Chapter 177

Book:If Loving You Is Wrong Published:2024-5-29

“Doctor, is there anything else we can do to lower the temperature as soon as possible, Keira if the fever continues like this, I’m afraid …”
She turned her head to the attending doctor and asked with tears in her eyes.
After a moment of thought, the doctor hesitantly said, “She is too young, she just went through first aid, and her body will not be able to withstand the medication immediately. Maybe we can try physical cooling, but I can’t guarantee how effective it will be.”
As long as Keira could be saved, Emma Richard would try even if there was a glimmer of hope.
She hurriedly went to the bathroom and got a basin of warm, cool water, soaked a towel and wiped Keira’s hands inch by inch, starting with her hands. The wiping motion became more and more skillful, but there was no expression on her face, as if she were a robot doing a mechanical job.
Joe Wright, seeing her almost demonic appearance, was inexplicably a bit disturbed, and stepped forward to take her place, but as soon as he approached, he was forced to stop by a sharp gaze.
“Keira is my daughter, no one is allowed to touch her!”
Perhaps stimulated by Alex Roberts’ words, Emma Richard was paranoid and refused to let anyone near Keira, nor did she listen to any persuasion.
Alex Roberts’ headache continues, and his consciousness has gradually recovered. Seeing the scene before him, he blames himself and the pain has intensified.
Eric Chan has been observing his condition all the time. Seeing his voice trembling uncontrollably, he begged, “Go back to the hospital first. The doctors here don’t know your condition. They are really worried about Keira. You can send someone to take care of it.”
“Don’t talk!”
At this time, Joe Wright unexpectedly said, “If you can’t hold on, go quickly. If you fall ill, who will take care of you? Emma?”
The tone is merciless, but it is also kind. Alex Roberts did not lose his temper and responded faintly: “I can hold on.”
“What’s the use of staying like you?” Joe Wright is too lazy to talk nonsense with him: “Emma and Keira will be taken care of by me. It’s okay. You’d better not be an eyesore here!”
Say that finish, see Alex Roberts didn’t mean to leave, and winked at Eric Chan: “Afraid of you Mr. Roberts, right? Then let him die here and make sure that no one will oppress you in the future.”
A word awakens the dreamer.
Alex Roberts is used to being overbearing on weekdays, and no one dares to resist his decision, but his safety is at stake at present.
Moreover, Eric Chan, as a special assistant, respects him from the bottom of his heart, so he will take him back to the hospital at the risk of being punished.
“Mr. Roberts, offended.”
Eric Chan bowed to apologize, and then, in Alex Roberts’ warning eyes, took his arm on his shoulder with a strong attitude, lifted his step and walked away.
Alex Roberts tried to resist at first, but unfortunately he was exhausted and had no choice but to threaten with words.
After the noise, the ward was quiet again.
Joe Wright looks at Emma Richard with pity, but the latter is completely immersed in her world and ignores everything outside.
One day and one night, Emma Richard didn’t drop a drop of water.
Joe Wright persuaded, begged or even threatened not to let her take care of Keira any more. She was unmoved until the next morning, when the doctor came to the ward round, she was pleasantly surprised to say that Keira’s temperature had dropped, and she collapsed into a chair and reluctantly drank porridge.
After extreme fatigue, she lost sleep and refused Joe Wright’s suggestion to go home and rest. She stood by the window and stared at the sun rising in the distance.
The sunrise in autumn is crimson, and the gorgeous sunrise covers half of the sky, as if it were burnt, which makes people feel depressed.
“Grandpa, you are here.”
Hearing the sound of opening the door, Emma Richard turned and saw Master Wright in a wheelchair, and suddenly looked surprised.
Joe Wright took over from the bodyguard, pushed the wheelchair to the hospital bed, so that Master Wright could see Keira and tell her about Adams Harrah.
“I’m sorry Grandpa…” Emma Richard squatted in front of Master Wright and bowed her head guiltily: “I didn’t even know you were ill, and I didn’t go back to see you.”
Master Wright touched her head and smiled kindly: “Silly child, isn’t Grandpa quite good? Don’t look at the wheelchair, it’s Joe. They are too nervous. Come on, Grandpa will take a few steps to show you.”
Hearing this, Emma Richard and Joe Wright hurriedly stopped.
Emma Richard forbade him to take risks and threatened with a straight face: “You must take good care of yourself and listen to the doctor and your brother. If you get sick again, I will feel distressed to death.”
Just then, Keira’s attending doctor came and informed everyone of the latest examination results and preliminary treatment plan.
Emma Richard forced herself to be calm and asked, “Does Keira need a bone marrow transplant?”
“Not for now, her condition is not that serious yet, but there are many things that must be taken care of in life, such as eating a light diet, making sure the environment is clean, exercising properly, and also avoiding any exposure to bacteria …”
Out of professional habits, the doctor rattled off a lot, and seeing Emma Richard remembering the difficulties, proposed, “Let’s do it this way, I’ll list out the precautions, you do it first, and then you’ll naturally remember it later.”
At that, Emma Richard thanked her and prepared to follow the doctor to the office.
Knowing she was worried about Keira, Joe Wright left after the doctor, gesturing for her to stay with Keira and her grandfather.
“Keira’s lost weight again.”
Master Wright looked at Keira’s thin cheeks and was distressed: “She’s been sick since she was born. Joe asked around for ways to nourish her body and made her fat, but I didn’t expect that in just a few days. …”
Emma Richard inner sorrow is by no means less than Master Wright, but at this moment can only force out a smile, comforted: “You do not worry, the doctor just said it, her condition is not serious, the possibility of recovery is very high.”
No one can say what will happen in the future, but no matter how it ends, we must be hopeful at the moment, even if this hope is mostly self-congratulatory.
“Did Alex Roberts visit Keira?” Master Wright asked suddenly, after a long silence.
Emma Richard stiffened for a moment, then returned to her normal self and nodded in acknowledgement.
In the early morning light, she looked as if Alex Roberts was just a stranger’s name and had never been a part of her life.
Master Wright looked at her meaningfully, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he didn’t say a word, and turned his head and returned his gaze to Keira’s face.
The conversation should have ended there, but Emma Richard’s chest felt tight, and she was sure that Grandpa felt the same way.
So she took a deep breath and put on a relaxed face, “Grandpa, all I want to do now is take care of Keira and see that she grows up safe and happy. … I don’t think about anything else anymore.”
