Hours had passed since he left her alone, and yet Miranda couldn’t help but feel nothing but worry, she doesn’t know where to find him, but that’s not going to stop her any longer, as she doesn’t feel comfortable waiting for him here.
Where could he have gone? And why did he take her words so seriously to heart?
Oh, this was all just…so frustrating. If only she’d kept her mouth shut!
This packhouse was so big, there’s about a thousand possible places he could be in right now, she doesn’t even know where to start looking, but that’s not going to stop her, she’s going to go out to look for him no matter what. Finally getting up from the bed, she put on her clothes and then her night slippers before going out to search for him. Ever since the last time she got lost here trying to find her things, she hasn’t gone wandering around these grounds without someone to guide her, but now that there’s no such available person, and she needs to find him now, she has no other choice. Waiting back in the room for him is no longer an option she wants to settle for.
The search began, and she spent the next hour asking, looking checking every possible place she could think of, but still, no one has seen the alpha around anywhere. She’d almost given up hope before she remembered something; something vital that he’d discussed with her before their fight, and come to think of it, that’s the only place she hadn’t searched for him yet. Of course, the empty court, she recalled how Damian told her his preference for solitude most of the time, and one of the favorite spots for him was the empty court, when it was weekend and there were no mandated activities being carried out there by any of the leaders.
She recalled their conversation then, and just like the many things he’d confided in her about, this was one of them. According to his words, the court was the only place that reminded him so well of his father, as the time he was a little boy, he’d been obligated most times to attend court as a young prince to learn the ways of leadership, that was the place he got to see his father the most as alpha Cillian had a lot of demanding tasks required of him as the silver leader, thus he rarely spent time with his family.
It was weekend, and the court would be empty by now, of course there’s a fat chance he’s there in solitude just like he’d told her, she’d remembered every single detail about himself that he confided in her about, and she didn’t dare to forget any such vital piece of information she would need later, because she cares about him, she herself can’t believe it, but that’s how much he means to her. She might have once been frightened of him, but she’d never think of him as anything close to heartless or even a monster. Never!
As her mind travelled, she’d been approaching the court halls and she’d reached there now, her fingers were crossed as she slowly opened the doors, very much hoping, because she’d be very upset if all her efforts towards finding him brought her to nothing.
But thankfully it didn’t. He was seated there on the alpha’s seat, his head bent, just like she’d pictured. He was drowned in his thoughts, dark thoughts, and it was all because of her, because of how much she’d hurt him.
The sound of the door opening and closing didn’t seem to grab Damian’s attention, he’d heard it but didn’t budge from the position he was. His mind is too occupied to think of anything else. It was not until he felt her touch, those soft hands that his mind slowly returned to his surroundings, he rose his head and opened his eyes, and there she was, standing right in front of him.
He scowled, “go away Miranda, please. I want to be alone.”
“No, I’m not going away from you. I’m not leaving you alone. I’ve spent so much time searching for you, and I’m not going to leave you until we settle our differences.”
“There’s no need for that. There’s nothing to settle, you have every right to your opinion of me, even if it’s the worst.”
“My opinions of you aren’t the worst Damian, they are the best.”
Scoffs, “yeah right.”
“It’s true, you might not believe me, you might think that the only perception I have of you is nothing but that of a monster, but that is far from the truth Damian. I don’t see you like that at all.”
“Miranda, there’s no need to try to come here and say things just to make me feel better. It’s not working.”
Miranda ignored him and continued, baring her honest mind to the man in front of her. The only thing she knows is that all she’s about to say is the truth, and nothing but the truth.
“The first day we met, the first day I was dragged into this court as a prisoner, I was very much frightened of you Damian. You scared me to death especially with the methods by which you handled the affairs of the court, and you can’t blame me for feeling that way, especially since after that moment, I had to start counting the number of hours I had left if I failed to meet your conditions.”
“Miranda, I do not want to talk about this…”
“I’m not going to lie about the things I first thought about you Damian, about the things I HEARD people say about you, but if I paid a good amount of attention to any of those things, I never would have gone ahead with this marriage. I wanted to marry you Damian, and I’m glad I did. I know that it’s so early and we haven’t gotten to know each other pretty well as we should, but if there is anything I am most sure of, it’s that I know that you are a good guy Damian, you are not heartless as people say you are, and I do love being around you. I don’t like it when we fight… I don’t like it when we’re apart….”
The words were beginning to get to him, he had to do something.
“Stop it Miranda, now!”
He had the angry look again in his eyes as he spoke, the one she used to be terrified of, but it doesn’t scare her anymore, because right through those same eyes a few hours ago, she’d seen sincerity, she’d seen hurt, she’d seen kindness, she’d seen pain, and she’d seen truth.
Instead of backing down like she normally would, she stared straight into those angry eyes, “I wont stop, not until we make up. You can punish me as much as you want for being disobedient, but you and I both know that you want me, as much as I want you.”
She’d talked back, she’d disobeyed, she’d crossed the line, but instead of the normal method he would have settled for by summoning his guards in here to lock her up, he found her in his arms the next minute, he found himself ravaging her mouth with his as she sat on his laps, intense desire and pleasure roamed the empty court as he consumed her there like a wild tiger.
