After listening to Tessa’s words, Sookie’s mood became very complicated. She wanted to know Mia’s story, but she didn’t want to rub salt in Tessa’s wounds.
However, within the group Tessa brought, she heard a lot about the legends of Mia. Because she had saved Enzo, everyone believed that she could be brought back because she was so much like Mia.
Both Mia and Tessa grew up in England. Only Mia was gifted, graduated early, and was called back to work for the organization by her father as soon as she graduated, naturally assisting the strongest member of the organization, Enzo.
When Mia first joined the Shadowy Saints, she had just turned twenty, full of youth and vitality, always appearing cheerful and sunny to everyone she met. At that time, Shadowy Saints were busy fighting the Polish, both sides vying for territory and business, a period that was full of gunfire and battles. Mia followed Enzo everywhere, and several of the organization’s strong subordinates owed their lives to Mia’s medical skills. Although her family was part of the Mafia, her mentor was the famous American medical professor, Leo.
Once, when Enzo’s arm was injured and his nerves were affected, Professor Leo performed a day and night surgery to save him. But the condition was that Mia could no longer acknowledge him as her mentor.
After Enzo realized Mia’s gratitude towards him, he felt extremely guilty and took special care of her. Mia sacrificed her academic reputation to save his life, and in his heart, Mia had become like family.
In the years that followed, the two of them charged into battle together and developed a different kind of affection. On the anniversary of their relationship, the “Eagle” gang from Mexico, the fourth force at the time, set fire to the Shadowy Saints’ warehouse and took a batch of goods. The two sides fought fiercely. The “Eagle” gang aimed to assassinate Enzo, and at that time, only a group of medical and logistical personnel were at their base.
They were kidnapped by the “Eagle” gang. When Enzo and his men returned, the base had already been burned down. He led his men to rescue the people, and in the end, everyone was saved, except for Mia.
Carl Jones was very angry afterwards, feeling that Enzo had not protected Mia well. Enzo was punished and stationed in a remote town for a year. Throughout that year, Enzo became known in the southern city for his cruel and brutal actions, and his astute business acumen made his team the economic pillar of the Shadowy Saints.
However, he never had a formal girlfriend again. Usually, he would spend pleasant two hours with these women in hotels, bars, and cars, but he never took them home or spent the night with them.
Sookie admitted that it was a story of a regrettable fairy-tale couple. But she was different from Mia; she was not a doctor, nor did she have a spirit of saving people. She had been kidnapped and did not want to get involved with these gang leaders.
She just wanted to graduate and live a peaceful life.
After staying in the villa for ten days, she finally couldn’t bear it.
“Tessa, has the alarm been lifted?”
“Ah… the alarm?” Tessa was in the middle of a video conference on her computer and was caught off guard by Sookie’s sudden question.
“I mean, can we go out now?” Sookie added.
“Enzo and the others are going to meet the Poles tomorrow. If we go out now, we’ll just get captured and become hostages. I can handle your school vacation, but you’ll have to stay here for a while.”
Tessa knew that Sookie’s only concern was her studies, but she really couldn’t let her go out now.
Sookie bit her lip, lowered her head, and pondered for a few seconds. She walked out in silence.
The three people on the screen also heard their conversation.
“Enzo, your little maid seems eager to leave,” Tery teased.
“She can leave when we get back,” Enzo said calmly while exhaling smoke.
“Tomorrow, when we meet Barton, if things go smoothly, it’ll be resolved the same day. If not, you may have to come and join us. They’ve sent a lot of people in your direction, and a carpet search will eventually find the villa.”
“Should we… escape?” Tessa furrowed her brow. If that were the case, they were already surrounded.
“There’s a river behind the mountain that leads to the sea. You can take a boat to the pier six kilometers away, and we’ll send someone to meet you there,” Landon made the arrangements and sent the route to Tessa.
“Ok, then we’ll prepare to leave tonight.”
At 23:00 that night,
“Where are we going?” Sookie asked, holding her backpack and looking at thecalm water around her, feeling a vague sense of insecurity within.
“We are going to find Enzo and the others.”
