“Welcome back, your highness!” The Lotus wolves chorused, greeting her one by one as she stepped down from the vehicle, they were happy to see her after many days of her being missing. Contrary to the beta’s demands, the guards had sent out search parties, but unfortunately, they couldn’t afford to look past their borders. They were thankful she was back now, as no one had dared to tell alpha Luther about his missing daughter, not when his life was practically hanging on a thread. Apart from the happiness they felt, they also wondered who this handsome rich hunk of a devil was that she’d returned with.
“He must be an alpha!”
“No! No! NO! he’s a king!”
“Naaaa! He looks more to me like a warlord!”
“What’s he doing here? Why is he with our princess…?”
Still at the entrance, Miranda then sought out one of the head lotus guards, Nigel and began questioning him. “Where is my father?” She asked.
Nigel bowed. “He’s been in his bedroom since you left, your highness, he’s been taking his medication and his condition has improved slightly. He’s been asking of you but we’ve not been able to tell him what had really happened.”
“Of course, Nigel, thank you for taking care of my father while I was away. Please clear the way for us to pass, I know everyone is excited to see me but we have important things to discuss with my father, can you bring him down to the meeting room? I have a guest that wishes to see him.”
A few minutes later, both Miranda and Damian were seated in the meeting room waiting before alpha Luther was brought in, he had a weak smile in his face as the guard helped him push his wheelchair from behind, bringing him closer towards them. Miranda didn’t wait; she got up from her seat and ran to embrace her father, how she’s missed this man so much, since her absence from here, she’s missed him the most and back at the silver packhouse, she could not help but worry about his condition even while being imprisoned.
“I was already getting tempted to get up and go and find you for myself dear Miranda,” he beamed as they broke the hug. “The guards kept on telling me different stories, it didn’t take long for me to know they were lying. Where were you all this time my dear?”
“I was… um…”
“She was with me sire,” Luther looked behind Miranda to see who the male dominant voice that echoed the room belonged to.
Alpha Damian reached where Luther was, and bowed his head slightly before giving him a handshake, Luther didn’t need any aided sight to see that there was another alpha, right there in his meeting room. His dominant stature and his deep voice gave it all away, it reminded Luther of how he used to look during his time; how the mighty had fallen.
Another alpha in his packhouse? He must be here for something important, but whatever could it be? Miranda didn’t miss the look of surprise on her father’s face, she then felt it time for the introductions.
“Father, this is alpha Damian of the silver pack. He is here because there’s been an agreement between the both of us for the best interest of the lotus tribe.”
“Alpha Damian, you’re the one who took over. I used to know your father, alpha Gerald, back when the tribes were still together, what a mighty alpha he was back then, its so good to see how much you’ve grown.”
Damian shut his eyes then, it was evident that for some reason, he didn’t like to hear about his father. Luther noticed and quickly changed the topic, facing Miranda.
“An agreement? What is it about dear?”
Damian took it up to answer, “a few days ago sire, your daughter mistakenly trespassed on my lands, claiming to be the Lotus princess. The silver wolves are very stringent about security so we didn’t believe her at first, I took her in as a prisoner, on the grounds that I wouldn’t kill her if she could prove her identity. She told me that her lover would come to save her, and verify her claim, but sadly, he never came. I decided to spare her life and propose another way that both packs would benefit; a marriage that would represent a union, not just between the both of us, both the two packs involved…”
Alpha Luther listened adeptly as Damian narrated everything, from the beginning when Miranda unknowingly stepped into the silver territory, to his decision that brought about their engagement, he didn’t miss out on any of the details.
After listening, alpha Luther nodded his head, finally able to comprehend, “so now that you are sure of who my daughter is, you are here to officially here to ask for her hand in marriage so you can take the troops and offer us aid?”
“Yes sire, that is exactly what we both came here for.”
He turned to Miranda, “um… dear, can you give us a moment? I want to speak with alpha Damian in private.”
She nodded understandingly. “Ok father,” she bent and gave him one last kiss on the forehead before leaving the meeting room for the two alphas to discuss.
She’d gone upstairs to her old bedroom, how she missed her small space, the silver wolves might have taken care of her but nothing compared to this hub of hers she’d stayed all her life. So sad that she might not be living here anymore. As she opened the door, Audrey and Beatrice were already there waiting for her, beaming like two small children that had just been given a bucket of candy.
Audrey ran to her first, jumping excitedly before giving her a hug, “oh Miranda dear, we missed you. Where have you been? What happened???”
Miranda sighed, taking a seat. “It’s a long story.”
“Tell us everything, we can wait. Who was that rich handsome man that followed you here?”
Well, here goes the story, “that rich handsome man, is the alpha of the mighty silver pack; my soon to be husband.”
