I am not leaving you

“How can you wake up after being shot?” I asked, I was beyond shocked.
“Water… water…” he whispered in a painful voice.
I decided to hold my investigation for now, looking at his pitiful state.
“Oh water?” I remembered I always have a small water bottle in my purse.
I removed the bottle and help him drink it.
“Where are we?” he asked weakly.
“Still in the forest. Just a few steps towards the right. I am sorry I couldn’t carry you” I replied defeatedly.
“That’s okay. Thank you for trying. Leave now. You must be late” he said which shocked me.
“Leave? How can I leave you here? Do you think I am that heartless?” I asked narrowing my eyes at him.
“You can’t carry me. The forest is dangerous. They can come back and hurt you too. Just leave before it’s too late” he said like it’s the most logical thing in the world.
He still cared for me more when he is the one in dying state. How can I leave such a person behind?
“I am not leaving you and don’t try to argue with me!” I raised my hand when he tried to refuse.
“Can you tell me the way towards the main road? My house is really close to it” I said without giving him any more room for argument.
Even if I asked him about the main road, I wasn’t really planning to reach it. I was going to reach the back door through forest.
“Straight” He managed to speak weakly, like every word was draining his energy.
“Okay” I replied nodding.
He tried to get up on his own but failed.
“What the hell are you trying to do?” I asked with a sigh. This guy just doesn’t know when to give up.
“Walk” He replied again in one word.
“You can’t” I replied nonchalantly.
“You are unable to carry me” he argued.
“But I can help you walk. Lean on me” I said as I took his arm and wrapped it around my shoulder. My other arm wrapped around his waist to support his body.
“You are putting too much strain on yourself. This way your body will be a lot weaker than before and you will drain out the rest of the strength you have left” I explained but he didn’t reply.
I could only hear him muffing his painful screams to keep it to himself but he didn’t know I was blessed with a good hearing ability.
In a short while, we were near the back door of the house.
“Stay here. I will be back soon” I said while helping him to sit next to a nearby tree.
I sneaked through the front window. I saw no one was around. Thankfully the window was open and big enough for me to enter through it.
‘They should really increase the security anyone can enter through this. What if someone break in and steal all of that silver-coated chain’ I thought rolling my eyes before moving towards the basement.
As soon as I entered, I locked the door of my room and ran towards the other door. I opened the back door and I saw him sitting right where I left him.
‘Now, that’s like a good boy’
I helped him up and somehow managed to take him inside the room. I lied him on my bed and locked the back door as well.
As soon as his back touched the mattress, he fell unconscious again.
‘He only strained himself to help me’ I felt the warmth in my heart.
If something happens to him, I will regret it my whole life. I decided to operate him as soon as possible.
I knew I won’t be getting the best operating room and utensils to operate him but I needed a few things to actually operate him.
“A scalpel or knife, alcohol disinfectant, tongs, anesthesia. Clean towels. I can get the rest but what about disinfectant and anesthesia?”
I didn’t waste a precious moment of my life and went out of the room towards the kitchen.
I grabbed a packaged water bottle and went towards the corner where my Aunt Stella kept her expensive stuff. I heard her showing off her new knife set from Italy to Mom. She said it was a brand of a well-known chef.
I opened the drawer and removed the expensive-looking box with the new set of knives. It had four different sets of knives, a sharp-looking scissor, and a tong.
“Yes! That will do. I just need to disinfect it”
I won’t be able to get the anesthesia from any medical store here but I think Uncle Pete has a habit of drugs. I heard my dad asking if he is still a morphine addict and he embarrassingly declined but looking at his guilty ugly face I am pretty sure he still takes.
If I take a few shots with good intentions, it won’t be considered a crime, right?
Thinking that, I moved towards Uncle Pete’s room which was thankfully on the same floor. I knew the consequences of getting caught but I still entered the room without hesitation. I was ready to fool Aunt Melissa but surprisingly, she was nowhere to be found.
Wohoooo, the universe is on my side today, somewhat.
‘Really? I got hit by a giant tree, was nearly eaten by a giant werewolf, I am alive only because the wolf was kind enough and I also witnessed my uncle’s deadly side, and am getting all giddy over this? I really have low expectations from life’ I pushed the thought aside and moved inside the room.
Uncle Pete was so shameless that he kept morphine right under his pillow like it was a broken tooth for the tooth fairy.
He had some small bottles like morphine shots. I wasn’t really the best person to check the quality but it should work just fine. I grabbed the sealed unopened bottle and moved away thinking how am I going to inject it without an injection.
As soon as the thought crossed my brain, the drawer next to Uncle Pete’s bed opened revealing a few sets of injections.
I am truly blessed today…. Not really!
I grabbed a few injections. I wasn’t being greedy. I had to take a few to inject some antibiotics too.
As I was standing there happily, I felt an arm on my shoulder.
My eyes widened. I started sweating throughout my body. I swallowed hard before turning back.
I was shocked to see who was standing right in front of me. It was Theodore, uncle Pete’s son.
“What are you doing here, Rose?”
