He would have so much more money when he grew up and bought his Mommy an even bigger house!
“Come in,” Linford led the way.
The mansion was enormous, and it had all sorts of artificial views. Cristelle didn’t even need to ask to know that this place must at least cost tens of millions. Linford put his little girl on the sofa, rubbing her little nose, “Wait here. Da-I’m gonna find some meds for you, okay?”
Candace nodded silently.
Cristelle’s heart started to race, “Mr. Bradley, what did you just say?”
Linford’s face didn’t change color, “Nothing.”
With that, he went upstairs.
Drew sighed. Linford probably liked the little girl too much. He didn’t even know to contain himself a little.
“Cristelle, have a cup of tea,” Drew smiled as he made the poor woman a cup of the most expensive tea in Linford’s house.
It didn’t take Linford too long to come downstairs, carrying a first-aid kit.
Drew took the kit immediately, “I’ve got this.”
Linford insisted on doing that. Drew arched an eyebrow, “You’re not a doctor. What if you got it wrong?”
Linford snapped back, “It’s just a wound. I know how to deal with them.”
Saying that he started to check out on the little girl. Luckily, Candace was only scared. She didn’t have any wounds on her body. But Cody was injured. His arms and legs were all bruised. And his toe was bleeding.
Linford crouched down, trying to take the wound for the boy.
But Cody flinched, “Mommy, can you ask Doc to do that for me?”
Linford’s face fell.
Drew tried to stifle a laugh, “It’s okay, Cody. Just let Uncle Bradley do that.”
Linford shot Drew a death stare, “Who’s his uncle?”
Drew laughed, “I am his uncle, of course.”
Cristelle started to feel a bit scared as she looked at the two men.
When Cody’s wounds were taken care of, she just wanted to leave immediately, “The babies and I need to go. Thank you both for what you’ve done for us.”
“What’s the hurry? You also got injured, right? It’s on your back. Let me take a look,” Drew wanted to check it out for her as a professional doctor.
Cristelle didn’t think it was inappropriate. She thus turned her back to Drew, trying to lift her shirt up. But Linford suddenly dashed forward, “Let me check it out for you.”
Cristelle put her shirt down instantly, looking away, “It… It doesn’t matter. It’s not that hurt.”
Linford insisted, “Just let me take a look, Cristelle,”
Cristelle shook her head, “I’m really okay. It’s getting late. We should go.”
“That’s right, Mommy. I’m tired,” Cody faked a yawn.
“Wait, Cristelle,” Drew suddenly said, “I actually have something to tell you.”
“Actually, I did a DNA test for the babies and Mr. Bradley. It turns out. They’re related,” Drew said carefully. He didn’t want to scare Cristelle.
But Cristelle still looked like she was in shock after hearing what he said.
“No! It’s impossible!” Cristelle’s cup landed on the table with a clank, “This is ridiculous. I’m leaving right now.”
Saying that she carried her daughter and took her boy’s hand, ready to go.
Linford stood in her way, “Drew is telling the truth. I am the babies’ father. Don’t you think Cody looks like me too much? And aren’t you curious why Candace would only let me hold her?”
“This is bullshit! There are so many people who look like each other. But it doesn’t mean they are all related. Besides, before we came here, other people always said Cody looked like multiple guys. So are they all Cody’s father?” Cristelle was almost screaming.
That sentence exposed how miserable their life had been.
She was a beautiful single mom. Those people just couldn’t stop making disgusting assumptions about her. No wonder that boy didn’t like being told he looked like someone.
“Their father has passed away. They don’t have a father. Stop messing with me. I’m leaving right now!” Cristelle couldn’t bear spending one more minute in this place.
“You can’t go. And no one can take my babies away from me!” Linford’s suddenly thundering voice came out, threatening her.
Cody’s mouth dropped open. He didn’t say anything for a whole minute. And suddenly, he decided to defend his mom, like always, “Mommy! I’m going with you! Candace, this man is a bad guy!”
Candace was confused as she clasped Cristelle’s shirt with her little fist, staring at Linford with her wide eyes. Linford snapped, “Boy, you need to face the reality. I am your dad.”
Cody stuck his tongue out, “I don’t have a dad!”
Linford’s face darkened.
“Mr. Bradley, I know you’re a powerful man. But can you just let us go? Please, the babies are scared,” Cristelle sobbed. She was so afraid that this man would take her babies away. Her whole body was shaking.
“I’m not trying to scare you and the babies. I’m simply telling the truth. Cristelle, I am the father. And I won’t let you guys walk away from me anymore.” Linford refused to give in.
Cristelle’s eyes reddened in anger, “What the heck is this? How could you just jump out of nowhere and tell everyone that you’re their father? You’re not qualified to take my children away from me! Even if they’re truly your kids, I still won’t allow them to call you father because they don’t have one. I am the only family they have! Now, let me go!”
Linford didn’t go away, “No. They’re my babies too. They MUST stay with their real father.”
“You! You bastard!” Cristelle shouted, “Get away, or I swear…”
Her babies were her everything in this world. She wouldn’t let anyone take them.
Linford laughed coldly, “Are you trying to threaten me? If you want to go, you can go. But the babies need to stay.”
SLAP!
Cristelle slapped Linford across his handsome face.
The air froze.
Drew flinched. No one had ever dared to treat Mr. Bradley that way.
Linford’s eyes were angry and cold as he stared at her.
Cristelle met his gaze indignantly. She would never flinch in front of a man like this. She just didn’t expect him to be that devil that night. She would never forget that scary night.
