Chapter 67.
Lyra and Tia hurriedly set up the table. Tia was just helping out as they were expecting Ryan. They wanted everywhere to look so special and make Ryan feel at home.
“Mom is working so hard,” Miley told miles aa they sat at a corner watching at their Mom and Tia who were extremely busy.
“Yes, it’s because she wants to make today special… Ryan is coming over,. remember?” Myles said which made Miley reply. “Yes he is, I have totally forgotten,” He said and scratched his head which made Myles laugh.
“You are acting like a granny,” Myles teased Miley who frowned her face, getting annoyed.
“No, I’m not some Granny. I only forgot Ryan would be coming over,” Miley replied adamantly.
“It is only grannies that forgetforgets a lot, whatlot what made you forget?” Myles asked Mikey but she didn’t reply, which made him laugh. They saw Bryan already dressed to go out and rushed towards the end of the stairs to wait for him as he climbed down the stairs.
“Good morning Dad,” they chorused happily which made Bryan smile. He bent down to their height and rubbed their hair.
“How was your night my babies?” He asked them.
“It was fine,” Miley replied happily.
“Mine wasn’t, I kept on thinking about Ryan, I hope he would keep to his promise,” Myles said which made Bryan smile.
“Of course he will, your mom just confirmed that he would still be coming over today,” Bryan assured, which made the Twins smile happily.
“Ain’t you joining us?” They asked Bryan and Bryan shook his head.
“I have an important meeting to attend, enjoy yourself. I will join you guys next time,” Bryan said to them with a smile.
“What am I going to get for you guys while coming back?” Bryan asked.
“Ice cream,” the twins chorused at the same time which made Bryan smile.
“Alright!” Bryan said and stood up. He walked over to Lyra and kissed her cheeks before walking out.
“Dad loves mom so much,” Miley whispered to Myles.
“Mom also loves him too, I hardly hear them quarrel unlike Ryan’s parents,” Myles pointed out which upset Miley.
“Don’t talk about other people’s parents like that, if Ryan hears you he would be angry,” Miley said which made Myles keep quiet.
“I’m sorry,” Myles apologized, looking down.
“You should apologize to Ryan when he comes over… I would be leaving now,” Miley said and started walking towards Lyra.
“Mom, I want to get married to someone like dad who would love me very much,” Miley said which shocked Lyra and Tia before they burst into laughter not believing those words came out of Miley’s month.
“You definitely would Miley, I would make sure I guide you properly and also allow you follow your heart,” Lyra promised and kissed Miley’s forehead.
“Thank you Mom,” Miley said happily.
Lyra beckoned Myles who was at a distance looking at them sadly to walk over to her which he reluctantly did.
“Why are you looking so sober?” Lyra asked him.
“I said bad words about Ryan’s parents and I want to apologize,” Myles said.
“What are you talking about?” Lyra asked him and Miley replied immediately.
“He said you and Dad love each other, unlike Ryan’s parents who always quarrel.”
Miley’s reply made Lyra look at Myles. “Who told you that?” Lyra asked him.
“Ryan did and he was looking very sad. He doesn’t like the way his parents have turned out. He told me he was the one that caused everything by telling his dad that his Mom was seeing someone else,” Myles explained which made Lyra weak.
“Everything happening between Ryan’s parents will be over soon, okay, don’t feel so bad. I would also talk to Ryan when he comes over,” Lyra promised.
“But Ryan’s mother is a bad person. She slapped you while we were on the beach because I pushed Ryan down,” Myles asked.
“No, she isn’t… she was just angry. She has apologized too,” Lyra lied which made the twins smile.
“Okay Mom, we love you so much… Don’t leave dad too someday and make us sad as Ryan is,” the twins chorused which made Lyra feel so down. She didn’t know if she should promise them she wouldn’t or tell them they should stop talking about Ryan’s parents.
“It would be alright,” she replied and hugged them.
“Now go put on something special for the occasion we are going to have,” Lyra said and the twins jeered happily.
Tia took the twins to their room and helped them wear nice clothes, as they marched down the stairs, Ryan walked in looking very handsome.
“Hey!” He called out to the twins and they looked at him.
“Ryan,” they yelled and raved towards him.
“Be careful,” Lyra said to them with panic, praying none of them shouldn’t fall down.
“You kept to your promise,” Miley said to Ryan with excitement.
“Yes I did,” Ryan replied and turned.
I didn’t come alone, I came with my dad,” he said which made Lyra pause trying not to believe. She never knew Bruce would agree to come have breakfast with them.
The twins ran to Bruce as he walked in and he smiled. He bent down and rubbed their hair.
“Myles and Miley, how are you?” He asked with a smile.
“We are fine, thank you for bringing Ryan and making him keep to his promise,” Myles said with appreciation.
“We weren’t expecting you to come though but as you are already here, there is enough room for you to stay. Feel very comfortable,” Miley said which made everyone smile.
The twins were really getting matured, everyone thought. Lyra invited them to the dining table and left upstairs to wear something for the occasion. The way Bruce was smartly dressed and looking at a bit of his old self which attracted her continued recapping in her memories, she tried not to think about it but she couldn’t stop it either.
Lyra wore a black fitted down. They were going to throw a mini family house party for the children so she wanted all of them to dress for it. She packed hair and walked down the stairs.
“Wow, mom you look stunning,” Myles gushed as Lyra approached them. This made her cheeks flush pink, she walked towards the twins and sat in between them.
“Thank you honey,” Lyra said and kissed Myles forehead. She asked Ryan to pray and he did before they started eating quietly. While they were eating, Bryan suddenly came back home. He went upstairs to change and came to join them.
“You came back early, did something come up?” Lyra asked Bryan who sat beside Miley.
“No, I just decided to join this house party as the head of this family. I can’t allow another man do so for me,” Bryan said which made Lyra glance at Bruce and then Tia who glanced back at her.
Bruce acted like he didn’t hear anything and continued eating the meal served on his plate.
“You know I love you so much honey, that’s why I’m always trying to make this family work no matter what happens,” Bryan said which made Tia choke on her food. She started coughing and quickly drank some water.
Lyra asked Miley to sit next to Myles and sat beside Bryan.
“What are you doing?” She whispered to him.
“Nothing, I’m only expressing myself,” Bryan replied without care. He grabbed a glass and poured himself some wine.
“Please stop it Bryan, what are you trying to do?” Lyra told him.
“I was only expressing myself Lyra, I wasn’t exaggerating,” Bryan thundered with rage. He got up and walked away with Lyra following him. The twins looked at them with a sad expression.
“Dad and mom aren’t any better as we have always thought,” Miley said out loud which made Bruce glance at her before looking away.
“I’m sorry for these children, continue having your meal… they would settle and join us later,” Tia said, trying to force a smile.
The children couldn’t even eat again and left the dining table.
“Let’s go play,” Ryan announced and the children left with him. Lyra came back to join them and saw the children had left the dining table, she looked around and didn’t find the children around.
“Where are the children?” Lyra asked Tia.
“They left to play,” Tia said.
“I’m sorry for this,” Lyra apologized to Bruce but he only smiled before getting up.
“I have to go now, I will be leaving Ryan behind. Thank you for this great treat,” he said and started leaving.
Tia wanted to apologize to him some more to make sure he isn’t angry but couldn’t bring herself to stop him from leaving. She helplessly watched him leave. Tia grabbed her hands to assure her it was okay which made Lyra nod but couldn’t continue eating any longer.
