“Perfect. You did great.” Arkalis commends me as I transported water from one bucket to another.
I smiled happily, I’m one step in achieving my destiny and not just because, the whole of Christian’s clan is on my back but because I believe I can do it.
“Thank you.” I smiled really brightly, showing off my thirty two dentures. I should probably try shooting a toothpaste commercial.
“Sine you are starting the day on a really great note. I will let you have the rest of the day to yourself. You can go out and do something fun.” Arkalis pats me on the shoulder and exits the training ground.
I happily hopped out of the training ground heading straight for the inner chamber, where freya and Christian were too busy lazying around.
“Okay people. What do you think about having some fun for the day.” I yelled excitedly as I walked in.
“First off, are you done with your training? Secondly, I hope you are not trying to escape from your training. And yes, I am glad to do something fun for a change. It has been a series of boringness around here.” Freya said with a big sigh.
“Firstly, Yes I’m done with training. Secondly, I’m not trying to run away. Arkalis gave me the day rest, saying I should go have some fun. I guess I might have impressed him with my water bending.” I paused.. breathing a little air.
“And I’m glad we are on the same page of having fun.” I finished off with a wide grin.
“Great let’s go!!” Freya literally jumped off the seat she was on.
“Christian?” I raised an eyebrow at him. He has been so quiet.
“Yes.” He raised an eyebrow, returning my inquisitive stare.
“Did you just zoned out? Like you didn’t hear all what freya and I have been saying?” I asked confused and shocked. Freya and I was really loud, how could he not have heard it.
“Uhm… I was, I wasn’t just paying enough attention to you guys.” He sat up… “what where you guys saying or asking.”
“I was asking if you would want to go out and do something fun?” I answered simply my eyes pinned on him as I talked. Christian isn’t one to zone out just like that, there’s something wrong definitely.
“I don’t think there’s any fun the past could offer. Everything looks so boring.” He replied groaning, I rolled my eyes at him.
“Don’t be a fun killer Christian and get up.” I glared at him angrily.
“Okay, okay.. I’m up. Please do not kill me with your eyes *miss witch.*” He chuckled getting up. I chuckled at the title.. *Miss witch.*
“Okay, what are we going to do for fun.” Freya asked enthusiastically.
“I really don’t have an idea. But…. Since this is your turf and your time, you should know what we could do for fun here.”
Freya placed a hand under her chin… “Hmm, what do I usually do when I’m bored and in a desperate need of fun.. I would take a stroll in the village and let fun come to me.” She shrugs.
“I don’t think this is off to a great start.” Christian whistles and I rolled my eyes.
“Well… To the village then and fun, shall come to us!!” I screamed enthusiastically pointing at the exist door. And so the three of exists Arkalis’s mansion, for a stroll in the village.
We took a stroll around the village, met some musician along the way. Watched some funny drama being displayed. We also witness a prisoner being paraded around the kingdom, don’t know what he did, but he must have been a really big offender. People were casting stones at him.
We finally did end up at the market of Azra. We checked at what the people were selling, some were selling animals… foodstuffs like rice, then we saw fabric sellers and also jewelries.
Freya, Christian and I decided to buy a change of clothes, so we walked into the next shop we saw that sells clothes.
“What do you think?” Freya asked as she walks out of the closet or should I say the changing room.
Freya was dressed in a really nice colorful dress that fits for a goddess. She’s so beautiful in it.
“You look like a goddess, a goddess of beauty.” I said to her clapping.
“I will rate your outfit, 6/10.” Christian said, he was like our fashion judge, and right now he is so bad at it.
“Common Christian, this outfit deserves at least an 8. It even deserves a 10.” I glared at Christian.
“Excuse me miss.. I don’t think you are the judge here. Have you forgotten who I am, I am the top fashionista in the whole of Azra. And you are not even up to me.” He snarled at me bitchly.
“You’re just mad we rated your outfit, 1/10.” I hissed at him picking up whatever my hands could touch in the basket and hurriedly walking into the changing room, not waiting for his comeback.
“Once I was done putting on the clothes I regretted picking it without checking the outfit out. I am definitely getting a zero for this.
CHRISTIAN’S POV:
Why is she taking forever to step out of the changing room. I stared at the curtains of the changing room waiting… Then she came out, her legs first before the rest of her body followed suit.
“Wow. You look so simple but elegant.” Freya said… her voice sounded so far away from my hearing cause Anastasia has gotten all my attention.
“You think it is…. I felt it was too basic.” Anastasia said playing with the fabric in between her fingers.
“No. No it’s not. You’re so beautiful in it.” I said dazed by her beauty.
Realizing what I just said and how I just said it, and also seeing the look I got from both Anastasia and freya…. ” huh?” Anastasia raised an eyebrow.
“Uhm, I meant the dress…. is beautiful. And it makes your ugly self beautiful in it.” I blurt out. What the heck Christian? Ugly self beautiful?
