Natasha
Natasha and Azrael walked past the still river, her eyes wondering, looking a the boats and the carving inside them. She still needed to understand the language; Souls were boarding boats. As she studied, they were still unoccupied.
“I always wondered what this carving means?”
“It’s Sanskrit; they are numbers and stating the mortal realm they traveled to,” Azrael explained.
“You know Sanskrit,”
Azrael nodded.
“How many worlds are there?” She asked, straightening up and taking his hand. He squeezed it.
“That is a question even the Fate Lord can’t answer, but the world’s actual life in them is around 4778 this hour,”
“The number changes?”
“What did you think your earth is the only earth?”
“No,” It’s arrogant, but the idea of the universe wait…creation to be so significant is hard to swallow. 4778 active worlds this hour.
“Natasha!” Jody’s eyes widened, and she tried to step out of line a male guardian stopped her.
“Miss, you are not allowed to break the line,”
Jody’s familiar brown eyes come into the view
It was only yesterday that she saw her, and she could not believe she had died a few hours later. What happened? Those soldiers from Light of the realm got to Jody. No, no, they were after her. It is impossible. She looked at Azrael, who gave her a comforting smile.
“How?” she asked.
Natasha ran to her, looking over the long line, and the guardian bowed.
“Chuck, give the lady’s record book?” Azrael asked.
“Yes, my Lord,” He materialized a scroll in his hand and handed it to Azrael.
“Wow,” Jody’s eyes widen in wonder, “Hang on, why is everyone bowing to you?”
“They are not bowing to me; they are bowing to him,” Natasha pointed out to Azrael. Natasha took the scroll from Azrael. She was scanning the long thick parchment. Wait, something is wrong. This says she died at the age of 56.
“Natasha, I looked for you everywhere that night, but you disappeared!”
Natasha looks back at her eyes surprised. Hurt and concern were evident in her eyes.
“I am so sorry, Jody, I never got to explain to you.”
“My, her boat is about to leave; we have to….” The guardians look at Azrael.
“Natasha,” Azrael put a hand on her shoulder, and she looks at him.
“We can not delay what already happened,”
Natasha looks at Jody, her last connection to human life. Now it is truly gone, the back of her eyes sting, and she handed back the scroll.
“How did I come here? Natasha, were you dead all this time? I have never forgotten that day you disappear,”
She will forget everything when she boards that boat and they leave.
“It is fine; I was always supposed to be here,” Natasha hugged her.
“I am good,” Natasha said, hugging her tighter.
“Good, you look different, happy,” Jody smiled and walked away. Natasha saw her getting into the boat, and the ferrymen stirred it away.
Natasha turns away, and Azrael’s arms come around her.
“She will exist somewhere always,”
“I know,” her voice thick, “It is just she is the last one I…” tears fall from her eyes.
“I know,” Azrael rubbed her back soothingly, “I am sorry,” He kissed her forehead. She buried her face in his shoulder and held on tightly.
