Chapter 94
Lyra woke up with a severe headache, back pain, and puffy and red eyes. She had a runny nose as she had cried a lot the night before. She felt miserable as she searched for her phone on the bed that had been ringing for a while now.
She didn’t look at who was calling, she only picked the call up and spoke with a very low voice
“Hello”
“Miss Lyra, Good morning” the person at the other end greeted.
“Hm, good morning” she yawned
“This is Doctor Dennis, the DNA results are out. If you would like, you can come to pick it up today”
Lyra jumped off the bed the moment she heard the man say that.
“Okay, thank you so much” she quickly ended the call and wanted to rush to the bathroom.
She realized that she was not in her room but in her children’s room. She smiled when she remembered what happened last night, they had created a space for her to sleep in their bed with them.
She went to her room to have her bath, she noticed Bryan wasn’t there. When she checked the time it was 11 am, She had slept for a long time.
She dressed up after taking a shower and walked downstairs. She met Ryan and the kids with Tia.
“Mommy, how are you feeling now? Aunty Tia said you weren’t fine” Miles asked
Lyra nodded before saying “I’m doing good now, thank you”
“Mommy, are you going out?” Ryan asked with a blushing face. Lyra smiled at this before nodding
“Yes, I’m going out. I’ll be back soon. And do not feel shy to call me mommy, son”
She pecked them all before making her way out but Tia followed behind
“How are you doing today?”
“Better than yesterday,” Lyra said before entering the car
“You should eat first and take some drugs. You should rest”
“I’m fine, Tia. You worry too much” Lyra said as she ignited the car.
“I’ll be back. I need to go somewhere first” with that said, she drove off.
Lyra made her way to the hospital to get the DNA results. She refused to open it as she walked out of the hospital, she received a call from Henri
“Hey”
“How are you?” Henri asked but she didn’t answer his question instead she asked
“Did you get anything?”
“Meet me at Greene Restaurant”
Lyra didn’t waste any time and made her way to the restaurant Henri had told her to meet him.
“What did you find?” She asked immediately as she sat down.
Henri looked at her before saying “You should order something to eat first”
When Lyra saw the looks Henri was giving her, she decided to order something to eat.
As she ate, Henri said “Tia is worried about you. She told me you didn’t eat this morning before leaving the house and you didn’t eat well last night as well. I want you to remember that you have two lovely kids you are taking care of. You can’t afford to breakdown”
His words made her pause, she looked up at him and tears rushed down her cheeks
“I may not understand how you are feeling, Lyra but I know that it hurts to see the people you love hurting”
“Tia called me last night. She was crying bitterly as she explained how sorry she felt for you. She’s praying you don’t break down and I pray so too because somehow you are connected to me. If something happens to you, Tia wouldn’t be the same again. Please be strong for us”
When Henri finished, Lyra cried so much that she felt her throat tighten because she didn’t want to cry out loud.
She nodded before cleaning her eyes
“Thank you” she whispered in a hoarse voice before asking
“What did you find?”
“Bryan has been working with Ella truly” he began as he brought out some documents from his bag and passed it to Lyra.
Lyra dropped her spoon before taking the documents from his hands.
“I think you’ll find all you need to know about him in there”
“Thank you, Henri”
“It’s okay, we are family after all” Lyra nodded as she checked the content of the documents
Her eyes darkened at every page she turned, Bryan was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
After all, she had done for him, he stabbed her right in her heart. She took in deep breaths as she closed her eyes only to open them again, her eyes were cold and ruthless
“He would pay for everything he has done to me and my kids”
Henri nodded, “About the kids….” He didn’t know how he would ask but he wanted to know. He was hoping that Bruce would be the father of the kids
“Negative,” she said only for Henri’s face to fall.
“I’m sorry. I just thought…”
“It’s okay. I understand. I don’t care who the father might be. I’ll take care of my kids on my own. We do not need a father”
She got up and thanked Henri again before making her way out.
Henri called Tia immediately
“Hope you are home? Lyra would need you”
Lyra decided to open the DNA result of Bryan and the kids in her car. She raised the side of her lips when she saw that there was no relationship between the kids and him.
“Basta. rd” she muttered.
She decided to pay Ella one last visit before she made her final decision on what to do with Bryan so she made her way to the station.
When she got there, she was told to go and see the police officer in charge first, she frown at this but went anyway. When the man came to meet with her, he related to Lyra that Ella had committed suicide in the prison last night.
Lyra’s face fell as she couldn’t comprehend what the man in front of her was saying to her
“What?!” She exclaimed in shock.
“She had taken poison and we didn’t realize it on time” the man explained to her. Lyra sat there in a daze even after the man was done speaking
Again Lyra remembered Ella’s words to her the last time she came
“You, Lyra, are my favorite sister. And in the next world, I’ll still choose you as my favorite sister. You should be happy I won’t be at your neck anymore. I’ve left you to have your peace. Well, a little…”
Lyra made her way back to the car in a daze. Ella killed herself or was it, Bryan? She wondered. She shook in anger when she remembered that Bryan had once tried to kill her, did he succeed?
She didn’t recover for a long time as she sat down under a tree and cried. She made her way back home with the documents in her hands. Her eyes were cold and merciless.
‘Bryan, I’ll make sure you rot in jail!’