“Wow… thanks.” Anastasia rolls her eyes, freya chuckled.
I sighed, “I will be waiting outside.”I got up and walked out of the shop not without hearing Anastasia say… “What is his deal?”
I stood outside the shop and waited for them. Freya came out first, she shoulder bumped me and said, ” If you like her so much, why don’t you just tell her.” She whispered.
I turned to stare at her in shock. “I don’t. I don’t like her.” I denied. I have to work on my lying skills, cause I’m really bad at it. I suck at lying.
“You know when… you used Anastasia as an excuse to not marry me. I thought you were just looking for a way to escape, but now I can see you really like her and that’s why her name rolls out of your lips easily. You should tell her of your feelings. Anyways, here she comes.” She pats me on the back, I on the other hand couldn’t take my eyes off Anastasia.
“Don’t tell me the both of you were gossiping about me.” She feigned being shocked.
“We loosing daylight, let’s move to the next agenda.” Freya said excitedly, thrusting her hands up in the air.
“You mean walking out there for the next fun to find us?” I rolled my eyes.
“Yes. And I think the next fun just found us.” Freya replied grinning rushing over to a group of kids and women running in haste.
“Seriously, Freya.” Anastasia yelled running after freya, and I followed suit.
“Hey miss. Where are you running off to?” Freya stops one of the ladies running.
“Today is the seventh day of the week, and on every seventh day of the week… grandmother Lilian tells us a story outside the temple. She has a lot of nice stories to tell, so no one would want to miss it. I have to go now if I intend to see a place to sit. Goodbye.” The lady waved freya goodbye as she runs off.
“What are you guys waiting for? Let’s go! Let’s go to the where the fun is.” Freya yells excitedly already running off with the other kids and women.
I looked at Anastasia and she shrugged then runs after freya. I had no choice but to tag along.
I didn’t come to the past to run!! Although it does feel good to run when is not night time, and in the midst of actual people that is not my clan men.
True to the lady’s word when we got there, the whole seats were already filled up… now we had to stand at the back.
“Guys come.” Freya whispered yelled to me and Anastasia. We had lost her in the middle of all the runnings.
“Where did you disappear to? We were worried.” Anastasia asked relief to see freya.
“I was busy getting us some seats. Come with me.” Freya made hands gesture asking we follow her.
Freya lead us to the very front, where she had actually saved us some seats. I thought she was bluffing.
“How did you get this seats?” I asked her in wonder, sitting down.
“I have my ways. Anyway, Grandma Lilian is already here.” She shushed me focusing on the grandma.
A very old lady who looks to fragile to be standing, walks to the middle of the podium. A chair has already been placed for her on the podium, so she sat down. In the present time, she would definitely be in an elderly house. Nah… she would be confined to a bed attached to a life support machine.
“Today I will be telling a tale of a very famous legendary lovers…..” Grandma Lilian began…. As she starts the story, there was a puppeteer close to her, who acted on every words grandma said… with his puppets.
The story started out really great and interesting, I loved it! Then it ended in a really bad way. One of the lovers died, the female had to sacrifice herself for the man to live. Leaving him all alone in this world. I hate sad endings.
“Such a beautiful love story. Maybe in another world, they would have the happy ending they deserve.” Anastasia let’s out sadly. What is beautiful about a love that ends with one dying.
“We should go drop some money.” Freya said getting up. There was big stainless bowl right next to the grandma Lilian, and people kept dropping money as they exit the temple.
I went with freya and Anastasia, not because I want to drop any money… but to see how big the money in the bowl is. Cause I can’t understand why a lot of people would appreciate such a sad story.
We got to where the bowl is and oh my… that is a lot of money. Freya drops in some money, then Anastasia drops next. We were about leaving when the old grandma took hold of Ana’s hand.
“You must be Anastasia, the one from the future. The spirits had whispered a lot of things about you to me.” Grandmother Lilian rubs Anastasia back of palm softly while staring softly into her eyes.
“Ohh wow. I didn’t know you that you would know me or that you relate to the spirits. Anyway I did loved the story you told earlier, it was a touching love story.” Anastasia said returning the old lady’s smile.
“Ooh poor child. The road ahead of you is so dark. Hopefully your story won’t end like the couple in my tale.” Grandmother Lilian gave a sad pitiful look. Anastasia looks at me confused, and I shrugged not understanding a thing.
“What do you mean grandma?”
“At the end of it all, you would have two choice. Either die or live.”
“What? What do you mean?” This time around Anastasia voice came out alarmed and worried. I was also alarmed and worried.
“Grandma Lilian. You have to get inside.” A young help boy said, helping grandma Lilian up.
“I wish you luck Anastasia and you too Christian.” Grandmother Lilian gave us a hopeful smile and left.
“What was that?” Freya asked breaking the silence that has ensued between Anastasia and I.
“I have no idea.” I replied worriedly.
