Noah’s pov,
Noah followed the man inside the main building reluctantly. He felt annoyed that they interrupted his moment with Lola. She looked like an angel in the dark blue dress she was wearing with a split at her leg. The sight of her thighs alone made Achak go crazy inside his head again. He sighed trying to get the image out of his head when he walked into the room.
“So, what was so urgent that you wanted to talk to me before my speech?” he asked.
Gary smiled, “I think I speak for all of us when I say that I was most impressed with what you have done with the kids. It shows again that strict rules and discipline are the best way to create strength in our packs.”
Noah scraped his throat, “I am glad that you are all happy with the result, but I think you all missed the point. The point was not drilling them into respect and fear, the point was having them bond over hard tasks so they will unite as one.”
Bruce coughed, “Respectfully Alpha Grey. We both know that is just a pretty way of saying the same thing. I have to admit you got us a bit worried since you mated with Luna Grey. We heard about all these changes that are creating division in your pack. But I understand now it was just a bit of a show to please your Luna. I mean we get it; you have to keep her happy at least until she bears your pups.”
Noah felt his blood starting to boil and his voice was low and dangerous when he spoke, “You are way out of line Bruce. I can assure you that I fully support any of the changes that were made. In fact, I have many more changes planned for the coming year. For all the packs. It is time we evolve.”
The Alphas looked at him too stunned to speak until Gary finally asked, “What kind of changes?”
Noah gave them all an intimidating stare before he said, “For one I will cancel the mate hunts.”
The Alpha’s faces went from disbelief to anger and Noah continued, “It is an outdated tradition that most men use as an excuse to show bad behavior. I no longer want to rule solely based on fear and abuse.”
Bruce spat on the ground, “You didn’t seem to have a problem with that when you sentenced my son to death. Where was your newly found high-ground attitude then? You have gone crazy since you mated that bitch.”
Achak was growling and pushing him to take over, “THEY CANNOT SPEAK ABOUT OUR MATE THAT WAY. LET ME TAKE OVER AND SHOW THEM WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU INSULT OUR MATE.”
Noah had a hard time keeping Achak in control, so he just said nothing which pissed them off even more.
“I don’t have time for this nonsense. You better gain some sense before your speech Noah otherwise we will find a new leading Alpha,” Bruce shouted before he stormed out of the room. The other Alphas looked at him like he was covered in shit before they went after him.
Noah dropped his head between his hands and sighed loudly. That couldn’t have gone much worse. Maybe he should find the Alphas again and try to explain it better. He just wanted to leave the room to sort this mess when he heard a horn blasting loudly. Noah frowned confused because that was the sound to announce the speech. But if he was right here then who was about to give the yearly speech?
