After dropping by the City Hall to submit the documents, Jacob went straight to the hospital. “Sshh…” as soon as he stepped into Joyce’s room, Tristan glared at him.
Looking around, he noticed Joyce sleeping on her hospital bed, while Tristan was sitting on the chair next to it, holding her hand. ‘How sweet! I wish it was Belle instead,’ he muttered.
Jacob rooted for Belle, he wanted her to be his boss and friend’s future partner. Unfortunately, things turned out unexpectedly and Tristan had already made his choice. He could only feel sad for the love team he was cheering for.
Tristan slowly removed Joyce’s hand from his so as not to wake her up. He then walked towards the couch, not far from Joyce’s bed. Jacob immediately sat down next to him to give him a report.
“I visited your grandfather, he asked me to tell her to visit him. Maybe whatever it is he has for Belle, he wants to give it personally.” Tristan nodded before gesturing for him to proceed. “I’ve also submitted the divorce papers. I want to remind you though, that we still have 24 hours to withdraw it. Is your decision final?”
Tristan nodded, hesitantly. “I really have to do it.”
“Well, it’s your life anyway. I just feel sorry for Belle and you. I know how you guys love each other,” Jacob stated while eyeing him.
“I told you, I can’t get married to anyone in Joyce’s current condition. Unless she can accept it, I can’t. Otherwise, she’ll try to kill herself again. I can’t let her do that, I can’t let her die.”
Although they were talking quietly, Joyce was able to hear everything they said. Gritting her teeth, she started cursing at Belle in her mind.
Tristan, on the other hand, lifted his head to look at the woman. Ever since he got here, he kept staring at her, trying to recall when he first fell for her and why.
‘Was it when I found out that she saved me?’ he thought. He immediately dismissed the idea. No matter what he thinks, there’s only one answer in his mind anyway. It’s that he’s in love with Belle now and he sees Joyce as nothing more than his savior.
“By the way, Eric sent you a message. He’s asking if you’ll be at Eden tonight,” Jacob suddenly remembered the text he had received earlier.
“Yeah, I’ll be there. I need to talk to him about something.”
After a few minutes, Jacob decided to leave. He needed to be in the office to finish some of the documents they left when they rushed to the hospital.
That night, “Wowwwwwwwww!” Nathalie exclaimed, with both eyes and mouth wide open after seeing Belle’s car.
“This is the fruit of my divorce!” Belle bragged, pointing at her car and tapping its hood.
Nathalie approached it, shaking her head while eyeing the gorgeous, horseless carriage of her friend. “Do you think I’ll get one if I marry Jacob and divorce him the next day?” Both women laughed. Belle hugged Nathalie tightly, making the other woman shriek. “I’m actually happy for you,” Belle was told.
Upon hearing this, her smile immediately turned upside down. “You’re happy I got married on paper?”
Nathalie shook her head right away, implying it was a false accusation. “I’m happy that, despite what you went thru, you managed to find a gold pot in the end,” nodding towards her friend’s car after saying that.
“I’m still sad that we had to divorce,” she then let out a long, depressing sigh. “I didn’t even get to taste him,” then she laughed out loud.
Nathalie immediately covered her mouth. “You’re so vulgar!” she snorted, trying hard to suppress her laughter at her friend’s foolishness. “Let’s just go get drunk!”
Belle immediately followed her friend inside Eden. They went straight to the VIP lounge Nathalie reserved for them even before she came.
As soon as they were inside, the waiter started serving their drinks. “Vodka? Really?” Belle exclaimed and Nathalie immediately nodded.
“Let’s drink your sorrow away!” she exclaimed before laughing out loud.
They decided not to close the door so that they could hear the music from downstairs. They are not in the mood to sing.
An hour later, both of them started dancing while standing on the couch. Waving their hands in the air and banging their heads left and right. Both women danced as if they had no care for the world. They’re just enjoying the moment, here and now.
Jacob stopped at the sight. He was about to open the door to the VIP room next to Belle and Nathalie’s for Eric and Tristan when she saw the women dancing. He can’t help but laugh.
“What’s wrong?” Tristan asked, as he didn’t continue making way for them.
Instead of answering his boss, Jacob gestured towards the room next to theirs. Eric turned his head to look as well.
Both men were shocked, they couldn’t help chuckling at the women as well. They both looked like they’d gone crazy, dancing wildly among themselves.
“Are you sure you just divorced her?” Eric asked, he couldn’t even close his mouth and stop himself from grinning. “She looks like she’s having the time of her life!”
Tristan frowned before glaring at his friend. “Shut up!” he snapped, forcing the door open and closing it with a bang.
Jacob and Eric exchanged glances, shrugged at one another, and chuckled. They both find Tristan weird at times, especially when it comes to Belle.
When it comes to the woman, he always has a hard time hiding his emotions. Like at this very moment, he was obviously pissed after seeing Belle having a good time, and both Jacob and Eric could tell.
‘How can she celebrate when we just divorced?’ Tristan couldn’t help but think, while he downed his glass.
“Belle looks so happy, I can’t believe she just divorced,” Eric chuckled. “Oh well, the divorce is not something she should be sad about, it’s all on paper anyway,” he added.
Tristan glared at him, opening his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but chose not to continue. What good could he say anyway when Eric stated the truth?
Yes, he got married to Belle. But just like what his friend said, it was all on paper. They didn’t really spend time together as husband and wife.
‘What a waste, he should have been pregnant by now,” Tristan couldn’t help but think of such a possibility.
He regrets divorcing Belle if he was to say how he truly feels. However, he can’t just let Joyce take her life just because of this marriage.
He was in a dilemma, to say the least. Sadly, he can’t really do anything about it. Not at the moment. But he hopes that someday, he can marry Belle for real.
