Chapter 47: How Did Xu Nuo Get to This? (III)

Book:The Slaughterman of Love Published:2024-5-1

Today Luo Junchang wore a formal suit, but the white shirt he wore under the suit had a spice of hidden charisma at a careful look. There were dark spiral lines on the shirt. A man who should choose the shirt of this design must be somewhat depressed in sex or in some other aspects.
When Xu Nuo went out of the bathroom of the coffee house, she was Luo was already sitting there, waiting. She stole out from the back door and then entered the coffee house again from the front door.
Luo Junchang looked up. When he saw Xu Nuo, he was goggle-eyed.
How could she be so different from the girl working in the office?
When at work, Xu Nuo tried to wear as formally as possible to look understated and simple. She would only add on her professional dress a silk scarf at the most. The wrist watch she wore was the one she had always had, a Casio watch with black leather strap. It couldn’t be said as of to quality, but she liked it at the first glance of it.
Yet, going off work, whoever wanted to be a superwoman? So when Xu Nuo let down her hair that usually was coiled up, she looked an easy-going girl, while in fact she spent more than an hour to have her black hair done into large curls and wore the hair down to cover her ears that could be compared with famous Taiwan actress Senior S’s jug ears. She wore a plaid shirt and worn jeans, a light make-up with only one layer of mascara and foundation and light pink lipstick. For this seemingly transparent make-up, Xu Nuo spent two solid hours.
“I hardly recognize you.” In fact, Luo Junchang was going to say “So here you come.” Yet he changed his words when they were just on the tip of his tongue.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Luo. Sorry I got traffic on the road.” Xu Nuo casually sat opposite him,”You have something important to tell me?”
Yet Luo Junchang didn’t know what to say. Seeing such a girl, he suddenly felt a strange feeling, his heart thumped hard. He felt he had been passionless since his ex-girlfriend got married, how could he expect that he would backslide about emotion when facing a subordinate of his.
How beautiful her plaid shirt was. He wondered what was like inside the shirt, what if he unfastened the buttons one by one…?
Luo Junchang was indeed a gentleman, but this gentleman was also a man. Man might have sexual fantasy once every six minutes. Many a time when a woman thought it was a simple behavior, it would have sort of connection with sex in his eyes. He made himself a gray zone in which he was busy with fancies. Sexual fantasy became his vitamins. When men had a glimpse of a sexy neck, or a hot billboard in the subway, or a dubious light on the high building, or when they smelt an unknown flavor of perfume…, they would slightly closed their eyes to enjoy the momentary pleasure.
Xu Nuo saw he slightly closed his eyes.
“I’m so hungry. Can I have some food?” Xu Nuo was really hungry, and it was just time for dinner at five o’clock in the afternoon.
Luo Junchang ordered some dishes and began to ask Xu Nuo for some brief information of hers. After all, it demanded a further knowledge of one before promoting her to a manager of an important department.
A further knowledge. Very ambiguous words.
“Recently I feel you have been under a lot of pressure. I hope I can help to relieve your pressure after taking up the position.” Xu Nuo smiled and handed him a bottle of ice wine. “I’ve brought a bottle of wine from home, for most of the wine sold in the shops are faked. I wonder if you like to drink, but you can just take it as my sincere thanks to my supervisor.”
Generally the girls he had the date previously liked to have champagne or red wine. There was even someone who liked Maotai or Wuliangye. But no one had mentioned about ice wine, none of them knew that ice wine was his most favorite.
“I wish so.” Luo Junchang held up his glass. “For your promotion and for such good wine.”
“Was it very good? I really don’t know. I just picked it at random from home. Can you explain the origin of this kind of wine for me?” Xu Nuo raised her eyebrows high, being overjoyed. If the handsome polygraph master saw her expression this time, he would hit the mark with a single comment-the speaker raised his eyebrows with his words, this usually showed that he knew the truth.
