Casting Spells

Book:The Witch And The Dragon Clan Published:2024-5-1

“Banishing negative energy from a house.” I read out from my book of spells. Arkalis had a complain from one of the villagers.
The man had complained of not making any sales from his shop, and that he has been drowning slowly in debts.
Arkalis gave me my first mission, the job of cleansing the villager shop. But when I got there I felt a negative vibe on the man’s shop and decided I should instead cast a banishing spell on all negative energy away from the shop.
“I will need four black candles, onyx or loderstome or magnetized iron, frankincense or sandalwood incense stick. I need this ingredients to cast the spell, so please get them.  I will start the ritual by midnight.” I said to the man and he nods his head and exit his shop, while I waited for his return.
The man was able to get me the four black candles, onyx, and sandalwood incense stick.
I waited till midnight before starting with the ritual of cleansing his shop of all negative energy.
I took four black candles and put them at each of the cardinal points of his shop. Next to each candle i put a piece of onyx. Then I Light the four candles next, For it to time suck up all the negative energy in the house and channeling it back into the earth through the stones.
Next I took the sandalwood incense stick and draw a banishing pentagram of earth at each window, wall, door and corner of the shop.
I visualize the negative energy being pushed beyond the pentagram and locked outside as i completed it.
After the candles have burned a bit and i felt that they have absorbed the negative energies. I buried the five black candles outside the shop, in the four directions.
I left the stones where they were, and visualize them as a spiritual electric fence that keeps the
negative energy or pesky spirits from coming back in.
“I’m done with the ritual sir. You can lock up and go back home.” I said to the man all smiles. I can’t believe I just helped my fellow human and not just as an ordinary human, but as a witch.
The man’s home wasn’t so far from his shop, so I slept in his house. His wife gave me food, although I reject it cause it was too late to eat. I thanked her warmly and slept off in the room provided for me.
Morning came and I left the shop owner’s house, heading straight for Arkalis’s. As a very unlucky person that I am, I met Christian at the front door.
I breathe in deeply, tried my possible best to not hold eye contact with him. With that I was able to walk past him. Okay I wasn’t.
Christian grabbed my hand taking me back to his front. “Let go of my hand.” I said calmly, while avoiding eye contact with him.
“Why are you avoiding me Anastasia.” He spoke softly, melting my tender heart.
“I’m not, Christian. I have had a long night and right now I just want to be tucked in my bed.” I replied hastily, trying to remove my hands from his hold.
“Fine, I will let you go have that rest, hopefully I will see you tomorrow. That is if you are not avoiding me.” He let go my hand, while I left hurriedly.
I’m just not ready to face him yet, remembering the fact that I was the one who kissed him and not the other way around.
What am I going to say to him, besides I don’t think he likes me the way I do.
He did kiss you back…. My subconsciousness drawls.
It was just in the heat of the moment and nothing else…. I replied her back, walking into my room.
I fell on my bed shutting my eyes close. I want nothing but to wake up at sundown. I just really need to sleep.

“Anastasia! Anastasia!! Anastasia!!” My name was called so loudly, from the voice I could tell it was Arkalis. I opened my eyes, and I was right… it is Arkalis.
“Arkalis. What is going on?” I asked worriedly sitting up on the bed.  Arkalis has never stepped into my room before, so seeing him here is kind of shocking. I looked outside and is not even sundown yet.
“What is going on, is that I ask you to cleanse that man’s shop. But you went there and cast a banishing spell on all negative energy. That was not my instructions.” He yelled angrily, his spittle dripping out of his mouth.
“I went there and felt the negative vibe and thought why not banished it instead. I felt that was the reason for his no sells in his shop.” I replied truthfully. My heart beat escalated in worry, I couldn’t help but think if my banishing spell didn’t work or worse, might have ended up causing problems for the man.
“It is okay for negative energy to be at a place. Where there’s good energy, there is also bad energy. That negative energy wasn’t causing any harm to the man, instead he helped the man think negative when it was necessary. But because you locked the negative energy out, the man has been duped by someone who he should have clearly seen was there to dupe him. You haven’t solved that man’s problem of no income, but have also taken the little money he has been able to save out of his fallen business.” Arkalis stepped away from the bed, staring at me intensely. His eyes saying it all, even though he won’t say it… he is greatly disappointed in me.
I didn’t know what to say or do. So I lowered my head in shame. Here I was thinking I had helped my fellow human, only to find out I failed woefully at it.
“I… never… meant to cause… any harm for the man. I thought… thought I was doing the right thing.” I stuttered, still not looking up.
Arkalis sighed, “That’s the problem there Ama. Sometimes what you think is the right thing to do, is not always the right thing. Just because something feels bad, doesn’t mean it is bad.” He spoke softly this time around.
“I know that now.” I replied solemnly.
“Of course you do. Now get your ass up, you have a cleansing spell to perform.” He urged, and I stood up immediately ready to correct my wrongs.

