and sat down while trying to get his seatbelt.
“How did you know the time I will be done. ” Zoey asked as she used the seatbelt.
“Cali told me your schedules. ” He uttered truthfully.
“Oh! ” She smiled in relief.
“I will take you home. ” He uttered and Zoey nodded while he ignited the car and zoomed off.
“How was the lecture? ” Calvin raised a question.
“It was stressful. Zoey replied how Landon had been on neck. Silence descended when there was no conversation going on. Calvin won’t stop staring at her.
“Is she always quiet? ” He thought.
“That’s for this opportunity Cali. ” He thought and smiled when he noticed how small her lips were.
“They got stuck in traffic, Zoey’s eyes were watching how the streets were going smoothly with their day to day activities and she got glued to a restaurant. That moment her stomach grumbled loudly. Calvin smiled and looked at the traffic light. Zoey turned to look at him.
“Should I ask him to drop me at the restaurant? ” She thought and bit her bottom lips.
“We should stop at the restaurant. ” Calvin mumbled.
“Of course. ” Zoey smiled and undid the seatbelt.
“Would you like to go somewhere cool before going home? ” He asked as he parked his car in the parking area. Zoey hesitated.
“Can I take more time to think about it? ” She asked, trying to avoid his gaze.
“Of course. ” He nodded and got out of his car while Zoey did the same. She looked nervous and it was obvious. Calvin chuckled and took her hand which made her stop. Goosebumps raised on her skin.
“Do I look scary? ” He asked with a sad face.
“No, not at all. You are handsome–
(He interrupts her) “Did you just confess I am? ” He asked, not believing his ears.
“I didn’t mean that, I’m sorry if my words made you think–
“Ssshhh. ” He placed his index finger on her lips. Zoey suddenly grew cold.
“I’m not scared? ” He asked and she nodded.
“Then why are you nervous. ” He asked and withdrew his finger on her lips.
“Have not gone out with her before. I only go out with Cali and the twins and it’s not all the time. ” She replied and summoned courage.
“I love that though, but it’s more like being a nerd. ” Calvin mumbled but he was stunned when Zoey locked hands with him.
“You want something like this. Zoey asked as she raised up their joined hands. He smiled and adjusted it a little as they walked inside the restaurant. They walked to an empty table at the window area by the left.
“Welcome to Rosie Royalty Kitchen. ” A waitress welcomes them and hands them the restaurant menu.
“I will have pasta and chicken—
“Order anything you want. ” Calvin interrupts her. Zoey smiled and turned her face stylishly.
“Zoey. ” Calvin called gently and she looked at him almost in tears.
“Babe.” Calvin panicked not minding what he just called her, Zoey on other hand was taken back by what he meant by *babe* but she shook it off. Calvin already left his seat and he’s seen crouching to the level Zoey was while on seat. The waitress excused them for a brief moment.
“How are you feeling? Did I make you feel uncomfortable? ” He asked worriedly and she took his hand. She used her eyes to communicate with him before taking his hand.
“I’m shy. ” She mumbled and tightened the grip.
“Around me? ” He asked.
“No, among people, among people I’m not familiar with. ” She uttered, trying to avoid his gaze.
“Zoey. ” He called and she managed to look at him.
“Should we have our lunch on a takeaway plate? ” He asked and she looked at him for a brief moment before nodding. He stood up and walked back to the restaurant countertop.
“Gosh! Cali. ” She gritted her teeth.
“She’s trying to get you familiar with guys.” The side of her head and she nodded.
“Maybe, I can get closer to him. He looks friendly and lovely. ” She said and stared at him at the countertop.
“He’s perfect and he’s a bit taller than me, maybe Cali and twins are right, I should try to give it a try. ” She thought and heaved a sigh. “What if I get a heartbreak from this love stuff? ” She thought again, heaven knows she’s confused. The fear of how Jenna cries when she leaves in a relationship stings her heart a bit. Jemma was twice but Cali was once but Jenna was multiple times. She trusts too much and she falls in love easily.
“If he asks me out, will I be able to say Yes. ” She thought while looking through the window.
“What are you thinking about? ” Calvin’s voice pulled her back to reality.
“Imagining where we are going looks like. ” She replied with a bright smile on her lips.
“Come on. Let’s go. ” He uttered and took his car key. Zoey tried to collect one of the restaurant fashion bags from him but he didn’t release one of it. He drops the bags on the back seat and opens the car door for Zoey. He closed the door and walked to his driver’s seat and settled in.
“How many hours is the place from here? ” She asked as she tried the seatbelt.
“Thirty minutes. Are you hungry? ” He asked with a concerned facial expression on his face.
“I’m hungry but I can hold it till we reach the place. ” She replied sincerely.
“Okay. ” He replied as he ignited the car and zoomed out of the restaurant parking area….