Whether you were in work or in love, it was necessary to pretend to be naïve. A person who was too real and too smart might look unsociable, unless he/she was not going to work, or even if he/she was to work, he/she was not going to get promotion, or he/she was not going to fall in love, or fall in love but without the intention to get married-it was also a fairly good job to be a single writer at home.
Luo Junchang tasted the wine in the glass with a look of satisfaction. It seemed that she had asked a high level nutritious question. “The first time I’ve tasted this wine in the autumn in Canada. It was marvelous. And this is the second time I have it. Ice- wine, as the name suggests, is the wine made from hard-frozen grapes. Generally speaking, icewine refers to the sweet white wine made from grapes frozen hard at the time of picking. However, in Canada and Germany, the origin of authentic ice-wine, the definition of the ice-wine lays a stress on natural freeze.”
Xu Nuo looked up with her head tilted to one side and asked him with curiosity, “We are a great and impressive country, we certainly have this icewine, haven’t we?”
In “Technical specifications for grape wine making in China”, the definition of ice-wine is: delay the harvest of grapes until the temperature is below minus seven so that the grapes can be kept on the vines for a certain period of time to be frozen, and then the frozen grapes are pressed, squeezing out the drops of juice, which is used for making the ice-wine. However, the ice-wine made in this way in China was not recognized as the genuine ice-wine by other countries.” Luo Junchang usually didn’t talk much, because no one had opened his chatterbox with the right key. Once the box was opened, he couldn’t stop talking. “The Ice wine was first produced in Franconia, Germany in 1794. At that time, people already found out that the sugar and flavor of the grapes that are left on the vines till the first deep frost are concentrated after the process of freezing and thawing. After over two hundred years’ development, ice-wine has become the nonpareil of the wine, and the genuine ice-wine was only produced in Gemany, Austria and Canada. Niagara of Ontario Province in Canada is the most famous ice-wine-producing region. Grapes for making ice-wine reach the full ripeness in October. They are left untouched on the vines under a cloak of protective netting until the first deep freeze of the Canadian winter. During this period, the grapes are dehydrated, thus concentrating the sugars and acids in the juice and intensifying the flavor and aroma.”
He talked about ice-wine for about twenty minutes, during which period, Xu Nuo had had a large portion of Mango Pudding and two egg tarts. As he said, ice-wine had a unique taste when sipping into the mouth. It had a sweeter flavor than other ordinary white wine. When it went through the throat to the stomach, there seemed a lingering thread winding down. It was an indescribable taste.
Xu Nuo had a small appetite but a good table manner. Luo Junchang observed her elegant act and smile and thought why in the company he didn’t notice that Xu Nuo was actually a rather good girl. This could only show that he had paid too much attention to his work.
In the following weeks, Xu Nuo would have no vague relationship with Luo Junchang at the day. Even when having the company’s regular meeting, she would give a righteous look in her eyes. While when dating Mr. GM after work, she got in closer and closer touch with him until there was almost no gap.
They had favorable impressions with each other. Luo Junchang suddenly thought whether it was time for him to have a girlfriend, and it might be the time for him to get married.
One day after Luo Junchang made love ferociously with Xu Nuo, he said to her, who was smooth-skinned when undressed, “Can you leave work earlier tomorrow afternoon?”
“What for?” Xu Nuo leaned her body on Luo Junchang’s shoulder and vigorously breathed in the smell of him, with her hand gently fondling Luo’s testicles.
“Let’s go shopping for some gifts for my mother, I suppose now it is time for you to make her acquaintance.” Luo Junchang’s girlfriend seldom had the chance to see his mother, unless in a formal way. It had been three years when one of them could see her.
Xu Nuo swiped her own card to buy the gifts. She said, “I had money. If I use you money to buy the gifts for your mother, she would think I’m not sincere enough.
The gifts were all expensive. Besides the full set of fish oil made in USA, there was a box containing a wild ginseng with long rootlets, five jin (2. 5 kilogram) of top Tibetan cordyceps, and a digital massage chair, which was so heavy and large that the movers took a long time and great effort to bring it in. (jin is the Chinese measurement unit of weight)
