Gazer POV
“I’ve talked to the cops,” I said after I sat down in front of Damon who was now in the investigation room and had handcuffs on both hands.
His aura was just cold and the way he looked at me. I took a deep breath and then looked at the wound he had treated earlier at the hospital, after that, we went straight to the precinct then they put Damon in the investigation room.
“Does it still hurt?” I asked, he shook his head then leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.
“Tell Erelah, sorry.” He said coldly but I could feel the sincerity in what he said. I just stared at him.
“She shouldn’t have come near me anymore, she’s almost doomed.” He said then rolled his eyes. I could see the sadness in his eyes even though he was hiding it by staring at me coldly.
I remember again the time Damon first apologized to us.
I’m sure he blames himself for the release of Achaz and Chai. I know Damon, since we were kids he blames nothing but himself. At the time he killed Doc and his parents he also blamed himself for the release of Achaz and his host Chai.
“What did the cops say?” He suddenly asked. I smiled at him.
“You’ll be free now.” Smiling I said even though the truth is not. Heavy charges were filed against Damon, Homicide, Attempted killing, and public violation.
I saw Damon laugh and then grin.
“I want to be locked up in a mental hospital.” I was stunned by what he said. The smile disappeared from my lips immediately after he said that.
“What are you talking about?” I asked then scolded him.
I secretly clenched my fist because of what he said.
“Continue the mission.” Suddenly he also said so I stood up and was annoyed to look at him.
“Damon, what are you saying? We’ll probably continue the mission. You’re in there.” I said, he just shook his head and then showed the handcuffs in his hand.
“Not allowed.” He said then lowered his hand to the table.
“I think after what happened today at the amusement park I will be imprisoned.” He said so I immediately shook my head.
“Didn’t you hear what I said? I’ve talked to the police and you’ll be free–”
“Homicide, Attempted killing and public violation.” He suddenly said so I was stunned. “Those three cases are serious.”
“But I said that you have a mental illness so they will do a test to confirm what I said. That it wasn’t you who did it but Chai and Achaz.” I said.
“Even if they do the test, Gazer you know that in prison I failed.”
“Stop it, Damon, you’ll be free if you’re innocent.”
“Gazer the alter yes the host no.” He said so I was stunned and looked at him. His gaze was still cold. I took a deep breath then wiped my face and sat down in front of him again.
“Even if they conduct a test to see if the host of this body itself has a defect in prison, we will still fail.” He said so I bit my lip so hard then looked away.
“Then act like you’re the host,” I said suddenly so there was a long silence between us.
I looked at him he was staring at me as if studying what I told him.
“Look, Damon, you can’t be imprisoned if you’re innocent. If we fight your case in court there’s a chance you’ll win and lose your case because of your illness.” I said crazy.
“Gazer don’t you understand?” He asked so annoyed I closed my eyes.
“I understand Damon so I’m suggesting that you act like you’re the host to get you excused.” Irritated I said, I stared at him when he suddenly stood up.
In his cold aura, he suddenly realized it had become soft and smiled at me, a smile I had just seen from Damon.
“There will be no justice if I do that Gazer.” He said so my lips felt pity.
Did he mean, he would allow him to be imprisoned for justice?
“Are you willing to go to jail? Damon?” I asked. He nodded, no doubt his answer as he smiled at me.
“W-Why?” I fail to question.
“I’m tired of hiding Gazer. I’m tired of hiding so I’ll face the consequences.” He said coldly, my lips pitying at what he said. I close my eyes and hold back the tears.
Why? Why does he think such things? Chai and Achaz must have thought that he wasn’t.
“I want this body to be held accountable for the sin committed by its host. I want before I disappear as the alter of this body, I have already given justice to them mama and papa. As well as Doc and the others killed by Chai. ” He said seriously.
“This body of ours lives with dirty hands, stained with great sin and the only way I can see is death to bring justice to those who have perished at the hands of this body.” Suddenly I was bent over, I fisted and punched him immediately because of what he said.
“What is it, Damon? Stop saying death, if you want to go to jail, go ahead and go to jail. Just don’t think that your death will be the way to bring justice to the victims at Chai’s hands.” Irritated I said. He looked at me, with a cold stare.
“You take care of your life, as long as we find Havacco’s way to get you out of jail. We will fight your case in court and we will stand up that you are the host and only your alters committed the crime.” Irritated I said then turned away from him.
I was about to leave the investing room when he suddenly spoke to stop me.
“I saw in the news earlier that the death penalty has been passed in the Senate.” He said coldly so I was stunned.
“The president has also signed the law for the death penalty.” He added so I turned to him.
“What is it?” I asked irritably.
He shook his head and then sat down in his chair.
“I want a psychiatrist to examine me while I’m in mental confinement.” He said coldly then averted his eyes. I was just shaken and then finally left the investigating room. I gasped as I got out of there and immediately wiped away a few grains of tears that dripped from my eyes.
I will not allow the death penalty to punish Damon. It’s as if he’s Havacco’s brother, we’ll do everything we can to get Damon out of jail and get Achaz gone.
“Gazer.” I looked up to call me. Erelah, behind her, is Havacco who is also looking at me.
“Will Damon be able to get out now?” Erelah asked weakly. I just stared at him then looked again at Havacco who averted his eyes from me.
