Jeremy’s Pov:
I hunned my car and soon, the gate was swiftly upended and I drove in.
I drove pass the big waterfall straight to the garage and parked my car there, along with the uncountable cars that were already there.
I came out of the car and few of the boys in the building came to me.
“Hey, Jer. Wats up?” They asked and I just exchanged a nigga handshake with them and headed inside.
I wasn’t entirely in the mood for any conversation.
I met other boys along the way and they kept throwing greetings at me.
“good to have you back Jeremy” Tonio, -kind of my best friend- said just as I was about opening the door and I scoffed.
“I was here few days ago, Tonio” I replied as he stood beside me and we walked into the mansion together.
“Yeah, I know.
But to be sincere; the mansion is more fun whenever you’re around.
“By the way, DC has been waiting for you. He needs you to do something”.
I didn’t say any other thing as we walked in and right around the entrance, I met DC- my brother.
He’s actually the boss in the business and I can be considered his personal assistant because we’re brothers.
And want to know what DC stands for?
Well, it stands for Double Crosser.
Yes. My brother isn’t someone you joke around with.
That’s why everyone is afraid of him – and me.
“Hey, bro” I said as I stood in front of him.
I’m the only one who gets to call him that casually.
Everybody calls him DC.
Even his clients.
“What took you so long, Jeremy?” He asked as he puffed out smoke from his cigarette.
He had three armed men behind him.
“I’m sorry. I got hooked up with something” I replied, a little uneasy
“Something like what?” he asked and I scoffed.
Well, that’s one thing about my brother.
He’s always too inquisitive.
I didn’t say a word and next, he brought out a gun and threw it at me.
“Take care of the job in room 12; the one I told you about.
And make sure it’s done” he told me and I nodded and watched him walk away.
“I’ll be around” Tonio said and left and I also walked away, heading to room 12.
The building was really very big and had so many rooms on it.
Well, it suited our progression.
I got to the room and walked in with two other boys and there I met the victim – a woman seated on the floor, with her eyes and mouth banded.
She whimpered as she heard the door open.
I went to her and slowly took off the band from her eyes and mouth.
She squeezed her eyes and gasped immediately.
“Oh, my God!
Please, let me go. I haven’t done anything.
Where’s my son? Please, take me to him. Don’t hurt him, please.
Let us go” she said tearfully without a pause and I just let her finish.
“You and your son will be fine; once you give us what we need.
“Who came to your house to pay your husband a visit two nights ago?
And want is the pin to the safe In your husband’s room?”
She busted into more tears and I sighed.
“Crying won’t do you any good, Mrs Smith. You’re just wasting your time” I told her and she looked at me.
“it… It was Fabian Adiente” she replied.
“He was the one who had visited my husband”.
“And the pin to the safe?” I asked and she bent her head and sobbed.
“Why do you need?
It means so much to my husband.
Please, just let us go” she whimpered.
“You have 20 seconds to tell me the pin to the safe” I stated icily and she gasped and looked at me with disbelieve.
“Did… did mark send you to do this?” She asked but I maintained a motionless face.
“10 more seconds” I said and she whimpered.
“4-9-5-7” she replied and I sighed and stood up.
“And for your son’s sake, I hope it’s the truth” I said as I started walking out of the room.
“Wait; where’s my son? Please, take me to him.
I’ve given you what you wanted. Please, let us go!” She cried as I walked out of the room with the two boys.
“Deliver the message to my brother. I’ll be in my room” I told them and they nodded and walked away.
I also turned around and took the stairs, headed for my room.
I threw the gun on the floor as I walked into my room and laid on the bed, facing the ceiling.
Well, this is who I am – the brother to the boss of the most dreaded gang in the city.
Even the authorities fear us.
And maybe it’s better that way.
