Cristelle didn’t see Cody when she came in. She had a bad feeling. Candace only cried, pointing outside. She looked so scared.
At this moment, the door was kicked open. The sound brought a scream out of Candace. The girl buried her head into Cristelle’s chest. Cristelle hurried to cover her daughter’s ears.
“Rose! What the heck are you doing?!” Cristelle was furious. How did this whore find her address?
Cody wouldn’t open the door to strangers. Rose must have used the key to come in. But how did she get the key to her apartment?
Rose sneered, “Give me the money. Mom and I will leave you alone!”
It was not gonna happen.
If Cristelle gave in this time, they would keep harassing her until nothing was left.
“Where’s Cody? Where did you take him?” Cristelle stood up, holding Candace in her arms, asking angrily.
Rose flickered her hair, “That little bastard has been taken away by my mom. If you don’t do as I say, you will never see him again!”
Cristelle was both shocked and scared, forcing herself to calm down, “This is kidnapping! You guys are breaking the law! Do you want to spend the rest of your life in prison? You’d better bring him back. I’ll still give you a chance to walk away.”
“Give us a chance? Are you foolish, Cristelle Friesley? Your son is in our hands. If you dare to call the police, Mom will fucking hang that little bastard. We don’t care to live if we can’t get the money. If you’re not afraid of losing your son, you can try us,” Rose screamed, “You don’t have protectors like before. Just think about it. Money, or your son!”
She still thought Cristelle was a wuss puss like before.
If Cristelle hadn’t gone through those things, she would probably beg Rose to have mercy. But now, things are different. She wouldn’t give in to anyone for her babies.
Cody was the most precious thing in this world to Cristelle. She would kill Rose and her mom without a second thought if anything happened to him.
Candace looked up at Cristelle confusingly, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Cristelle kept calm, “At least let me hear his voice.”
Rose loved to see the look on Cristelle’s face, calling her mom instantly, “Hello? Mom? Give your phone to that little bastard. Cristelle wanted to hear his voice. Don’t worry. She won’t dare to do anything.”
“Mom!” Tears welled up in Cristelle’s eyes when she heard Cody’s voice.
“Honey, you’re okay?”
Cody sounded like a little man, trying to calm her down, “I’m great. Ingrid brought me chicken nuggets and a happy meal.”
Cristelle wanted to cry but stifled her tears, “Don’t eat too much. Mommy’s still gonna make you dinner tonight.”
Cody sounded happy, “But just drank a huge cup of coke. And there is so much food left. I’m bringing them back to Candace.”
Rose sneered. This little bastard was so freaking stupid. Yet, he still had the mood to eat.
Cristelle wanted to say something more, but Rose snatched the phone away, “Now that you heard his voice. Don’t you think it’s time to give us the money?”
Cristelle held Candace tightly. “Okay. I can give you the money. But I need my son to be around.”
“You’re quite suspicious, huh?” Rose laughed coldly, “Alright. But you need to give me 500 grand first. And… this apartment looks nice. I need you to transfer this property under my name.”
“The procedure won’t be finished that fast. I need to see my son right now,” Cristelle delayed it purposely, waiting for the police to come, “I’ll just give my credit card to you. And you need to bring me to my son. When I see him, you can also have the house.”
“No problem,” Rose was so happy. She thought Cristelle was still a stupid woman as before. So she took the card and walked out of the house. Rose always thought Cristelle was a coward. She didn’t know Cristelle would really call the police.
Rose pushed the door open, a smug smile on her face, “Just come with me. That little bastard of yours still thinks he’s hanging out with my mom. You’re such a jinx. Your son doesn’t even know who his real father and your daughter is a retard. I would kill myself if were you.”
Cristelle’s arms tightened around her crying daughter, following Rose out of the door.
When Rose walked out of the door, a couple of policemen suddenly dashed out of the corner and pinned her against the wall, “Stay still, ma’am!”
Rose screeched, her face twisted in fear.
She only realized what was happening when the policemen handcuffed her, cursing like a mad woman, “Cristelle Friesley! You fucking whore! How dare you call the police! You slut!”
She didn’t expect this coward to fight back.
“Do you still want to see your son or not?” Rose struggled, but she couldn’t get away from the police.
“Shut up!” One of the policemen shouted, “Take her to the car!”
Rose was pushed into the elevator. Candace started to cry again as the chaotic scene unfolded.
Cristelle patted the girl’s back to comfort her as she talked to the police anxiously. “Catching her is not enough. My son is still with her mom. I don’t even know where they are right now.”
“Don’t worry, ma’am. We’ve located your son. And we’ve sent a force to rescue him,” one of the officers comforted Cristelle.
“Can I go with you guys? I’m really worried,” She needed to see Cody by herself.
“I don’t think it’s safe for you, ma’am.”
“But I really need to see my son,” Cristelle approached them.
At this moment, Cristelle suddenly heard a deep voice, “I can take you to see him.”
Cristelle whipped around and saw Linford. He was in a sharp black suit, standing at full height.
The police officer smiled, “Are you gonna come with us, Mr. Bradley?”
“What? Am I not allowed to?” Linford cast him a stern look.
“Of course, you can go with us. But please make sure you’re safe.”
The police officer looked embarrassed.
“Sure,” Linford turned to Cristelle, “Let’s go.”
Cristelle hesitated for a while but followed him.
