Charlotte’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably. Could it be that Quentin was really brewing some wicked ideas? Judging by the situation, Eric was likely to suffer a heavy loss today.
Emma and the others were also trembling in fear. This little game they played probably cost millions, but it was evident that Eric’s wealth was indeed substantial.
Ordinary folks couldn’t afford such extravagance, after all.
Emery pulled out a cigarette and took a drag. Compared to Emma, he saw through things more clearly.
It was obvious that Eric had fallen into a trap. Just a few instigating remarks from Quentin, and Eric lost his cool. Moreover, Eric’s behavior today seemed rather unreliable to him.
As a man, he understood that Eric’s feelings for Charlotte were more about possessiveness. Once he succeeded in winning her over…
He fell silent.
Shortly after, the general manager ordered the servants to present the wines.
“Romanee-Conti, priced at 1. 88 million per bottle. We have five bottles in stock.”
“Drunkenness, priced at 1. 28 million, with three bottles available.”
Practically every top-tier wine in the store was brought out by the general manager. The prices made Eric’s heart pound frantically just by looking at them.
“I drain it, you do as you please!” Quentin opened a bottle of Romanee-Conti and downed it in one gulp.
Eric felt like his heart was pounding out of his chest. 1. 88 million gone just like that?
Furthermore, Quentin didn’t even turn red or break a sweat; his capacity for alcohol was terrifying.
“Come on, Eric, drink up! Are you going to back down?” Quentin teased.
“Drink! I have to drink!” Eric didn’t want to lose face, so he reluctantly picked up a bottle and gulped it down.
Struggling to finish one bottle, his belly felt like it was about to burst, and his head was getting dizzy.
Quentin finished a second, third and fourth bottle of Romanee-Conti but remained as calm as ever. Eric was dumbfounded.
“Can’t handle it? Eric, with your pathetic tolerance, how can you compete with me?” Quentin sneered, deliberately provoking Eric.
“You…” Eric felt intimidated, having struggled with one bottle, he felt like he was about to embarrass himself. But Quentin wouldn’t let him off the hook!
He reluctantly opened a bottle and halfway through, he vomited, a pungent smell spreading around! What a spectacle!
Emery and the others covered their noses in disgust.
“It seems, Eric, that you’re admitting defeat. In that case, let’s settle the bill,” Quentin said with a faint smile, gesturing to the general manager.
Immediately, the general manager proceeded, “Eric, you’ve spent a total of 10. 42 million. We’ll give you a discount, so it totals 10 million. Will you be paying by card or cash?”
What!?
Hearing this, Eric suddenly jumped up, his mind now almost completely clear!
10 million…?
Emery and the others were also shocked; it seemed… it really was that amount?
“Eric, are you planning to default?” Quentin taunted, “Aren’t you very wealthy? Unable to produce 10 million?”
“Are you setting me up?” Eric angrily suspected.
“All of this, you agreed to by yourself. I didn’t force you,” Quentin retorted. “You better consider how to resolve this predicament.”
The general manager’s face darkened as well. He indifferently stated, “Eric, are you thinking of dodging payment? According to our store rules, anyone who defaults will have their tendons cut and be thrown out crippled!”
“Eric, you better think this through carefully!”
“Are you threatening me?” Eric furiously asserted. “You’re all in cahoots…”
Before he could finish speaking, a crisp slap resounded, and his face was fiercely slapped!
The general manager grabbed his hair, lightly tapping his face, and took out a knife. “Brat, do you think I’m joking with you?”
Eric was so scared he felt like he was about to pee himself!
“I… I…” Trembling all over, “I didn’t drink the alcohol. It was this guy!”
The general manager directly pressed his head onto the table and coldly said, “You said it was on your treat, and I heard it clearly.”
Eric was at his wits’ end!
10 million!
Where could he get that kind of money?
His family only had assets of just over 20 million! Having a cash flow of a few million was already considered good. Producing 10 million would bankrupt the company…
