“Am sorry I yelled at you,” Gemini said as she looked at her lap then she heard him chuckle.
“It’s alright, after all, it’s just some days since you came.” He said.
“You know am still curious about that ex of yours, she seemed obsessive are you sure I shouldn’t be worried about her?” She asked.
“No, she knows her place and I told you to stop asking questions.” He turned to her and she couldn’t help but look away, despite the feeling of fear she started to develop little feelings for him.
“I know but am just curious besides you never told me about your parents.” She said biting her lip.
“They died and that’s all you have to know.”
“How did they die?” Layton looked at the girl then sighed, he wasn’t interested in the topic.
“Look we’ll talk about that later right now am just not interested.” He lastly said. She then remembered her mother and how much she missed her.
“Can’t I call anyone from home?” She asked meaning her mother. Layton had her phone taken since she had different contacts.
“No.” Disappointment filled her.
“Okay well, I’ll be in my room if you need me,” Gemini said then got up and headed for her room. She felt the need to talk to him but it looked like he wasn’t in the mood of talking. Arlene walked in holding shopping bags.
“I thought I told you not to leave her alone!” Layton got up and walked towards the woman.
“She told me she had some shopping to do so I told her I could do it for her.” The woman said hoping he would understand.
“Well Andrea came over and it wasn’t pretty.”
“Oh am sorry, I just didn’t think anyone would visit.” Arlene placed the shopping bags on the counter.
“So you were shopping all that time?”
“Not I had to go looking for the kids, they wondered around so I had to look for them.” She turned to him.
“Look I know you’re always busy, it’s just that Strider is out and I need someone to look after her.” The woman sighed then nodded.
“I see you care about her a lot and am glad.” Layton smiled.
“Why not after all she has no one else to love.” Arlene was glad to hear that Layton loved Gemini and after everything he went through she thought that there was no good left in him.
“Any way you can go I’ll take care of everything for now.” He said.
“Alright.” She later left, Layton didn’t understand how he came to trust the woman but he still trusted her and he never regretted it. She had been there and helped him when he needed it most and there was Strider who the alpha never liked at first but as time went on he had no problem with him being beside him. Layton knocked on the door.
“Arlene sent some stuff and better get ready we’re going out.” He lastly said then disappeared. Gemini did as he said, she walked to her closet and picked out the best piece of cloth she could find as Gemini got dressed Layton waited for her in the living room with his fancy suits on, he looked at his wristwatch several times wondering his long she was going to take just then she walked down the stairs, Layton couldn’t help but smile she looked gorgeous and he felt himself fall for her again. Not long before his eyes landed on her dress and noticed that that was the dress his ex wore on their first date too but that didn’t stop him from complimenting her.
“You look amazing.” He admitted and she giggled.
“You too.” Even though it wasn’t the same girl but the dress confused him, he really wished he had burnt.
“What you don’t like this dress? I can change if you want.” Gemini suggested as she read his expression.
“No, it’s just that it suits you I mean I’ve seen a lot of girls wear this type of dress but never seen it suit them like you.” He changed his gaze back to the girl.
“Thanks.” They left the building the building and got in the car. The dress still got in Layton’s head and now he wished he told her about the dress but it did suit her than the way it did with Andrea. Gemini looked out the window and admitted that the city was amazing there were glowing billboards almost everyone and people wandering around. Ever since she came to this place she never really left the pack’s boundaries and she wished she did.
“This place’s amazing, wish I got out often.” She said as she looked out the window.
“But you can’t.” She turned to face Layton.
“Why can’t? It’s not like anything bad is going to happen.”
“This place isn’t safe, you can get kidnapped, murdered and with the police, on our necks, it’s bad not to mention the other packs,” Layton mentioned.
“Thought it was all cleared off?” He shook his head.
“No, I and the rest are still looking at it so for your own safety don’t.” Gemini sighed and nodded.
“Where are we going?” Gemini broke the silence, Layton found her more talkative than most days.
