BETH.
I stood up from the sofa and wore my slippers. I was about to switch on my TV when I heard a knock on the door. I wasn’t expecting anyone, and it was weird for anyone to visit me at this time of the day. My eyes went to the wall clock, the time was 12:27 in the afternoon. Normally, I should be at work but I was home because I took a day off, so I wondered who would come to visit me without first thinking of the possibility of not meeting me at home.
I headed to the door and opened it. It turned out to be Tony, much to my surprise. “Tony?” I muttered, a look of surprise on my face.
“Hey, Beth. Can I come in?” He asked, his voice dull.
“Uhm, yeah sure,” I said and moved aside. He walked in and I closed the door. Expecting that he would have entered the sitting room and taken his seat, I was a bit startled when I turned to see him standing right behind me with his arms folded. “Oh my God, you startled me,” I said as my hands went to my chest in a reflex action.
“Sorry about that.” He simply replied.
I walked closer to him, hands akimbo, and looked up at his face. “Are you okay? You seem a little dull, or is it just me that’s overthinking it?” I asked him curiously.
“Why didn’t you tell me that the baby Lara was carrying wasn’t mine?” He blurted out. Immediately after he asked, my heart skipped two beats. I cleared my throat as I moved a little bit backwards from him.
He was probably guessing and wasn’t sure about it. All I needed to do was to deny the accusation and act like I didn’t know what he was talking about. I thought as I hugged myself because I was beginning to feel cold from the inside. “Uhm, what are you talking about?”
“Beth, I know you know what I’m talking about. This ain’t no joke.” He said. His face remained dull, but a serious expression was on his face.
“I ain’t joking here too, Tony. What’s this accusation about?” I asked, faking a bold and serious face.
“Really? You want to tell me that you had no idea that your best friend pinned someone else’s baby on me?” He asked and scoffed. “Did you have no idea about it? Or you’re trying to cover her up again?” He asked. I could see a look of disappointment and hurt on his face. He was disappointed in me, and I understood that. I would have felt the same way if I was in his shoes.
“Tony, I respect you a lot. But coming into my house to accuse me of something I don’t even know what you’re talking about is making me pissed. If you can’t explain yourself, then please, leave. I’m not very okay at the moment, and as you know, I should be at work by now. The only reason you met me at home is that I wasn’t feeling too well. I’d appreciate it if you don’t add more to my headache and stress at the moment,” I said to him sternly. That was all I needed to do to cover up for Lara and myself. As long as he didn’t have any evidence, he had nothing against me. I was good at playing this game, and I’d play it to the last card.
“Here,” he said and brought out a paper from the right pocket of his trouser and handed it to me.
“What… what is that?” I asked with a shaky voice. My heart had begun to beat again by now, as I wondered about what the paper could contain. I collected the paper from him and unfolded it. I read through the paper and when I got to the end of the paper, I closed my eyes as I felt electric sparks in my body. What I was avoiding had finally happened. Tony has found out that Lara wasn’t carrying his baby. But how did he do it?
A part of me was happy about it, but the other part felt sad. I could sense that something bad was about to happen between Tony and Lara, and that made me scared. This will only cause trouble for me too because sooner or later, the news of me carrying Tony’s baby will also get out. And I wasn’t ready for that in any way.
“You knew about this, right?” He asked, his voice calm. My eyes remained stuck to the paper, and I couldn’t look up at his eyes because I felt bad. “Look at me and speak like the Beth I know. Why didn’t you tell me that I was nursing another man’s pregnancy?!” His voice was beginning to get raised by now. “Why didn’t you tell me that I was being cheated on by the woman I left hoeing around for? Yet, you kept telling me not to cheat or hurt her, when you knew she was the bad egg in this relationship! No, Beth. I don’t believe you can do this to me. Disappointed is an understatement for what I feel for you at the moment.”
Tears trickled down my face as I felt a sharp pain in my chest that left as quickly as it came. There was no need to lie anymore, the truth was out. I looked up at Tony. “I’m sorry, Tony,” I sniffed. “I was going to tell you, but I couldn’t. It would be like I was trying to break your relationship with her. Besides, I didn’t want her to know about what transpired between us. And it was insane to tell you that Lara left you for Damien and came back because she found out he was already married! It was insane to tell you that she had other sex partners and she pinned the baby on you because you had money and you seemed to be blinded by your love for her! If I had told you all this, it would be like I was against her because I was carrying your baby too! I would look like a bad friend and everyone would say I told on her because I loved you!” I ranted on and on in between tears. I couldn’t take the pain in anymore, so I let it all out to him. “It’s not my fault that I loved you ever since our first night together, but you came back as my best friend’s man! I still love you, and-”
“That was all I needed to hear,” Tony said and pulled me closer to him. “All I wanted to know was that you still love me because I also love you. I love you a lot, Beth.” That took me by surprise and guess what was even more surprising? He didn’t wait for me to reply before he landed his lips on mine.
As he pressed his body to mine, our kisses grew deeper, tongues dancing, exploring. I could feel my big tits mashed against him, my nipples standing firm. Slowly, he began traversing my body, kissing down my neck, licking, nipping the sensitive flesh of the nape of my neck.
I felt an ecstasy I didn’t want to end, but it didn’t last long, as my front door went ajar, making us jerk away from each other immediately. Our heads shot towards the door to see the person that barged in like that without knocking.
My mouth and eyes opened wide in shock as my hands went up to cover my mouth.
“What the fuck is going on here?!” Lara exclaimed, a look of shock on her face.
