Third Person’s POV;
“Shit! I guess someone is coming! I have to leave. Make sure you keep your eyes and ears open!” The woman added urgently.
“Rest assured, take care….” said the man but the woman already hung up the phone.
……..
After the meeting was over Elijah instructed Matt to escort Alpha Luke and Princess Luna Crystal home.
Meanwhile, Liam and Elijah went to his room to discuss certain topics as Liam was not present in the meeting.
“So, anything happened while I was in the meeting?” Elijah asked Liam.
“Nope, Matt and I were roaming the entire mansion one by one to see if something was wrong. Stefan never left his position and Ruby, also, was keeping an eye on other Betas as well” Liam updated him of the situation.
“Strange. Something should have happened” Elijah said squinting his eyes in focus.
“You have doubt on anyone?” Liam asked in worry. He didn’t want any of his closed ones to turn up as traitors.
“Not really” Elijah replied casually.
“Liam, I am sorry for the trouble my parents caused earlier. That must have embarrassed you in front of your mate” Elijah was referring to the fight they had in front of Liam and Layla in the great hall and it didn’t take Liam a moment to understand it.
“No worries, bro. There was nothing embarrassing at all. Your parents are my parents. They brought me up as their own kid when my parents died in that attack by foxes. You are more than a brother to me! I owe you all my life” Liam said while keeping his hand on Elijah’s shoulder.
Elijah was comforted by his words.
“You have done more than enough for me. Keep your life to yourself or better, give it to Layla” Elijah added with a chuckle.
Right at this moment, the door of Elijah’s room opened with a thud and Layla walked in with Cora.
“Someone was talking about me?” Layla asked with Cheshire cat smile.
“Hey, do you know nothing about knocking?” Liam asked in frustration.
“Never heard of it” Layla shrugged her shoulder and Cora chuckled.
“You have to understand, we could be talking about something confidential” Liam insisted but Layla shrugged him off like an unwanted fly.
“So? Nothing is confidential for me!” Layla added confidently.
“We can doubt you as a ‘traitor'” Liam added playfully.
“Cry me a river. I am the youngest and only daughter of Alpha Robin of the Silver Moon pack, the biggest pack in Canada, and Elijah’s distant cousin from his maternal side. I don’t know about you but my cousin will never doubt me” Layla said with a tight smile.
Elijah couldn’t help but nod his head in agreement.
“She is right. I can’t doubt her. She is in more safer zone than you” Elijah replied playfully while wrapping one hand around Layla and another on Cora’s shoulder.
“Ouch! That was hurtful” Liam acted like he was hurt.
“Anyways, from cousin I remember, I wonder who said about my mate to Nicholas, he has been texting me continuously for three hours now” Elijah narrowed his eyes at Cora without even them uttering the answer.
“I had to! He is not only my cousin but also my best friend. He was worried about you so I had to inform him that you are okay and your lovely mate saved you, Bro, he is literally on cloud nine. I am pretty sure he squealed too!” Cora added in happiness.
“Like he needed to know. Thank God he had a test tomorrow” Elijah added in annoyance.
“Yeah, otherwise it would have been difficult dealing with so many childish people at the same time” Liam said directly looking at Layla to tease her.
“Do you have a death wish?” Layla narrowed her eyes at him.
“Tell us more about your mate” Cora shifted the topic on the culprit who was holding back on information from them.
“It’s past your bed time, Cora, and You also have a test tomorrow” Elijah added annoying her more. She is dying to know and he was delaying it on purpose.
“I will top anyways. Besides, I want to know more about your mate, that is more important” Cora added with giving him her best puppy eyes.
“You will meet her soon, princess” Elijah said gently.
“Oh yes, you are taking her to the ball!” Cora clapped her hand happily while jumping.
“Go back to your room now” Elijah dragged Cora out of the room he wanted to discuss something extremely important with the rest.
“Goodbye folks” She screamed from outside.
“Good night!” they screamed in unison.
Once the coast was clear Elijahs expression turned serious.
“By the way, there is a little problem with my mate” Elijah looked at Liam and Layla worriedly.
“What is it?” Liam asked in worry.
“Don’t tell me you lied about her being a werewolf!” Layla asked in accusation.
“Nope, she is a werewolf but she hasn’t changed yet!” Elijah added making Layla gasp in surprise.
“WHAT! If I am not wrong you said she was 23, right? Did you lie about her age” Liam asked in confusion.
“Nope. I didn’t lie about her age, She is 23” Elijah added.
“Then why hasn’t she change yet?” Liam asked in worry.
“She has been receiving wolfsbane all these years to keep her wolf hidden” Elijah relied solemnly.
“Was she kidnapped or tortured by some of her pack’s enemies?” Layla asked in horror.
“Nope” Elijah shook his head.
“Then who gave her wolfsbane?” Liam asked him in confusion.
“She said her mother gave it to her in the name of a herbal tea” Elijah added not being able to believe in the situation himself.
“Why would someone do that to her own daughter? Is her parent’s humans?” Layla asked in utter disbelief.
This time, Elijah didn’t reply. He just looked at them with a serious look and said,
“Guys, there is something about my mate you are yet to know” Elijah added and Layla rolled her eyes at them.
“There are a lot of things we are yet to know, Alpha! Why am I smelling trouble?” Layla asked in annoyance.
“What is it Bro” Liam asked gently.
“My mate belongs to Blue family! She is the daughter of a hunter!”
