The Curse!

Book:Werewolf King, Please Don't Marry Me! Published:2024-6-5

Third Person’s POV;
“But Alpha I heard that two of the hunters you attacked have passed away” Matt said and Elijah’s face turned white.
“What are you trying to convey?” Liam asked in confusion.
“I am just saying that it might happen that you just unleashed the curse upon you” Matt said looking worriedly at Elijah who cooled down his features making his face expressionless.
“Curse? Bullshit! Those were supernatural hunters! Not some teenagers who went fishing and big bad wolf ate them! They were not innocent Matt!” Layla said angrily banging her hand on the table.
“Yeah, but what if one of them had never killed someone before? I am just saying that there is a possibility that our Alpha might be cursed. We shouldn’t take it so easily” Matt said still looking with a solemn look at Elijah like he is doomed.
“You are being a party pooper, Matt!” Layla said annoyed by his stupid theory.
“I am just saying, Layla! Why are you getting angry at me?” Matt said now looking annoyedly at Layla for her outburst.
“Matt is right. I was thinking about the same when I was on my way here. I might be cursed. I am not sure for now” Elijah said plainly.
“I don’t think so. Don’t let this curse thing get to your head” Layla said strongly.
“Layla is right. You should enjoy your life. You are only twenty-five and not to forget you just found your mate!” Liam said enthusiastically but that didn’t lift up Elijah’s mood at all who was staring in the abyss.
……….
Next day,
Mark, Rose, and Oliver were standing at the gate greeting the guests along with their parents.
Laina, Theodore, and Aunt Melissa were standing next to the coffin of Uncle Pete. Eva and Nova were supporting Laina while Uncle William was holding Theodore’s shoulders.
Rose was meeting and greeting the guests she barely knew. Oliver really did help her with the introduction.
As she thought, things couldn’t get more awkward, one of the women stood in front of her with hearts in her eyes.
“Mike, is this your lovely daughter Rose?” She asked excitedly.
“Yeah, she is” Mike replied in a low voice, the man just lost his brother.
“She is so beautiful just like her mother” The woman said smiling at her.
Rose smiled back at her awkwardly.
Mark and Oliver exchanged looks with weird expressions.
The woman suddenly grabbed the hand of the young guy standing at her side, which Rose understood could be her son as she couldn’t deny the similarities in the features.
“This is my son, Ed. You both should get to know each other” the woman said gleefully making the match-making obvious as day.
“Sure, someday” Rose was more than awkward now.
The guy gave her a shy smile and she couldn’t help but think how Elijah would cut the chubby guy in half once he knew of this incident. A small smile curved on her lips just at the thought of him.
She can’t deny that she was missing him more than she thought she would. She was dying to see him again.
‘I think I am crazy. I thought it was just a crush or infatuation with a handsome guy that would disappear once he was gone but now, I am dying to meet him. Even one glance of him would do, meeting him feels like a dream now!’ Rose closed her eyes in frustration and took a deep sigh.
Mark thought that his sister was frustrated by the woman bugging her, hence, he came forward and glared at the chubby guy.
“Stay away from my sister or else, you won’t be able to handle the consequences” Mark whispered in his ears in a deadly serious tone.
He parted from him with a fake smile and patted his chest,
“Let’s meet up someday” Mark said with a fake smile.
The guy smiled back like a chicken and replied,
“Sure” he took his mother’s hand and ran away from the scene making Rose sigh in relief.
From the crowd, Rose’s eyes fell on a familiar face and she nudged Mark and Oliver’s elbow.
“Isn’t that Laina’s farmer boy?” Rose whispered curiously.
“Looks like him a bit” Mark said, he was a bit confused as he hadn’t seen him in years.
“Yup, it is him” Oliver confirmed.
The guy suddenly turned towards Rose and nearly ran towards her.
‘Not another one!’ Rose screamed in her head.
“Hello, if I am not wrong, you must be Rose” the guy said smiling shyly, flashing his cute dimples.
“Yes, and you must be Reuben” Rose replied with a small smile.
“Wow, you have grown up into a very beautiful woman” he complimented.
“Thank you” Rose
“Nice to meet you again” He extended his hand for a handshake and Rose took it gently otherwise it would have been awkward for the guy.
“Same here” She said politely.
“If you are free. We can meet sometime for a coffee” the guy said hopefully.
“Sure we can discuss that next time but Reuben, I think Laina needs you today. You are one of her close friends” Rose said with empathy.
“Hmm. You are right. I will see you around, beauty” Reuben flashed his dimple smile again and left to meet Liana.
“Can’t believe you are flirting during your uncle’s funeral” Oliver replied while gritting his teeth.
“Firstly, I am not flirting and second, Uncle Pete never liked me. He never called me anything other than b*tch behind my back. So, don’t try to teach me” Rose whispered back angrily and left his side.
After a while, they left for the cemetery to bury his dead body.
They did all the rituals and buried Uncle Pete’s coffin.
It took a while for them to calm Aunt Melissa and Liana who kept on crying hysterically. Theodore was hiding his pain in silence.
One by one all the guests left, leaving only family members at the cemetery.
Once, Aunt Melissa and Laina composed themselves a little they left for home as well.
As they reached their home, they were shocked to see the front gate of their compound wall as well as the main gate of their house were missing.
“What the hell happened here?” Levi asked in frustration.
“Who in the hell did that?” Mike groaned in anger.
They searched the surroundings to find the two doors lying on the ground in pieces.
Mary became a little uneasy and Oliver’s facial muscles hardened.
“What is happening here?” Rose asked Olivia who was equally confused.
“I don’t know” Olivia replied looking flabbergasted.
“Something like this never happened before” Eva added from behind.
“Stay behind me” Oliver said while looking at the girls and everyone nodded.
All of them moved inside only to notice the bunch of tall figures sitting comfortably on the sofa set.
“Surprise, surprise, guess who has come to honor your brother’s funeral, Levi?” said a very dark and intimidating voice.
Followed by the voice was another one which was even darker and chilling than the previous one which dominated each and every person in the entire room.
“Accept our condolences” Said the voice making people feel a chilling cold passing through their body.
“ELIJAH!”
