Frank took a deep breath, though he really wanted to get Charlotte.
But how long could he enjoy the riches and glory? He did not want to get involved in such legal boundary-pushing matters.
“I won’t get involved in it. The risk is too great,” he shook his head.
Nikolas also advised, “Yeah, going after those two kids, if it goes wrong, we’ll end up in jail.”
“I’m not so much worried about those two brats, just that I feel, it’s just not worth it. If it’s exposed, we’ll be done for,” he was just afraid of ending up behind bars.
If this matter was without any harm to them and only brought benefits, he would absolutely do it without hesitation.
“Useless,” Russell scolded, “Such a narrow-minded person.”
“Don’t forget our status, we are her kin. If she dares to move against us, that would be outrageous! If she refuses to yield, can she not worry about her kids?”
“And moreover, we can’t be the ones to do this… we need to stage a big show.”
There was a sinister gleam in Russell’s eyes.
“A big show?”
Hearing that Russell had already figured it out, everyone’s eyes lit up, waiting for him to speak.
“You are her brother, as an uncle, is it reasonable to pick her kids up, isn’t it?”
“If…,” Russell paused like he was teasing, then revealed a smug smile, “It wouldn’t be unreasonable if on the way back, the kids were taken by someone.”
With Russell’s hint, everyone suddenly understood his meaning!
“Brilliant!”
“Truly brilliant!”
Both the Pittman family and Frank praised at this moment.
Russell’s move was indeed brilliant.
Not only did it achieve the goal, but also left him clean.
Russell smiled smugly. Having been in the business world for decades, he had seen all sorts of means.
Dealing with someone like Charlotte was just child’s play!
Nikolas also nodded, “Alright, I’ll find a chance to get this done.”
Russell waved his hand, “The most important thing is to find a few reliable people who won’t mess up and spill the beans. Don’t betray us.”
“Understood?”
“Yes!”
Nikolas nodded. He knew where Janessa and Theo went to school, so this matter was easy to handle.
A day or two quickly passed. During these days, there was little contact between Charlotte and Quentin, and it seemed like there was a simmering tension between them.
Meanwhile, Charlotte was preparing to find a new job, sending out resumes and going to interviews in preparation for her employment. She would not be going back to the Pittman family’s company.
The alarm went off, and it was almost time to pick up the two kids from school. Charlotte finally stood up from her desk, rubbing her slightly heavy head.
Emma was busy in the kitchen, and seeing this scene, she shook her head and muttered softly, “I’ve told you to be more open-minded. If you marry Mr. Duncan, you’ll live a comfortable life with the Duncan family.”
“Why make yourself so busy, working hard all your life for just a few dollars.”
Charlotte remained silent. She knew Emma meant well, but there were things she didn’t want, and imposing them on her was pointless.
Sloburg Kindergarten.
Nikolas, as always, arrived at the school gate, then swiped his access card and entered.
For the past few days, he had been observing and had figured out the time when Charlotte would come to pick up the kids. So, today, he arrived a little earlier.
He went to the classroom door, picked up Joe, and then went to Theo and Janessa’s classroom. He asked politely, “Excuse me, is the teacher here?”
A young teacher came out of the classroom and frowned slightly upon seeing Nikolas, “May I ask, who are you…”
Nikolas smiled, “It’s like this. I’m Theo and Janessa’s uncle.”
“Their parents are unavailable today, and my child also goes to this school, so my cousin Charlotte asked me to help pick the kids up.”
“Here’s the message Charlotte sent me. Would you please take a look?”
