Nineteen
– Hannah Mae’s POV –
“Pass your answer sheets to the front.” Mr. Rosales ordered as he clapped his hand.
I was almost to the last number but I guess I’ll skipping it since it’s almost time. I handed my answer sheet to my classmate in front of me when King stole it from my hand. My brows furrowed as I followed it with my eyes.
I blinked and I peered my eyes at him while he answered the last few numbers of my answer sheet.
“Hey. What are you doing?” I asked.
“Filling in your heart.” He gave me a quick look with a smirk and continued answering, “I mean filling in the blanks.”
I wasn’t able to make another protest until he finished. He gave me a playful wink as he passed it to my classmate in front of me.
I frowned at him, “Sir will noticed it. You’ll be in trouble.”
He chuckled with confidence, “I’ll take care of it.”
My lips were twitching as I surpassed a laughed and frowned at him. He was grinning at me as he secretly reach for my hand. He squeezed it and softly caressed it.
Sir was collecting the answer sheets at the front row when the bell finally rang. My classmates immediately stood before our teacher could finished collecting the answer sheets. Others were already standing next to the door. Waiting for sir to say his goodbye.
“I hope to see you all in the graduation.” Sir stated as he took his last glance at us, “Goodbye, class and advance congratulations.” Sir gave us his warm smile before he left the room.
My classmates were cheering and some immediately followed him outside. They were so excited to the end the exam.
“Hey girls.” I heard Vanessa’s cheerful voice towards us. She seems delighted, “Who’s up for street foods?”
I really wanted to tag along with them but…
“But it seems, Hannah has other appointments.” Clarisse added as she glanced at me with a grin.
Vanessa shoots me a look like she’s asking if I can come. I raise my brows as I thought of an excuse when King suddenly responds.
“She can come and perhaps I can, either.” He replied with a friendly smile.
I quickly turned to look at him with in surprise. I wasn’t expecting for that.
He smirked at me as he wrapped his arms around my waist, “You don’t need to choose between me and your friends. You can come with them while I can also tag along.”
My heart is about to melt after hearing his sweet voice. Most of the boys wanted a quality time with their girlfriends privately which is normal. However, having a quality time with my friends and him is important and difficult to maintain the balance. I’m glad that he understands it and that makes him so special.
“I know you miss hanging out with them.” He stated in his deep tone when I was grinning the entire time while staring at him with no responds.
“How genuine. Sweet and lucky.” Vanessa teased while pouting.
King and I turned to look at her while grinning and I heard King chuckled after.
While smiling, Clarisse pulled Vanessa closed to her and wrapped her arms around hers, “Don’t worry, Vanessa. You got me.”
We all laughed as Clarisse and Vanessa kept on teasing us. This two is the best of all friends I ever had. And King is a blessing. I couldn’t ask for more or anything. I already had friends that I could call special of all best friends and boyfriend that genuinely loved me.
“Thanks for this, Hannah.” Clarisse said with a natural smile.
After drinking my juice, I nodded, “Don’t mention it.”
“Actually, I was planning to treat you all.” King stated with a few crumbs of Takoyaki in his mouth.
“But you didn’t.” Vanessa replied.
“Of course.” He paused as he smirked, “You might possibly want me so I change my mind.”
Vanessa laughed while Clarisse chuckled and I was surpassing myself to laugh because my mouth was full.
“Is there anything more cheesy than that?” Vanessa laughed.
He chuckled, “Mozzarella.”
Clarisse and Vanessa laughed while I giggled as I tried to prevent myself from laughing and covered my mouth with my hand. In case some crumbs will come out of my mouth, my palms would catch it, instead of flying to their faces.
We bought the same Takoyaki that I used to buy with King and sat at the usual bench where we used to talk. I felt delightful while having quality time with the ones close to my heart. It was so rare to have them both while hanging out. So I cherish every single tik tok of the clock that pass by.
“You’re so lucky, Hannah.” Vanessa complimented while playing with her Takoyaki, “King is so faithful and thoughtful.”
I grinned as I tried not to chuckled, “It’s a blessing, Vanessa.”
“Now I know why my body feels heavy.” King spoke.
“Why is it?” I asked with a grin.
He smirked, “Considering that I’ve been carrying faithfulness and thoughtfulness in me. And not to mention my handsomeness.”
I wasn’t able to hold back and I joined Vanessa and Clarisse laughed, but still in a controlled manner.
Vanessa sighed, “Seriously. I really wanted to have a thoughtful and faithful man but I can’t seem to find it.”
“Search my name in Google.” King joked.
Clarisse and I giggled as Vanessa grinned. He is trying his best to be funny.
“Don’t be impatient, Vanessa. It will definitely come.” Clarisse gave her an advice.
