Charles Taylor gave an impatient look, then waved his phone to indicate.
“Oh, my phone number.” Emma Rosy suddenly realized, immediately followed his request to give the number, only to feel strange: “What do you need this for?”
Charles Taylor held back his laughter and said coldly, “When you meet with Eva in the future, you have to go through me first, understand?”
Emma Rosy peeped out her tongue, complained secretly, but agreed quite simply: “No problem, promise to do as requested.”
Charles Taylor was about to say something else when footsteps suddenly sounded not far away and Joe Wright approached with Keira in his arms.
Joe Wright’s appearance did not shock They,: “About Eva , I have something to say to Mr. Taylor, are you finished?”
Threatened by Joe’s eyes, Emma Rosy nodded hastily and said goodbye to Charles Taylor before scurrying into the car at the curb.
He curled his lips provocatively, “If I remember correctly, last time Mr. Wright still looked reluctant to talk, how come his attitude has changed so much in just a few days?”
Joe Wright sneered and choked, “Before Mr. Taylor was very displeased with Emma, now it seems that there is also a considerable change.”
Charles Taylor brought the conversation back to the point: “Go ahead, what is it.”
Joe Wright is not a small-minded man and made his feelings for Eva Taylor clear.
“I’m looking for a good woman to marry and pledge a lifetime of fidelity, and after making contact, I think Eva is a good fit.”
Charles Taylor can sympathize with his thoughts.
He knew his sister all too well. When she had love for motivation, she might be able to maintain her enthusiasm, but how long would it last? When she was completely dead to love and disappointed in life, how would the rest of her life proceed?
Thinking of her sadness and despondency in recent days, he finally sighed and said, “I won’t stop you from continuing to see each other if you want to, but you are not allowed to meet alone, and I… and Emma Rosy must be present.”
The three of them do get along awkwardly, plus Emma Rosy is more appropriate, but for some reason, the words from Charles Taylor’s mouth, Joe Wright always feel uncomfortable.
“It just so happens that I’m not comfortable with Emma meeting you alone either.”
After a slightly sarcastic reminder, Joe Wright turned around and went back the way he came.
In the back of the car, Emma Rosy is already asleep with Keira in her arms, only to be woken up by Joe Wright after returning to the old house.
The next day.
Eva Taylor woke up refreshed, washed up, ate all the snacks stored in her room, and prepared to start a hunger strike.
Before she could swallow the last bite of potato chips, the maid actually opened the door and invited her downstairs for breakfast.
“No more confinement?” She inquired in shock, the cookie crumbs hanging from the corner of her mouth twitching in response.
The well-trained maid replied calmly as if she hadn’t seen it, “Sir has given you permission to go out, and he has already spoken to Master Joe and Miss Richard about the details.”
Eva Taylor was full of doubts, but that didn’t stop her from dashing out the door to find Emma Rosy.
With a heart full of joy and doubts, Eva Taylor arrived at the old Wright Family house and just entered the courtyard when Joe Wright’s car came up to her.
It was the first time they had seen each other since returning from B-town, and she froze abruptly, so nervous that she didn’t know where to place her hands.
She was expecting to be ignored, but the car slowed to a stop beside her.
The window came down and the face she had been thinking about all night finally appeared in front of her eyes. She waved her hand, unable to hide her awkward greeting, “Hi, want… to go out?”
“Work.”
Joe Wright looks like business as usual, and quite leisurely teasing her: “Free?”
Hmm? Just a night of confinement, the news spread so quickly?
Eva Taylor nodded dumbly and couldn’t help but ask, “How do you know? Did my brother come after you again?”
Joe Wright gave a meaningful smile, but did not answer, and told her to ask Emma Rosy.
Eva Taylor stood still, watching the car window go back up, until the car drove out of the courtyard gate and turned a corner, disappearing from view, before withdrawing her eyes and continuing to the villa.
After greeting Master Wright, who was watching the morning news in the living room, she went straight up to the second floor and made her way to Emma Rosy’s bedroom, where she got permission to push open the door, only to see mother and daughter kneeling in front of the window playing with a puzzle.
“Come in and sit down.” Emma Rosy rubbed the top of Keira’s head, then got up and pulled Eva Taylor to her side, her eyes lingered on her hands for a second, then suddenly frowned: “Your hands are so cold, you didn’t walk here, did you?”
Knowing that Emma Rosy was joking, she did not explain, but only deliberately used her hand to press her face. They sisters chased and fought for a while, and the previous misunderstanding and embarrassment seemed to disappear without realizing it.
After learning about last night’s events, Eva Taylor was grateful: “It’s a good thing you were there, or I wouldn’t have known how long I would have been locked up, much less been able to… meet Joe.”
Eva Taylor then turned her words to reveal a sly smile, “I’m more curious about that antique old brother of mine actually taking the initiative to ask for a girl’s phone number.”
The more she looked around Emma Rosy, the more she thought she was the type of girl that men would like. Eva Taylor held her chin, pretending to be deep and reminded her, “Emma, you should be careful, don’t let my brother get to you.”
Emma Rosy handed Keira the pieces of the puzzle she was going to use and looked at Eva Taylor blankly, “What did you say?”
Eva Taylor spread her hands and looked helpless: “I said, if you were my sister-in-law, I’d be all for it!”
At that, Emma Rosy is even more strange, she is trying to set up Eva Taylor and Joe Wright, how can Eva Taylor ask her to be her sister-in-law in a flash?
She almost winced when she thought of Charles Taylor’s black face: “Your joke is not funny, it’s even a little scary.”
She’s so busy teasing Eva Taylor that she doesn’t notice Keira stop working on her puzzle for a moment after hearing their conversation.
Time flies when the maid comes upstairs and tells her that Master Wright has left Ms. Taylor for dinner, asking her what she likes and what she doesn’t like, and they realize it’s almost noon.
Eva Taylor stood up in a panic and kept chanting, “It’s over, it’s over, I have to hurry home, in case my brother knows I’m staying here, I’m sure I’ll be locked up again.”
“We’re here, we should at least meet Joe.” Emma Rosy pulled her back and held up her phone, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it for you.”
She fished out the newly saved number in her address book and dialed it, which was quickly answered.
Charles Taylor had just finished a meeting and was leaning back in his seat, his tone rarely lazy: “Eva went to your place?”
Emma Rosy did not dare to offend Charles Taylor, so she took a deep breath and answered truthfully: “Yes, she came to talk to me…. It’s almost lunchtime, and my grandfather wants to keep her with him, is that okay?”
There was a moment of silence across the table, and Emma Rosy and Eva Taylor couldn’t help but tense up, their hearts hanging high in the air.
“Joe Wright was there?”
“Yeah…” Emma Rosy admitted hesitantly.
