“I guess they didn’t dare to stop her just because they recognized your license plate,” the aide muttered to himself, lowering his head. Ye Guanguan had snatched the car from him. He wondered how his boss was going to punish him.
“Fine. Sent the company’s patrol officers to look for her right away! What do you mean by saying “catch”? She’s not a criminal!”
Hearing his boss was annoyed by his subordinate over the phone, the aide chuckled! Within seconds, he stood erect and lowered his head again, realizing he was wrong.
Unfortunately, Lu Jinting realized that his aide laughed at him.
Pulling a long face, he hung up the phone and walked to his aide, with his hands clasped behind his back. He gave an order as crossly and coldly as Asura, “Loaded cross-country running for five kilometers. Get back to the camp right away and run!”
“Aye!”
On Jingjin Road.
In an endless stream of cars, there suddenly came a screech of brakes, followed by a crashing sound. Ye Guanguan felt someone rear-ended her, smashing into the back of her car rudely. Subconsciously, she straightened her arms, holding the steering wheel tightly.
Thanks to the driving license exam she had just taken, a variety of self-rescue methods flashed in her mind for a spilt of second. Fortunately, it wasn’t a serious car crash. She didn’t lose control of the car and it didn’t flip over.
“How were you driving?”
The car behind hers was a BMW. It seemed to be a new one that was just picked up.
Ye Guanguan unbuckled the seatbelt, and off she got. She found a dent in the rear end of her car. The front part of the car behind hers was also in bad condition, without doubt. Its bumper and license plate were wobbly, merely supported by a small screw.
“The car behind shall be responsible for a rear-end collision.”
Ye Guanguan was still in a bad temper. Whoever stirred up trouble would suffer.
The man coming out of the BMW’s driving seat wasn’t the car owner. According to the nameplate he was wearing, he turned out to be a designated driver. With a worried look, he came hurriedly to check up on the front part.
As he caught sight of the license plate of Ye Guanguan’s car and the dent in the trunk, he kind of had a nervous breakdown.
“But why did you suddenly started the car and then stopped? I… I really don’t know what to do…” asked the designated driver.
His boss didn’t care why or how the car crash happened. The car was new. How could he possibly explain to his boss?
The young designated driver was awfully shattered. Ye Guanguan felt a bit guilty, too. She knew how poorly she drove a car.
Within minutes, a traffic policeman rode his working motorcycle over, in a green uniform, which reminded Ye Guanguan of Lu Jinting right away.
With a guilty conscience, she kept lowering her head as she replied.
“Officers, I’m sorry. I’ll call the car towing service right away. We’ve decided to settle it out of court.”
The car crash led to a traffic jam where the road was clogged up with cars behind them.
Luckily, the license plate was smashed. The traffic policeman didn’t notice the nervous look on Ye Guanguan’s face. In his eyes, this was only a timid girl. He reported what was happening at the accident scene to his team over the walkie-talkie on his chest.
“Car owners will settle it out of court.”
The designated driver for BMW stood rooted to the ground with confusion. The girl would let him go?
Something felt wrong. He was supposed to take the blame. But the girl offered to settle it out of court. Since there was a chance for negotiation, he would just cooperate.
It wasn’t a complicated process to complete the signatures. Ye Guanguan and the designated driver were debriefed simply by the roadside. The traffic policeman left after confirming neither of them was hurt. Their cars were claiming insurance.
The young designated driver was holding his phone nervously and making a call. He got through to someone, but said little.
Behind him, Ye Guanguan cast a glance, only to find that the designated driver wasn’t calling the car owner. Instead, he was calling a friend to borrow some money.
Ye Guanguan cleared her throat and said, “Ahem… Take this.”
Since she was reborn, she hadn’t started to work yet. But she had dowries she brought from the Ye family. Among them, there was much money her father gave as the betrothal gift. She took out a bank card and said sincerely, “Take this for the car loss.”
The designated driver was baffled, and immediately he stuttered, “You… You… You…”
You were kind of a righteous road killer!
Hurriedly, he took off the white gloves he was wearing, and wiped his hands on his coat before he reached out.
Seeing his hesitation, Ye Guanguan tucked the band card into his arms and said, “Be quick! I’m in a hurry!”
He was a poor man, anyway. Ye Guanguan didn’t know why, but she wasn’t feeling bad for losing money. Instead, getting Lu Jinting’s car crashed even made her somehow happy.
Her phone was vibrating on silent again. This was the 49th call Lu Jinting was making. Ye Guanguan rejected it.
“Humph! You scared me!” thought she.
Taking out the SIM card, Ye Guanguan decided to run away from home and stay out of sight. Otherwise, Lu Jinting might think of her as a pushover.
She walked into a Starbuck, ordered a cup of Cherry Macchiato, and then asked the waitress in a shy and low voice, “Excuse me. May I have the Wi-Fi password?”
On the road, a motorcycle rode passed again. The traffic policeman didn’t see Ye Guanguan who sat inside the Starbuck.
It was the same traffic policeman who just handled the car crash. He rode fast back to where the accident happened, only to see the military vehicle by the roadside, waiting to be towed. The female driver, however, was gone.
“Where’s the owner of the car?”
Burning with a frenzy of rage, he asked the insurance officers who were collecting evidence. He got nothing, but more confused looks. When he received the order, he didn’t notice the girl was from the Lu family.
He walked hurriedly to the front of the car. Upon seeing the license plate 88888, he got cold feet and fell on the ground.
Screwed! The girl ran away right before his eyes!
Half an hour later, Ye Guanguan slowly approached the target dot according to the real-time map.
If she hadn’t walked, she wouldn’t have known that she could get to the bar she used to visit through a few lanes.
In Jinghua Club.
It was only three in the afternoon when a lot of people with numb souls had already been having fun in the bar.
Today’s music was somewhat noisy. Ye Guanguan thought so, possibly because it had been long since she came last time. In her previous life, she didn’t often come here until she married Lu Jinting.
The bar owner was a good friend of Ye Qiancheng’s. Also, in her previous life, she often met Lu Mingye here so that she could get rid of Lu Jinting’s tracking down.
With the passage of time, circumstances changed. As she walked slowly into the dancing crowd, two feelings mixed on the bottom of her heart-the inner guilt and the pleasure in taking revenge on Lu Mingye.
Lu Jinting would never expect Ye Guanguan to come to such a place. If Ye Guanguan hadn’t been reborn, she wouldn’t expect this, either.
“A cup of water, please.”
Ye Guanguan walked to the bar counter on a familiar route and took a seat. The bartender was making a glass of mint julep and he didn’t even look up.
“Don’t come out for fun until you’re an adult.”
Oh? Ye Guanguan raised her eyebrows. She took up the glass of mint julep which was almost done and swigged it in one long swallow.
The bartender looked up grumpily. Suddenly, he recognized Ye Guanguan before he tried to reprimand her. And then he grinned from ear to ear.
“Guanguan, what brings you here? It’s been such a long time since we last met.”
According to what happened in the previous life, her naughty brother just urged her to hold a single party in this bar a couple of days before her wedding night.
“Well, a cup of water, please.”
She pulled over a bar stool and sat on it, her straight long legs hanging there. The flat shoes she was wearing looked ill-adapted to the bar.
The bartender passed her a cup of cold boiled water gallantly and whispered, as if giving some secret information, “You must be coming for your elder brother, aren’t you? He’s all right. I always keep an eye on him for you.”
