Elijah’s POV:
I took a deep sigh before I knocked on the door of my parent’s room.
“Come in, Son” I heard my father’s, the current Werewolf King Alpha Cole Smith’s, stern voice.
I entered the room and saw my father looking outside the window, his back facing towards me.
“You called for me, Dad?” I asked in a casual tone, pretending like I didn’t know that he called me here to argue on the same topic all over again.
“I heard that you rejected all of them” He replied, his voice colder than before.
“Yeah. Where is mom?” I tried to change the topic unsuccessfully.
“She went outside for some fresh air. Now tell me, why did you not choose anyone? They were Alpha’s daughters of each and every reputed pack around the globe!” His voice was still cold, his expressions were serious.
“Dad, I think we already had this discussion multiple times. I don’t want to go through this argument again, but I’ll still tell you one last time. I do not wish to be with a girl who is not my mate! I am waiting for my mate!” I replied in a firm tone.
“Until when are you planning to wait for that unknown female who is not ready to show up?” He asked in a frustrated tone.
“Until she finally decides to show up” I replied sarcastically.
“You are going to be 25 in two weeks! A right and respectable lady must accompany you on your coronation day! You are the future Werewolf King! Don’t you remember that?” He growled agitatedly. I sighed and replied calmly.
“Yeah, I know. I will take Cora to the ball” I replied waving my hand which only seemed to anger him more.
“You can’t take your sister to the ball all the time!” The reply was even more thunderous but I wasn’t going to back down.
“I am done with this conversation, Dad. I do not wish to take any random woman to the ball. It is supposed to be my birthday party” I replied calmly still wanting to keep the atmosphere peaceful.
“I don’t want to hear any of this nonsense. Be a man and choose a woman for yourself! Do you even know what people are saying behind your back? You are not some weak Alpha from a petty pack! You are the f*cking Crown Prince of this entire werewolf community! I am not letting you ruin my family’s name for a random girl who hasn’t shown up yet! And we don’t even know if she ever will!” He shouted in anger.
I was about to give him some peace of mind for insulting my mate when I heard a familiar voice from behind me,
“His mate is not some random girl, Cole. She is going to be the future Queen of the werewolf community”
Thank God, mom is here.
“But Phebe, he can’t come alone at the ball, you know that well. He has to pick a woman to accompany him! This is how we perform the ritual. On his coronation day, his woman should be with him” He composed himself and replied to my mother in a much softer tone and added,
“People in our kingdom are not satisfied with the idea of the Coronation of a single King! A Luna is a must in any pack, that’s how life balances itself. Luna provides peace, tranquility, and care to the pack. She is the backbone that keeps the pack running. People are expecting a right full Luna by his side. A rightful couple to take the reign of the throne! He must announce his wedding on his birthday ball!” he demanded like he didn’t just drop a bomb on me.
“Wait, what? Announce my wedding? With whom? One of these stranger females who is not even my mate?” I asked in confusion and anger.
My brain stopped working because of his absurd demand.
“What the hell are you talking about? Stop playing with my son’s life! If he doesn’t want to marry now and wait for his mate, let him do that. It’s his personal life” Mom demanded and she practically stole the words from my mouth.
“Nothing in Royal’s life is personal. The Werewolf King must be perfect from any flaws. We shouldn’t give them any reason to point their fingers at us” He replied like a madman.
“That’s absurd” Mom replied, shaking her head in complete denial.
“He has to choose in the next two weeks or I will choose a girl for him” He replied in a chilling cold tone as he took his decision.
“And then what? Once that girl finds her destined mate, she won’t waste a millisecond of her life to run away with him! Do you want my son to have such a life?” Mom literally scratched on my father’s deepest wound. But she didn’t stop there, she wasn’t planning to, she had to mention ‘him’ in that statement as well.
She moved past me standing right in front of him.
“Do you want him to end up like you..!” Mom said coldly while looking directly in his eyes.
Burning with rage, my father shouted,
“HOW DARE YOU!”
