Chapter Forty Eight

Book:Revenge From A Mafia In Love Published:2024-5-1

Allie stayed with Shirley till the next day. She hated to admit but she missed Luke even after the terrible thing he did to her. She decided to go to his house. She wasn’t really going to see him, she wanted to go get her things. She decided to live with Shirley until she figured her life out or until she gave birth to her baby.
She was now ready to go to Luke’s house.
Minutes later, she arrived at his house through cab.
When she got there, she entered the passcode to the door. She’d soon forget it, she hoped so.
She opened the door, detesting the fact that she hoped Luke would be at home. She got in and only the workers came to greet her.
“Is he home?” She asked
“No, ma” they replied
“What about his ex wife, is she home?”
“Miss Rachel left the house since yesterday” one replied.
She rolled her eyes as she walked past them and headed to the room. Their absence wasn’t her concern. She only wanted to pick her things and leave Luke’s house and life for good.
Somehow, she wished Rachel would leave Luke when she was gone. Luke deserved someone better than his ex. Not like she cared. He’d already slept with her so maybe they deserved eachother.
Minutes later, she was already done filling the first suitcase with her clothes and undergarments.
She still had two suitcases to fill. She decided to come back the next day. She couldn’t carry much load because of her pregnancy.
As she rolled down her suitcase and headed for the door, a maid stopped her.
“Madam Allie” she asked. “are you leaving for good?”
Allie forced a smile.
“Obviously”
She was about going but the maid’s plea made her halt in her tracks.
“Please don’t”
Allie slowly turned. “you won’t understand. Take care of yourself, okay?”
“Sir Luke is innocent” she said
“What?” Asked Allie, confused.
“I didn’t put much meaning to it but yesterday, Miss Rachel asked me to leave the kitchen after preparing sir Luke’s coffee. She hadn’t done it before so I thought it was strange”
“Then I saw you crying yesterday as you ran out of the house. I put two and two together and figured it out. After Miss Rachel asked me to leave the kitchen, she called me back and told me to go and serve sir Luke his coffee”
Allie’s hand immediately slid from the handle of the suitcase. Her mouth formed an ‘o’ in shock. She quickly ran to the kitchen and looked at the ceiling. Luckily, Luke’s house had a CCTV camera. In a flash and without thinking twice, she immediately ran to Luke’s study. He had a computer there and she could easily access the footage.
She easily found the kitchen footage clip and she also found yesterday’s footage. Thank God for Luke’s sense of security.
She covered her mouth to stifle a cry as she watched as Rachel spiked Luke’s coffee. She followed the recording to Luke’s study, when he drank the coffee and she stopped watching when Rachel came onto Luke.
She was wrong. Luke hadn’t cheated on her. This realisation made her heart shake and she let out heavy sobs.
That Rachel was getting more and more sly and obsessive. She would never let her snatch Luke.
“I missed you, Luke” she whispered as she continued crying

“Sir, I’ve arranged the documents” Luke’s secretary said to him
He didn’t answer. He’d spaced out.
“Sir?” Her strong voice made him jolt into consciousness.
“What is it?” He asked
“Sir, I said I’ve arranged the documents”
“That’s good. Keep them, I’ll go through it tomorrow” he said
“Okay, sir” she replied
As he watched her leave, his mind drifted back to Allie. He didn’t know why he’d hired a female secret again. Maybe because he wanted to be reminded of Allie.
Damn, he missed her like crazy. It had only been two nights without her but it felt like two months. Did he actually come onto Rachel? What made him drunk? The last he remembered, he was working in his study and his maid brought his coffee as usual, which he drank and boom! He woke up naked the next morning with Rachel on his bed. What the hell happened? Coffee couldn’t make someone wasted like that, or was he drugged? He had to investigate it but first… Allie
She wanted a divorce. He couldn’t give her a divorce because they’d just married and he didn’t want to let her go that easily. He wanted to make love to her every moment of the day.
Exhausted and seeing his thoughts were unproductive, he decided to head home.
It took him less than an hour to get home and in no time, he’d climbed up the stairs.
As he opened the door to his room, he saw Allie.
Dear God, it was as if she’d materialised from his thoughts.
He pinched himself to be sure he wasn’t dreaming.
“Allie?”
“I’ve missed you, Luke” teary eyed, she ran to him and wrapped her arms around him.
As shocked and elated as he was, he hugged her back, hoping this moment would last.
Allie stood on the tip of her toes and kissed him. A rush of emotions gnawed at his belly as he kissed her back.
Ferociously, hungrily.
she emitted a soft moan of pleasure and carry her to bed. Suddenly all he could think about was seeing that expression on her face while he pleasured her.
“I want you…” he husked.
Allie froze like a cornered kitten, blue eyes flying wide as she stared back at him, a tiny pulse beating like crazy just above her collarbone.
“I meant to wait… I intended to wait for you to come back to me or for you to accept me back when I go to you”  Luke confided thickly as he sprang gracefully upright. “But now I’m looking at you, I can’t.”
Her mouth ran dry while the blood in her veins ran hotter than lava. He towered over her, all male, decidedly exotic and stunningly sexy in his pristine robes. Her gaze locked tight to him, her heartbeat quickening, her breath feathering in her throat while her lungs laboured to fill again. That stillness, that primal sexual awareness that engulfed her was exactly what had made mincemeat of her principles when she had first met him. It shocked her that that could happen to her again, cutting through her new maturity, her bitterness and distrust to leave only the mindless yearning she had once suppressed.
