“Here, taste this.” Arien smiled passing a muffin towards him.
Devian took a bite.
“Sweet, isn’t it?” She asked.
“Mm…” He pulled her and planted a light kiss on her lips. “Not more than you” he replied.
Arien was surprised, “You ..” she was out of words for this man. He only knew how to tease her. She was blushing when he took her hand and walked forward.
“Where to?” She asked.
Devian kept quiet as usual making Arien think, “What’s in his head?”
After a while they entered the giant Ferris wheel. Guessing from Arien’s expression, Devian thought that she liked his idea. Just when he felt proud of his own idea, he saw her eyes filled with tears.
“What’s with that face? If my wife don’t like it, we can leave” Devian said.
“No, it’s just that…” Arien took a a deep breath. “It has been more than a year. I used to live here for job. They wanted me to be independent even if they could’ve made me live under their shadow. It’s already a year. I wasn’t even able to meet them for the last time. I am not a good daughter……” She burst out crying.
Devian felt sad seeing her so disheartened. He just stood there hugging her while all her tears wet his shirt.
“There there. You’re not alone. I’m here for you” Devian said consoling her.
Arien looked up and saw his face. He was really there. He has saved her many times. He was there whenever she needed him. He gave her a sense of security, a feeling of warmth. She stopped crying.
“Devian…” She called taking a step towards the giant glass window. “You know. When I came here with my parents for the last time, my mom told me about a myth. You want to know?” She turned around looking at him.
“Hmm…”
“She said, if a couple kisses when they reach the top of the Ferris wheel… They will be bonded together for the rest of their lives.”
Looking at Devian’s smiling face Arien unintentionally blushed and turned her face away so as to not let him see her red cheeks but Devian held her and pulled her just as they reached the top and kissed her.
Finally he let her go when she was out of her breath. “Now… You’re … Mine” Devian’s breath lingering near her ears made her feel like her whole body burning.
“You’re a pervert!” She pushed him. “Go away.”
“Pervert? Only in front of my wife” Devian smiled.
In a nutshell, they were happy with each one accompanying the other.
…
Days went and Julien’s wedding was after just a day.
Arien had already been living in Lyle Mansion since the past ten days helping in the preparations. She had already made the dress and fitting was also done. She has also designed a hand-made suit for Louis which completely matched with Julien’s dress.
Today she called them to recheck the fitting and designs after the final touch-ups, if they needed any other alterations. But Julien liked it very much. Every single detail of the dress.
Not only the bride but even mama Lyle and grandma liked the dress too.
All the men in the house were busy with guests and security checks. All the men… Except for Devian. He was as usual busy with work.
After all he’s the Great CEO of Ace Corporation Inc! He will have to handle a lot together so he was a bit exclusive from the wedding but not completely. He was still taking care of the arrangements from afar.
Everything was done, guests were invited, all famous and prominent figure.
Although he didn’t talk to her much, Grandpa was not so rude to Arien these days maybe because of his grand daughter’s wedding. He was happy and didn’t want the joyful atmosphere to be ruined.
Arien was busy helping in the final decorations of the house when she saw a lady entering the house. She was almost of Arien’s age with a beautiful face and fabulous figure. She seemed a walking beauty.
“Don’t know why but I feel that I have seen her somewhere before.” Arien thought but she couldn’t remember where.
“Miss, may I know whom do you want to meet?” Arien stepped forward and asked politely, thinking that she might be some guest as well or relative maybe.
“Oh… When did the servants become so outrageous?” The lady said in an inimical tone exactly opposite to what her temperament seemed, by looking at her.
“I’m not…” Arien wanted to say something but then saw old Mr Lyle coming from outside so she just greeted him first. “Grandpa.”
Then the lady turned around and greeted in sweet voice, the one completely different from which she used while talking to Arien.
“Oh girl! You’re back! Why didn’t you meet us before when your came here?” Grandpa ignored Arien just like she wasn’t there.
“Leo didn’t let me stay her. My health wasn’t good enough so he send me back to New York.” She replied.
“Oh so that’s what happened..” Grandpa nodded.
Arien wasn’t able to think where she has seen this lady but now she remembered. “It was at the hospital” when she went there with Jane.
“Wait! Isn’t she the famous model and actress of New York?” Arien guessed after looking briefly at her. “What was her name?…” She can’t remember.
“Come on in.” Grandpa said.
Arien was ignored but never mind. She was used to grandpa’s cold behavior.
After a while she was grandma and mama Lyle coming out of their room. “Oh Susan you’re here. So late”
Judging from their tones Arien could guess that they were too close just like a family.
Arien was still there busy with the decorations when Julien came inside. “Sister-in-law”, she shouted from the door.
Susan suddenly looked up to see Julien, “sister Julie.” She greeted but got a cold shoulder.
Rather Julien walked to Arien, “sister-in-law, I need your help” she smiled.
“Okay” Arien left following Julien, leaving Susan in a complete daze.
“Sister in law?” Susan clenched her fist tightly.
“Grandpa can I have a word with you?” She spoke smiling.
“Okay come to my room” old Mr Lyle got up leaving old Mrs Lyle and mama Lyle back. Susan followed him.
Devian was watching everything from the 2nd floor. He could only think of leaving this place as fast as he could with Arien. It was only her dear sister’s wedding for which he can’t leave right now.
Old Mrs Lyle saw Devian standing there and gestured him to come down.
Devian came to her and she made him sit beside.
“Son” she started. “I know you would feel uneasy right now because of Susan but you know…..”
“Grandma, I won’t feel uneasy because of anyone, I’ve always taken her as my younger sister but you and old Mr Lyle insisted me on marrying her. I’m sorry for what happened three years ago. But I won’t take the blame for that for the rest of my life.” Devian said coldly. “If nothing else I’ll leave first. I still have work in the office.” Saying that Devian left.
“Okay okay… See Averley” old Mrs Lyle turned to mama Lyle. “Our child has already grown up”
“Yes mom. They know how to handle things by themselves. It’s just that dad still thinks him responsible for everything happened three years back.” Mama Lyle said sadly.
“Oh I’ll talk to him over that.” Old Mrs Lyle patted her hand smiling to her.