“I can dare a lot of things. TRY ME!” Mom shouted back angrily while standing right in front of him, looking straight into his eyes.
“Phebe! You are crossing the line” Dad said, his voice was freezing cold, giving signs that he indeed is King of Werewolves.
“No, I am not! I should have said it before. Only mates stay and rest all leave! You better remember that!” She made herself clear before turning towards me ignoring my father like a stone wall behind her,
She came closer, her composure completely changing while she kept her hand gently on my shoulder.
“Nobody will force you to do anything! Your mother is still alive! I am still the Werewolf Queen and until you find your mate, I am here to protect you” She said with a motherly smile.
I smiled at her gratefully.
“You are turning my kid against me!” Dad accused her.
“You never did anything to keep him on your side” My mother rolled her eyes and replied, without even turning towards him.
“Mom, Dad, stop. Please!” I sighed.
“Two weeks” My father gritted his teeth while speaking.
“Huh?” My mom looked at him confusedly but my father’s eyes were glued to me.
“You have two weeks until you find that dreamy mate of yours or you will be marrying the woman who is beneficial for our status! And that’s an order!” Dad ordered.
Being an obedient son isn’t really the best thing in the world. Sometimes you must speak up for yourself.
“You can’t tell my son..” Mom started speaking angrily while pointing an accusing finger at my father.
“Don’t try to teach m…” An accusing finger was pointed at my mother too.
“ENOUGH!” I growled using my Alpha influence to shut them off.
I hate to use it on my parents but I can’t help it. They never listen. Even though I am not the werewolf King yet and I am yet to be announced as Alpha too, I am a born Alpha. Stronger than previous Alphas, even stronger than my own father. My trainers in my early training sessions proudly announced that my presence and aura represent ancient Lycan Kings.
“I am done with you both. In front of the whole world, we are the perfect family. THE PERFECT ROYALS! But can’t we have a normal conversation indoors, even once? damn it!” I roared as my eyes went from my mother to my father. The room was now engulfed in a pin-drop silence.
Being the extraordinarily powerful future Werewolf king does come with its own set of advantages. I didn’t have to speak. Only the chilling aura around me was enough to dominate them.
They both looked down unable to resist my dominance. Father tried to fight it but he couldn’t. He still can’t accept that his son is more powerful than the current Werewolf King.
Because of having extraordinary powers, I was announced as Crown Prince when I was little. I had to practice separately because of my excessive strength. My parents were scared that I could hurt someone severely during training sessions which could be detrimental to my future.
“I am leaving” saying that I turned around and stormed out of the room.
I seriously need some fresh air or I will definitely lose it this time.
There hasn’t been a single day in my life when I have seen my parents behaving like a normal happy married couple! This is all because of that bloody Dawson family!
I moved towards the gate. Each and every person bowed down as I was passing them. Some were even in slight fear as my dominating aura was suppressing them naturally.
“Woah woah woah, dude! You look angry” I heard my best friend, Liam Brown.
“What do you want?” I asked, fuming with anger.
“You are moving like a giant monster ready to tear someone apart. What happened? Did they… again?” He asked but stopped between his statements as there were people around us.
Thank God, the rooms of the entire castle were soundproof.
“Give me details about that Dawson family!” I asked in my stern Alpha tone. His casual attitude left completely as he stood straight like a soldier.
“As you instructed, Alpha, I threw them out of the pack. I made sure they don’t linger around the Blood Diamond pack house anymore” He replied obediently.
“Good! Make sure other packs don’t dare to take them in or I will do the same with them as well” I replied, trying to subside the erupting volcano inside me.
“Okay, but Alpha, are we not being too harsh on them? What happened years ago was not only their fault!” He replied in a low voice, showing a hint of pity in his eyes.
“Are you done?” I asked in an ice-cold tone.
I was about to give him a lecture when I heard a familiar voice speaking on my behalf,
“Liam, are you really feeling pity for the family because of whom our Alpha lost his brother?”
