Jack stared at Harry in anger before pushing him away. “I’m not going to apologize for what I said.”
Harry threw another punch at him, but this time, he dodged it perfectly. He threw a punch that caught Harry by the end of the jaw. They both stood, painting heavily as they stared at each other.
They sized each other with their eyes before Harry stormed out angrily slamming the door shut loudly. Jack walked over to a chair and sat down, burying his head in his hands. His best friend, Harry raised his hands in anger against him. The thought pushed him to the witts. Harry was supposed to be his best friend. They’ve never fought before, but today they did, and he felt he was the one to blame.
Harry bounced out of Jack’s house angrily, got to his car that was parked outside and drove off. He scoffed angrily as his mind replayed the actions that had gone down inside. Jack has called Chelsy a bitch and he had gotten angry and punched him. “He deserved it” he told himself as he held the steering tightly. The fact that Chelsy had left didn’t give him the right to insult her that way. He would do it over and over again to protect her dignity.
He drove into the hotel where he had booked a room, parked his car and checked in. His parents owned two houses in Los Angeles, but anytime he came around, he choosed to stay in an hotel. He punched the number into the elevator and made his way to the executive suite that was located at the top floor. He swiped his passcard at the door and it opened up to a big, beautifully decorated room. He had planned to spend two weeks in the city, close and deals, be closer to his family and spend time when his loved ones. Anything to take his mind off her.
Damian stepped out of his house, dressed in a black suite, black shirt and a well polished shoe. A sunglass was perked over his eyes, reducing the effect of the late morning sun. He pressed the remote control of the car, unlocking it as he walked towards it. He was set to meet Karen today. After arriving in the city about two weeks ago, he thought he had given her enough space. He had checked up on her company and much to aahis delight, she was doing very fine.
Damian’s car pulled up at the parking lot of En Magazine, Karen’s company. He turned off the engine, spending few minutes inside the car to inspect the vicinity. It was something he used to do while he was still with the organization.
He pushed the front door open, stepping into the huge building that served as the the office to the piercing stares of different pairs of eyes. He walked briskly to the front desk.
“Good morning. I need to see your manager, Karen” he stated, his hands tucked into his pockets as he spoke with an air of superiority.
“Welcome sir. Please do you have a booking?” her tone was soft and polite.
“Do I need one?” he questioned arrogantly.
“Yes sir. You need one. Meetings with the CEO is strictly on reservations. You can either book one now or come back tomorrow.” she stated professionally and he scoffed.
“I don’t think I need one. You can go and inform her that I’m here.” he replied and the secretary stared at him unflinching. She was a professional who kept to work ethics. Whoever was, he wouldn’t be able to intimidate him.
Damian huffed angrily when he realized that she wouldn’t budge. He resignedly book an appointment for the next one hour and went to wait. This was one of the few times in the past three years that something hadn’t gone in his favour, and someone it made him feel strange.
An hour later, the secretary called him up, and led him to Karen’s office. She knocked on the door and when she heard a “come in,” she pushed the door open and stepped in.
“Mr Wood is here to see you.” the secretary stated, bowing at her. Damian stood behind the secretary, his face hidden from Karen’s view. The secretary soon stepped aside, walking out of the office, leaving him with Karen. He turned and faced her fully.
“Hey” He greeted cheerfully, offering her a big smile. She stared at him for few seconds, not being able to recognize him. He looked really familiar, but somehow, she failed to place where she knew him from.
“You look really familiar, but I’m finding it hard to place your face. By the way, have a seat.” she offered, pointing at the seat he was standing beside.
A pang of hurt hit him on the chest. She couldn’t even recognize him. It’s been only four years. Only four years and she had forgotten how he looked like. He couldn’t blame her totally. In the period of time, he had changed greatly.
He took the seat she offered, still smiling at her. Her stare lingered on him, squinting in the process. His nose looked familiar, before it clicked in her mind. Her eyes bulged as she opened her mouth wide in shock.
“Da-Damian!” She was in disbelief as she stared at the man seated in front of her. He had changed greatly than how her mind always pictured him to be. He now looked more matured, responsible and quite expensive. It seems he was doing really well for himself.
“For a second, I thought you wouldn’t recognize me. I’m relieved that you haven’t forgotten Mr completely.” his wide smile was still in place. She had a ghost look on her face. What was he doing back in Los Angeles? Why did he come to see her? Many questions were running through her mind as she stared at him.
“Ofcourse, I would always remember you.” she gritted. She wasn’t still comfortable with his sudden appearance. Her discomfort was visible on her face.
“So, how have you been these past few years?”
“Someone left me with just a note and since then, I’ve been doing fine.” she replied with deep sarcasm. His face distorted into a deep frown. He understood what she meant, she was referring to him.
“I’m glad to see that you are doing fine” he replied
“Mr Wood, as you can see, I’m busy right now. I’d like to return to my work.” she stated. Her tone was cold and not what she expected.
“Ahh. Ofcourse. Here’s my card.” he replied, taking out his complimentary care from his suit pocket. He handed it over to her and collected it, staring at it disgustingly. “Give me a day whenever you’re a little free from work. Let’s meet up and talk.” he added.
“Alright.” She replied, tucking the card into the drawer in her table. He got up from the chair, flashed her a smile. “I guess I have to get going now. I’ll see you later.”
She scoffed loudly and angrily as he walked out. What was he back for? He had left her four years ago with the plan of making money to take care of her. He left her with nothing. Never contacted her or anything, and now he was back. Lol.
Damian stepped out of her office, held his head high and he walked out of the building. Karen had really changed from the calm and gentle girl he had known. She now sounded fierce and disgusted by him. He pushed the thought aside as he walked into his car. He was going to do everything possible to get her forgiveness and get back together.
Harry walked in to Hedz. One of the biggest PR companies in the state of California. He had a deal to cover with them concerning his latest project. He was dressed in a suit and a turtle neck polo. He held his briefcase in his right hand as a female staff walked up to him. The meeting had already been scheduled and he was a few minutes late.
“This way to the meeting room.” She said, leading him to the elevator. They stepped into the elevator, punching the key to the first floor. Few minutes, they stepped out of the elevator, walking to the meeting room. From the outside, he could see the CEO, deputy CEO and a rather unknown lady waiting patiently for him. He walked in with great composure.
“Good morning.” he greeted, shaking hands with the CEO. “I’m sorry I’m late. Something came up.” he apologized.
“You are welcome. This is my deputy CEO and this is the head of PR department, Ciara Williams.” The CEO, a man that looked to be in his early fifties introduced. Ciara brought her hand forward for a handshake. He took her hand in his’, shaking it lightly. Her palm was soft and felt so good in his hands.
“Nice to meet you, Ms Ciara. I must commend, you’re really beautiful.” he flashed her a smile, still holding her hand.
“Thank you.” She replied, looking at her hand that was in his grip awkwardly and he released it immediately.
“I guess we can go on now.” He stated, his eyes still lingering on the beautiful lady.