“It will never come.” King interrupted again.
All of our heads turned to him while Vanessa frowned. King took glances at us while raising his brows.
“Obviously, Hannah already owns me so it will never come.” He said while smirking.
I slowly closed my eyes as I slapped his lap and clenched my jaw. The two softly chuckled while he was grinning from ear to ear.
I turned to look at the two girls and smiled, “To be honest, girls.” I paused as I gather my thoughts together, “I wasn’t really into relationships because I wanted to focus on loving myself.”
I just heard him smirked, “Self-loving doesn’t suit you.”
I turned to look at him as I furrowed my brows. Here he goes again. But I like it. He is keeping me happy.
“You really need my love.” He grinned like his mouth is about to be thorn.
The two girls again giggled as I bit my lower lip to prevent myself from giggling.
“He’s so damn sweet, Hannah.” Clarisse giggled, “Why don’t you do the same towards him?”
I pressed my lips as I composed myself, “No. I’d rather not.”
With a half smile, the two peered their eyes at me. Looking puzzled.
“He might end up having diabetes or toothache.” I was holding back a laugh but I eventually wasn’t able to hold it when the two chuckled.
The two laughed. They seemed enjoying his company and as of me, I don’t need to say it. I love being with him. I wanted to be with him every single day.
“Oh shoot!” Vanessa exclaimed as she glanced on her wristwatch, “Its almost five.”
“Oh no. We better get going.” Clarisse said in a disappointing tone.
I grinned at them, “Take care, girls.”
“Same goes to the both of you.” Vanessa replied as she stood as well as Clarisse.
I waved my hand towards them as I smiled and they did the same towards us while King just nodded with a smile.
When the two was totally gone, he moved closer to me and put his arm around my waist.
He was grinning when he turned to look at me, “Enjoying?”
I gave him a warm smile, “So for so good.”
I rest my head on his shoulder as I held his free hand and played with it. His hand was so warm and I love how it felt on my skin. It keeps me relax.
“King, can I keep you?” I whispered as I keep playing with his fingers.
I catch a glimpse of him looking at our hands as he held my hand with his hand that I’m playing with.
“You’re already keeping me.” He whispered back in his deep tone. I felt his breath on my head that made me calm and wanted to take a nap on his shoulder.
I softly chuckled, “Can you drop by the house? I already missed sleeping on your arm.”
I heard him smirked, “Sure. Let’s go.”
I smiled as I sat up. But before I could stood, I heard my phone buzzed. I quickly reach for my backpack and search for my phone inside.
I received a message and mom’s name was on the screen. I tapped on her name and her message appeared.
‘Sweetie, can you be kind enough to ask Daniel to drop by the house?’
‘From: Mom’
Good timing. I already asked him.
I tapped the message box at the bottom of the screen and type the word ‘Will do.’. And after, I tapped the arrow button beside the message box to send the message.
I lifted my head to smile at him who was narrowing his eyes at me, “Mom texted me and she asked me to ask you to drop by.”
“That’s great. We’re on our way.” He stated.
I put back my cellphone in my backpack as I stood as well as him. Just as we started to walk, my heart suddenly beat fast. So fast that made my palms cold. I placed my hand to my chest and I could feel every beat of it.
“What’s wrong?” I heard his worried voice and it made me automatically look at him.
I forced a smile, “Nothing.”
He doesn’t seem convinced, considering how he narrowed his eyes at me. He held my hand as he pulled me closer to him.
“Your hands are cold.” He said in a worried tone, fixing his gaze at me.
I swallowed, “I’m kind of nervous. I don’t know why.”
“Relax. I got you.” He whispered as he tightened his hold on my hand.
I smiled at him and looked down. His tone sounded comforting but it doesn’t ease my nervousness.
I looked at him again. His brows furrowed and he also seems bother with something. Does he felt the kind of nervous I felt? I kept on staring at him and I saw a sweat broke from his forehead.
I think he noticed that I was looking at him so he turned to meet my gaze.
“Hmmm,” He raised his brows like asking what.
I smiled at him, “I love you, King.”
He grinned as he moved closer to me and planted a small kiss on my forehead, “I love you. As much as you love me.”
The main door was ajar when we arrived at home. My heart was pounding like I could almost hear it’s beat. I couldn’t breath normally as my palms were sweating. This weird feeling made me refuse to open the door.
My hand formed a fist as I reached the doorknob. My hand is shaking but I gather all my courage to open the door.
In my surprise, I saw mom sitting on the couch, across her was Aunt Jenalyn sitting on a separate couch and on their center was grandma and King’s grandpa hugging.
All their eyes turned to us as we entered the house.
What is happening?
