“What about my backpack? It’s just a white leather bag, it should be pretty recognizable.”
Emma Rosy eagerly described the backpack style, the girl was in a sporty style, if she took that bag, it must be very conspicuous.
The receptionist recalled a moment more, hesitantly nodded: “It seems to… be there, but covered by a hat, I did not look carefully.”
Emma Rosy no longer delay, immediately contacted the airline, asking for the girl’s contact information.
The company director, however, said he could not disclose the girl’s personal information, only to tell her that the flight had been canceled.
Having guessed this, Emma Rosy had no choice but to call the police.
She sat helplessly in a chair inside the police station, waiting for the police officer who had gone to the hotel to collect evidence to return.
A pair of leather shoes passed in front of her eyes, the material was high grade and well made, and one of Joe Wright’s shoes seemed to come from the same craftsman’s hand. She couldn’t help but look at it twice, but saw the shoes slowly retreating.
Bewildered, she looked up and met a surprised gaze.
“It’s really you, I thought I was mistaken!”
Randall Harrah is still glowing after days of absence, but his hair, which is usually well-groomed, is slightly disheveled at the moment.
Not expecting to meet here, Emma Rosy tried to get up, but Randall Harrah pushed her back with a slap.
“Sit down and talk.” Randall Harrah took a seat next to her without ceremony and asked why she was at the police station.
After recounting her tragic theft experience, Emma Rosy asked, “What about you? Here in B City on business?”
Randall Harrah shook his head and laughed in a droll manner, “You won’t believe me when I tell you that I came here on the same flight as you, only I was even more unlucky than you, because I thought the food in the hotel was bad and I wanted to go out for food, but I was hit by a car right after I left.”
“Ah?!”
Emma Rosy subconsciously exclaimed, her eyes darting around his body.
“Don’t be nervous, I’m fine.” Randall Harrah proudly displayed his biceps to Emma Rosy, without any fear of survival.
The police officers who took evidence from the hotel returned and confirmed several issues with Emma Rosy before deciding to open a case.
Randall Harrah’s car accident was also classified as an accident, and he left the police station with Emma Rosy after being vouched for by a friend.
It was late in the evening, and both of them were still hungry, so they found a restaurant nearby.
After choosing a seat, Emma Rosy looked through the menu while asking casually, “Mr. Harrah is on this flight, going on a business trip?”
Randall Harrah didn’t have to hide anything: “Same as you, I’m going to see Alex Brown. I’m afraid I won’t be able to see him one last time.”
Emma Rosy glared at him, knowing that he was doing it on purpose, so she didn’t continue the conversation and asked him to help find the backpack instead.
Before she finished the conversation, there was a sudden vibration.
Emma Rosy opened her phone, expecting another text message from the airline, and instead, a credit card statement appeared on the screen.
The bill showed that her lost credit card had just charged sixteen hundred dollars to this restaurant!
When she stood up and looked around, Randall Harrah looked confused: “What are you looking for?”
“The thief! The person who stole my bag is eating here!”
Not far away, the waiter was walking back to the front desk with the signed bill, she rushed after her and asked, Randall Harrah was stunned for a moment, and followed quickly.
The waiter was caught by Emma Rosy, slightly nervous towards a seat: “Indeed, there is a lady just finished the bill, but now… I do not know where she went.”
“What does she look like? Is it a ponytail, a little taller than me, painted with light makeup, wearing leather jeans?”
“Yes.” The waiter took a moment to recall and nodded with certainty.
Emma Rosy’s eyes searched around the empty seat while asking a follow-up question, “She also had a white backpack with her, did you see it?”
“This… I didn’t notice.”
Randall Harrah reminded her to check the restroom.
At that, Emma Rosy thanked the waiter and rushed to the restroom.
But there was still no sign of the girl, and when she returned to the lobby, she saw a crowd of people gathered at the entrance, and Randall Harrah was standing in the middle of the crowd, waving at her.
“Come here, is this the person who stole from you?”
Emma Rosy stared straight at the girl.
The girl, who had previously said that Randall Harrah had molested her and threatened to call the police, dropped her head instantly upon seeing Emma Rosy, her cheeks flushed red and her hands unconsciously gripping the strap of her shoulder bag.
“Where’s my bag?” Emma Rosy walked up to the girl with a few steps, her face grim and questioning.
The girl’s head was buried even lower: “It’s… outside the hotel in the… trash can.”
After Randall Harrah’s phone call, the police soon arrived, and several people took the girl to the scene of the incident for evidence.
What was not expected was that the trash can was empty.
According to the janitor, the trash cans here are cleaned once a day in the late afternoon, and now this time, it has been cleaned for a long time.
The garbage bags were gone, and the contents were nowhere to be found.
Emma Rosy was panicking, the police car happened to stop next to the girl was taken out by a female police officer.
The girl was taken out of the car by a policewoman: “Officer, please follow the legal procedures and give her the punishment she deserves. I will not settle this matter!”
A group of people returned to the police station, the girl was brought into the interrogation room, after several interrogations, realized that their actions really have to be serious legal responsibility, she asked to call her family.
Soon, a man claiming to be the girl’s brother-in-law arrived.
The man walked calmly and was dressed in an outfit of great value.
Inside the mediation room, Emma Rosy refused to talk.
