Harry emerged from the hotel room dressed in black designer suits, his suitcase held securely in his right hand. He took brief graceful steps to meet up with his secretary who was patiently waiting for him along the lobby.
“Ten minutes to go.” his secretary stated with a smile, looking at the watch on his wrist. “You are quite on time, sir.”
Harry nodded, handing over the suitcase to his secretary before they walked out of the hotel. Ciara had returned to her house some minutes after Harry had dropped the call with his secretary that morning. They had kissed and said their final goodbye, with Harry promising to come see her soon.
The car drove up and stopped in front of the hotel entrance as soon as Harry stepped out. His secretary opened the door for him and he stepped in, his secretary occupying the front seat.
“The airport” his secretary announced to the driver once they were comfortably seated.

Damian was seated in his sitting room, a half filled bottle of whiskey placed on a small table beside him as he read through a file in his hand. He was dressed in blue pyjamas and flip flops, an indication that he was just getting out of bed. His phone rang and he picked it up from the table, staring at the caller before dragging the icon to the right.
“Hello” he placed the phone on his right ear, waiting for the caller to speak up.
“Good morning Mr Woods. The confirmation email for the full acquisition has been sent to your mail. Do well to sign it and stop by at the office for a formal sign off.” the caller informed him and he nodded with a smile.
“Thank you Mr Edwards.” He replied, dropping the call after that, smiling widely. He was now a step closer to his plans. So far, everything was falling perfectly into place.
He dropped the file and picked up his MacBook pro, switching it on. He scrolled over to his mailbox, opening the latest mail notification he had. A Fifteen million dollar Acquisition was ninety percent in the bag. He read through the mail carefully with smiles before signing it off.
The days rolled swiftly by into the weekend. It was Friday, the last work day of the week. Harry had arrived safely back at Chicago and had maintained communication with his new girlfriend, Ciara. He had put plans in motion and the deal with Hedz was officially kicking off the next week.
Karen stepped out of her car with a beautiful smile as she took gentle steps to her office building. Her baby bump was growing bigger with each passing day. Her skin was glowing under the morning sun, making her look angelic. Her small designer handbag dangled from her left hand as she pushed the huge glass door open.
Her secretary immediately walked up to her as she sighted her come in. “Welcome ma”
“Thank you. How’s work going? I’m sorry I came in late today” she apologized, looking at the watch on her left wrist. Lately, she had formed the habit of coming into the office few hours late, and though she was the CEO, she still felt it right to apologize to her secretary.
“Work is going on perfectly. We have everything under control.” her secretary responded with a proud smile. “And you’re looking more beautiful today.”
“Thank you.” she replied with a blush. She walked to her office with her secretary trailing behind her. As soon as she stepped in, she was greeted by a parcel wrapped beautifully, laying on her table . She walked round to her seat, eyeing the parcel suspiciously.
“When did this come in?” she asked, pointing at the wrapped box on the table. She was now facing her secretary who had a knowing smile.
“A few minutes ago. I’ll go to my table now.” she replied, and it was obvious she was hiding something. Before Karen could ask any more questions, her secretary bounced out, shutting the door. Left to face her fears, she tore the parcel open, exposing a well wrapped little box, a fresh lily flower and a card. She picked up the card, reading its content. A tear slided down her cheeks as she finished reading its content. She picked up the flower, inhaling its sweet scent before putting them in the vase on her table. The parcel was sent by Jack. It’s been many days since she last saw or spoke with him. He had gotten really busy and stuck up with his family issue, and she on the other hand was getting choked up with work.
She called his number and let it ring before placing it on her ear. She held the card gently with her other hand as she waited for him to pick up.
“Hello. I guess you’ve gotten the box?” Jack’s deep baritone voice sounded, its usual seductive flair accompanying it. His voice sent a chill through her body, making the phone almost slip down her hand.
“Hello, Jack” She replied after some seconds of getting herself together. “Yes. I just got to the office few minutes ago. Thank you very much.”
“How are you doing? I’m sorry I haven’t had time to come see you. I’ve had a pretty messed up schedule. Do you need anything?” he rambled and she smiled into the phone.
“I am fine, and yes, I need something.”
“What’s that? What do you need?” she could sense him sitting upright on his chair.
“I need you to take care of yourself and get enough rest.” She replied.
“You got me there.” he smiled, stretching a little on the chair he sat on. “I promise to get enough rest. And I’ll come visit you soon. Take care of yourself and the baby.”
“I will”
The call went on in silence for a few seconds before he muttered a goodbye and then clicked the end button. She knew he wanted to say something more, and somehow, she felt she knew what he wanted to say. Her heart warmed with emotions as he stared at his name on her phone’s screen. He was slowly warming his way back to her heart.
“Any news about the investors?” Jack asked his secretary who was on the phone. Her call had come in some minutes after he had gone off the phone with Karen. At seventeen minutes past ten in the morning, he was still dressed in his pyjamas with visible eye bags under his once dazzling eyes. One look at him and anybody could conclude how tired and worn out he was. Turns out acting as CEO in two companies while your dad was on his deathbed wasn’t as easy as he had thought.
“No sir. We are –”
“Hold up” he interrupted, picking up his other phone which was ringing loudly. “I’ll talk to you later. I have other business to attend to.” he announced before dropping the call.
“Guess who’s back in town!” his sister’s excited yell welcomed him as soon as he picked her call. He twisted his face in discomfort, taking the phone away from his ears. Her yell had gone directly into his ear, causing him a sharp pain in his tired head.
“Thanks for attempting to deafen me.” he responded calmly.
