” Or can I have your Manager’s number instead, Incase I can’t place a call across to you.. then at least I can get to know if everything is okay through him ” She said hurriedly, covering up for the question she thought might have made Bryan uncomfortable as he hadn’t given a reply for some minutes.
” Alright, I will do that ” Bryan finally replied.
” Babe.. why can’t I get your address? ” Lyra asked silently and incoherently.
” Are you busy now? ” Lyra asked and it took a while before Bryan replied.
” Um.. not really ” He replied but Lyra knew he didn’t want to make her feel bad.
” It’s fine. I know you’re busy, I’m also busy too ” She lied.
” You’re busy too? Is he making you do some hard labour? ” Bryan asked, hoping it’s not what he’s thinking.
” Come on.. I’m just busy getting myself ready for an outing tomorrow ” She said.
” Ok then.. I will call you later by 5 once I’m done ” Bryan replied, tho he’s aware she only said that so he wouldn’t feel bad he’s leaving her alone in her loneliness.
The have grown too familiar with each other that they know when something’s not right or when each one of them is lying.
” Bye ” Lyra said and hanged up.
She let out a sigh as she dropped her phone on the bed. She made her way out of the room and heading downstairs.
Bruce’s friend was the first person her gaze met with. He was sitted on a seat in the dinning room, but his face could be seen while she could only see Bruce’s backside.
They seemed to be engrossed in a serious discussion.
” What am I to do here anyways? ” She thought as she bit her lips. Her days were always like this, boring.
She had no friends or job or kids that could keep her busy all day, nothing at all. It’s always her and herself except from Tia who do keep her company whenever Bruce wasn’t around, except that.. she’s a very lonely lady.
She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t Bruce’s friend who was now in front of her as he flashed her a wide smile.
” Hey! ” He snapped his fingers at her face, making her jerk out of unconsciousness.
She was almost taken aback to see him before her as she flinched a little.
” Hey.. ” She trailed off.
” Alex.. ” He completed for her and she smiled unconsciously.
” Alex? ” She asked and he nodded.
” Your name is pretty.. I guess ” She said without knowing and he chuckled at how cute she looked saying that.
” Thanks Lyra ” He replied.
She suddenly jerked out of her trance and bit her lips slowly.
” Sorry for saying that ” She replied embarrassedly but Alex only smiled.
” So.. ”
” Um? ” Lyra asked without thinking, she was getting affected by his sweet and attractive aura.
” I just saw you standing over here and staring at us over there so I was thinking you would like to join us over there? ” He said, more like a question.
” Um.. not really ” She found herself saying in her head but she snapped out of it.
” Um yeah.. but I don’t think he would like that ” She whispered and gesturing at Bruce.
She thought it would be a good idea if she was part of whatever it is they were doing. At least it will keep her lonely self busy.
Alex let out a shrug. ” That’s not a problem.. come on ” He replied and before she could say a word, he dragged her along with him.
And before she could process what he was about to do, he had already dragged her to his seat.
He made her sit on his initial seat while he sat down on another seat beside him.
Lyra raised her head slowly to Bruce who seemed not to care about what was going on in his surrounding or he was just too engrossed in what he was doing.
” So.. I heard you once had a company you owned before you got married.. and that means, you know just what we know about business right? ” Alex asked and she nodded.
” Um yeah ” She replied and he pushed some files to her front.
” What do you think about that? ” He asked.
” This are the revenue generated by your company in the last two years? ” She asked, looking intently at the files like a professional she is.
Her company is one of the biggest in the country, so she is a professional.
And she was a billionaire before she had to get married to this wretched man.
” Um yeah ” Alex replied, glancing at the files and then at her.
Lyra nodded her head. ” It seems okay for a new business ” She replied, taking her eyes away from the file and then to him.
He nodded with a smile. ” Yeah, I thought so too. So, do you think we could do better than this by joining hands with bigger companies or it would be okay if we kept pushing? ” He asked.
Lyra leaned back against the chair, she was unaware Bruce’s gaze was now on her as he watched, waiting for what her response would be.
” I think your business is doing well for a business that’s just 2years old. It’s really okay and I think it would do more better if you kept pushing..
” You know.. joining hands with other big companies could lower your revenues than you reaching that standard yourself.. so I would advise you keep pushing and it’s advisable since you also have one big company they work together. It will help greatly ” She advised from experience and turned to Alex to see his expression.
Alex lips twitched to a smile and his whole face became bright. He patted her hair slowly.
” You’re really a CEO of a big company.. can you believe my dad gave me the same advise ” Alex said, smiling brightly.
Alex’s dad also own one of the biggest enterprise in Australia.
Alex also own a big company in Paris, and then a new developing company here in Australia, which is definitely what he’s here to supervise.
” Your wife really got a big brain ” Alex complimented as he turned to Bruce who also was suprised at Lyra’s intelligent idea.
It was then Lyra notice Bruce had been listening to their conversation.
” Yeah ” He replied, looking away and that shocked the hell outta of her.
Did he just compliment her indirectly?
” Um.. thanks ” She muttered.
” You should also help with this ” Alex pushed some other files to her front which she accepted with a smile.
” What do you think about them?” Alex asked, looking at her intently.
” Um.. ” Lyra started and like that Alex listened intently while Bruce stole glances from her at several intervals.

” Wow! You’re really a professional at this ” Alex complimented and she smiled. ” Thanks ” She muttered.
She stole a glance at her phone, it was 5:30pm and Bryan still hadn’t called.
” Is he busy? ” She thought.
” Um.. I will be back ” She said to Alex and he nodded. Lyra dialed Bryan’s number immediately as she stood up and begin to walk away and at the same time Alex’s phone rang, making her stop by the rails she was.
She turned her head to Alex who only looked at his phone’s screen to see whom it was and then he looked up at her and their gaze met.
He passed her a smile which she returned weirdly. By now, Bryan’s number had stopped dialing and Alex’s phone had stopped ringing and that got her confused the more.
She walked away, up the stairs and when she was finally on the other floor, but up where she still could see the duo downstairs.
She dialed Bryan’s number and he picked up immediately. ” Hey babe ” He answered immediately.
” Oh ” She muttered. ” What was I thinking? ” She thought as she stared at Alex who was concentrated on working on his laptop while Bryan kept talking through the phone but she wasn’t listening.
” Lyra? ” Bryan called and she snapped out of her thoughts.
” Hey.. hi ” She said immediately as she made her way to her room.
The call ended between her and Bryan and she dropped her phone.
Her mind flashed back to the incident earlier. ” What a coincidence! ” She muttered.
** Next Day **
” Morning miss ” She heard Tia’s tiny voice from the door. ” Come in.. the door’s not locked ” Lyra who was seated on the bed with her phone in her hands replied.
Tia walked in immediately. ” Do you need my help with anything? Sire is out! ” Tia asked informally as she landed on the bed like a baby.
Yeah, that’s how close they are. Lyra only shook her head with a smile on her lips which definitely wasn’t meant for Tia but for someone else as she seemed busy on her phone.
Tia raised her brows suspiciously. ” Is it him? ” She asked but Lyra only ignored her as she kept on chatting with Bryan.
” You must really love him so much ” Tia muttered.
