“Hey what’s up?” He asked staring at his mate. She sat on his bed.
“I felt a little scared in my room. ” She hinted hoping he would get what she meant.
“Just try to sleep or go watch TV.” He turned back to his laptop.
“I don’t want to, I will just sleep with you.” She hints again and went into the covers which made Layton turn to her again.
“Gem we both know you can’t sleep here, am an alpha but there something’s I can’t control.” Gemini blushed when she got what he meant.
“Maybe that’s why I came,” Gemini said changing her tone as Layton raised a brow.
“Are you sure? The last time I checked you didn’t want me to.” He said as he got up and sat next to her.
“Last time was because we weren’t that close but now am ready.” She sat up and Layton smiled, even though he felt that they should get married first but the temptation was high so but he couldn’t anyway.
“Look I can’t do this not now but I promise we will once everything is cleared off okay,” Layton advised cause he knew the situation he was in and thought that it was an awful time for them to have kids. Gemini nodded but preferred to sleep with him.
Layton woke up with Gemini by his side and had to go to work. As much as he didn’t want to leave he got up leaving Gemini groaning.
“Where are you going?” She asked sleepily. He turned to her.
“To work.” He headed for the shower.
“Why not just stay in?” She threw the blanket over her head as she always does.
“Can’t or I’ll get fired.” It didn’t take him long to get out of the bathroom and dress in his suit before he left he kissed Gemini on the forehead. Gemini finally got up and made her way to the kitchen where she met Arlene.
“Well, you got up a little early.” Arlene laughed knowing Gemini’s waking time.
“I had a good sleep.” The girl smiled to herself as she ate her breakfast.
“I met Layton he seemed to be in a good mood.” Gemini smiled even more.
“So I knew something happened but I wonder what.” Arlene also smiled but she became worried too at the thought of Gemini getting pregnant. She thought and hoped that they didn’t have sex.
“You know I haven’t seen Strider for a while,” Gemini said bringing Arlene back to reality.
“He’s actually coming back today.”
“What was he doing?” Gemini asked taking her plate to the sink.
“Am not really sure all I know is that it was for some research. ” Gemini nodded.
Layton sat on his desk trying to think and strategies, He somehow feared that his enemies would target Gemini. He thought for a while just then his secretary came in with a bunch of papers.
“I did the paperwork and arranged them in order just like you asked.” She said with a smile and he smiled back.
“Something great must be going on a boss, you never usually smile.” She said and later left. He didn’t notice himself smile and the secretary was right he never usually smiled. He went through the papers and came across some that had something to do with the other packs which were bad, he didn’t really know what it was all about but he knew it was bad once he saw Jones’s face on the papers. Just then he got a phone call from Strider.
“Hey, what’s the news?” Layton felt himself panic.
“Well, it’s not good sir.” He said in a sad tone and just like that, he panicked even more.
“Then tell me.”
“On my way back, I got into a little situation and the southern pack wasn’t there it’s like they moved.”
“To where?” Layton wondered it was old that they would leave their territory just like that.
“Why did they move?” Layton had a lot of questions that needed answers.
“I don’t know I tried to find answers but I couldn’t.” Layton heard him sigh then Layton ended the call. Layton thought heavily and he just couldn’t piece the pieces together. Just then he got a phone call again.
“Hello?” Layton heard Hunters’ voice.
“Yeah is everything okay?”
“Well, we have a problem, Sir….. I think this needs to be discussed in person .” Just as Layton feared, he couldn’t stop thinking of Gemini’s safety and Jones knew Gemini was his mate, he was afraid at his soon-to-be wife would be an easy target.
“Okay, is it that serious?”
“Yeah, it is kind of.” He said and Layton found himself panicking again, he thought he had never been this scared before.
“Striders on his way and he’s not bringing good news. As soon as he arrives tell him to take over Arlene’s job.” All this was sending Layton a painful headache. He didn’t know if he should panic or not, he got too caught up that he forgot the one thing he should focus on.
“What happened?” Hunter asked.
“Strider will explain everything, all this is giving me a headache. I’ll call you later.” Layton ended the call.