I took a large bowl of salt and sprinkled a handful of it on the exterior of the doorways and windows of the man’s shop.
Arkalis had trusted me yet again to take care of the cleansing of the man’s shop. And for this I am prepared to do better. I don’t really have to wait for midnight just like the other ritual I carried out the last time, this can be done even in day time.
I Light a white candle in a large fireproof bowl then combined,
1 tablespoon powdered garlic
1 tablespoon peppermint
1 tablespoon ground clove
1 tablespoon dried thistle
A handful of sweetgrass
Dried oak leaves.
I carefully light the mixture so that it smolders, giving off an aromatic smoke. Leaving the candle lit, I carried the bowl around the shop repeating the following words:
“In the name of the Eternal Lady and Lord I bid thee part. I consecrate and clear this space.
Let nothing but joy linger here.” When I was done rounding the shop and saying those words… I returned back to my earlier position, set the bowl beside the candle and waited for the remaining mixture to burn out.
Once the mixture was burn out, I took the ash outside and sprinkled it around the house.
“Sir I’m done with the cleansing, you do not have to worry about anything. And don’t worry this time around. I have already undo my last spell, so the one I just did will definitely work in your favour.” I said to the man, and he nods his head smiling.
“If you say so. My wife asked that I give this to the wizard.” The man hands over a basket of fruits and took it from him with gratitude.
I left the market and hurried back to the house where of course the least person I was expecting to see was right there seating outside with Freya.
“Anastasia.” He called after me as I rushed inside the house. But running wasn’t enough, cause he ran after me.
“What Christian, I have to give this Arkalis. Maybe some other time.” I replied running as fast as my legs could take me without waiting for his reply, when he caught up with me.
I was told Arkalis was out, so I gave the basket of fruit to one of the servant to give to him when he comes back and then I retired back to my room.
I was about hitting the pillow when freya walked into my room.
“You know it’s a polite thing to knock right?” I said to her sitting up.
“Yeah I know, but I choose not.” She replied shrugging her shoulders sitting besides me on the bed.
And I rolled my eyes in response. I’m just so tired and not in the mood for small talks.
“Why are you here Freya?” I asked sighing.
“Wow. I’m hurt. So I’m the only one who missed you and not the other way around. I haven’t seen you or talk to you for ages and this is what I get.” She fakes sobbing while cleaning invisible tears.
“Okay I’m sorry. I am just tired and sleepy Freya, I just really need to rest.” I yawned loudly to prove my point.
“Okay, if you say so. I will leave you too sleep.” She gets up from the bed while I laid down back.
She walked to the door of my room but didn’t exit my room, instead she stood at the door and looked at me. “Do.. you have something to say?” I asked raising my head up, my eyebrow raised at her.
“Not really. I just noticed you have been avoiding Christian. I can’t tell what is up with the both of you, but I can sense you are hurting his feelings.” She smiled lightly at me then left the room.
I shut my eyes to sleep, but it appears that sleep has left me. Freya words just wouldn’t stop playing out in my head, *But I can sense you are hurting his feelings*
I can’t be hurting Christian’s feeling if he doesn’t have one in the first place, right?
Probably Freya isn’t interpreting what she noticed clearly. Christian only wants me to break the curse on his clan and that is all.
I should sleep.
“Anastasia.” A voice called, a voice I recognized as Arkalis’s voice. What is it this time around, did I mess up the spell, has the shop owner being robbed again. And why can’t I get a proper sleep. Argh!
“Yes master Arkalis.” I yelled out getting up from the bed, and then walking over to the door to meet with him.
“There you are.” He smiled at me as I came out of the room.
“You called for me.” I said to him standing by the door of my room.
“Just wanted to give you this. You did the work, so you should have this.” He hands over the basket of fruits to me. I took it from him gratefully.
“Thank you Arkalis.”
I turned around ready to walk into my room again when Arkalis said, “In no time you would be ready to head back to the future and face your destiny.”
“Hopefully I would be ready.” I gave him a small smile walking into my room.
Laying on my bed, I couldn’t help but begin to wonder if I can truly handle my awaiting destiny. I failed at helping that man out today with just my instincts, what if my instincts makes me jeopardize the fate of the clan.
