Chapter 138

Book:If Loving You Is Wrong Published:2024-5-29

Judi Dench was anxious but could not help much.
On the other hand, Marisa was glued to Alex Roberts’ side without leaving a step.
“You’ve been a little clingy lately.” After Alex Roberts finished holding the papers in his hand, his eyes fell on Marisa who was lying on the sofa, and his eyebrows wrinkled slightly, as if he was a little uncomfortable.
“What’s wrong? Are you tired of me?” Marisa’s face showed a look of resignation after hearing his words, like a normal little girl complaining about her boyfriend.
“No.” Alex Roberts didn’t know why he had such a thought in his mind, and he didn’t feel the same about Marisa as before, which made him feel a little upset.
“I want to keep you company.”
Marisa got up and went to Alex Roberts’ side, and took his arm, with a pampered look.
But Alex Roberts unconsciously leaned to one side, wanting to keep a certain distance from her.
He did not know why, since he woke up, there is always a feeling of inexplicable desire to distance himself from her.
After Marisa sensed his movement, “You don’t like me anymore?” Her eyes rolled up, her voice was extremely aggrieved, and she blinked a few times as she spoke, tears then left her eyes.
The way she looked made Alex Roberts feel a little puzzled in his heart, reaching out and tugging a tissue to gently wipe her tears away.
“What’s going on in your head?” Although Alex Roberts’ heart felt that it didn’t feel right, but his memory was still stuck in the time when the two of them were in good condition, so naturally he didn’t suspect anything more.
But when his mind couldn’t help but cross the figure of Emma Richard, it made him confused.
At the same time, Emma found someone to investigate the doctor.
When Joe found out, he was a bit surprised and asked who this doctor was.
Emma Richard hesitated for a moment, “Alex Roberts had a car accident, and this is the doctor who treated him.”
Emma Richard’s eyes fell on the doctor’s address, and her expression was a bit complicated.
“How is he doing now?” Joe Wright’s heart felt inexplicably uncomfortable every time he heard Alex Roberts’ name from Emma Richard’s mouth, as if he was occupying a place in Emma Richard’s heart, making himself superfluous.
“He’s a stranger to me now, and I want to know what’s going on.” Emma Richard thought of the strangeness with which Alex Roberts had spoken to her that day and felt strange inside.
“Emma, I know you may not like to hear what I’m about to say.” Joe Wright saw the tangle on her face, and naturally knew the place Alex Roberts had in her heart, but “even if there is evidence that Alex Roberts did not kill your father, he is an indirect accomplice, Emma.”
He knew he would only be reopening the wounds in Emma Richard’s heart, but if he didn’t remind her, she might forget what Alex Roberts had done to the Richard Family.
Joe Wright kept convincing himself that he was doing all this for Emma Richard.
“I remember.” Emma Richard fell silent, just like Joe Wright thought, the previous scars were opened again and the blood couldn’t stop flowing out, “I know.”
Joe Wright seemed to be about to say something else but was interrupted by Emma Richard, “Joe, I want to be alone, is that okay?”
Her thoughts were too confused to deal with anything else.
After Joe Wright left, Emma Richard was the only one left in the room.
She stared out the window in disbelief, and as she was wondering what to do, her phone suddenly rang.
When she saw Judi Dench’s text message, she raised her hand and pressed her forehead, then put the phone in her pocket and walked toward the door.
“Look at this address.”
After the two met at the agreed location, Emma Richard opened her phone to the interface of the doctor’s photo.
She wasn’t quite sure what Emma Richard had found, except that something wasn’t quite right about this, “Something is wrong with this doctor?”
Judi Dench voiced her suspicions, and the answer came in the form of a nod from Emma Richard.
“You remember that Alex Roberts was awake when we returned to the hospital.” Emma Richard voiced her suspicions, “But he gave me the impression as if he had been there before. And he wasn’t resistant to Marisa, which can only mean that something else happened to him because of the crash.”
“And what if it was the two of them that made up?” Judi Dench blurted out the words, but regretted them a little after she said them, and her voice became much quieter, “I mean if.”
Her eyes fell on Emma Richard’s face, trying to catch the change in her expression, and she was relieved to see that she wasn’t upset.
“If it’s the two of them that make up, then Keira and I will have nothing to do with him in the future.”
Emma Richard’s heart is like a resistance not to think in this direction, if Judi Dench did not say it, she may still escape.
Judi Dench saw her like this, no matter what she said is true or not, her heart more or less relieved, “I will keep an eye on their movements for you at the company.”
“There’s no rush on that, I’m trying to find this doctor now.” Emma Richard reached out and pointed to the address on her phone and told her her plan.
“Okay, I’ll go with you.” Judi Dench thought it would be safer to go with a partner, and Emma Richard didn’t refuse this time.
The two of them had something to eat and then set out to follow the address.
Judi Dench, on the other hand, was careful to send Kevin Armstrong their movements as they set off, and sent him their location from time to time.
“This is it.”
The two stopped at the entrance of a neighborhood, and Emma Richard matched the name on the neighborhood and the address, with a touch of surprise on her face.
They then found the doctor’s residence.
Emma Richard had changed her clothes just before coming up in order to dispel the doctor’s suspicions, and she kept the hat on her head down so that her face could not be seen at all.
“Is anyone there?” Emma Richard asked Judi Dench to step aside while she knocked on the door.
“Who is it?” But from inside the door sounded a voice they hadn’t expected, followed by the sound of footsteps.
“I’m here to do some research, are your parents home, little one?” Emma Richard sounded very much like a child abductor.
But the child was not afraid and opened the door, “My father has gone to buy groceries, do you want to come in first, sister?”
With the sound of a set of keys, a small head peeked out from the inside of the door.
She was so short that she could just see Emma Richard’s face under the hat.
The little girl’s tender face made Emma Richard think of Keira at first.
“Aren’t you afraid that we are bad people, little one?” Emma Richard took her hat off and squatted down in front of her.
“Daddy has said that uncles who pretend to investigate are bad people, but my sister is not an uncle, so my sister is not a bad person.” The little girl’s clear voice rang out, unusually clear in the hallway, which made Emma Richard freeze for a moment.
“Fortunately, we are not bad people this time, if you encounter such a thing next time, you must not open the door.” Emma Richard opened the door and walked in. Perhaps it was maternal nature that made her unconsciously think of Keira when she saw the little girl who was the same age as Keira .
The little girl nodded as she sat on the sofa.
When Emma Richard had just walked up to her, a nervous voice suddenly sounded at the door.
“Amy, Amy …”
