Violet’s POV
I was very happy when my brother, Everett, came knocking to ask for my help in making something nice for his mate, and currently, my friend Rachelle.
The look on his face was enough to make me laugh, he looked worried, so worried that one would have thought that he had dropped a baby by accident, or something worse.
“Um, Violet?” He had said when I opened the door for him.
“Um, yeah?” I said, confused as to why he would be at my door so early in the morning.
“I need your help with something very, very important.” He said, with worry in his eyes and I got worried instantly too.
“What happened? What is it, Everett? Please tell me quickly, I can help you solve it. Did you run over someone? Or did you kill a-” I asked but he cut me in, shaking his head and widening his eyes even more, leaving me with the notion that whatever it is he had done had been even worse than killing someone.
“I have destroyed the kitchen and I have had no success whatsoever in making the surprise breakfast that I had planned for Rachelle. Everything is going down and it is all very horrible, trust me, you do not even want to see the state that the kitchen and the food that I had prepared is in.” He said, paving around and breathing heavily.
I stared at my brother in silence for two complete minutes. And then I blinked rapidly.
“Wait, what?” I asked, wondering if he was actually serious with the way things were going. “Are you serious? Was that what happened earlier? That made you come here panting and worried?” I asked.
He looked me dead in the eye and replied.
“I did tell you that it was pretty serious. Come and help me now!” He exclaimed and hit the wall gently.
Then I started to laugh, unable to hold any of it in. It was all so hilarious as my brother, the alpha had come knocking as if something bad had happened, like maybe, one of the houses in the pack community was on fire and some wolves were burnt to death or something.
But no, he was seriously disturbed because the breakfast he was to make for his darling had been a disaster.
I mean, I understood that that was a sad situation, but the look on his face was way too much for what the situation demanded. He should have gone to theatre school and become and actor instead because all that drama was too much.
He dragged me to the kitchen with him and what I saw made me shake my head in amusement and pity.
He had tried making pancakes, forgetting to add the eggs and then he had added too much cream and so it was stuck to the ceiling. There were cracked eggs all over the floor and flour in the sink?
I didn’t even want to ask how that got there. The kitchen was in a mess and it looked and felt like some kind of small tornado had hit it.
The tornado being my older brother, alpha of our pack, the one and only Everett Frenchman.
“Did a storm hit this place or did you have a party ame no one else knew except you?” I teased, asking him with a serious face as he just sheepishly shrugged.
“Please just help me prepare some breakfast for Rachelle. I want to make some pancakes and eggs and- and any other thing girls love to eat for breakfast.
I shook my head in pity. He did not even have a menu, or something for him to at least know what to cook. With a sigh, I told him to clean up while I cooked all the dishes, and he happily obeyed.
And that was how Everett ended up with a stool ladder in the middle of the kitchen and two scrapers in each hand, as he tried to scrape up his disasters which he called pancakes.
I laughed at him as I looked up, making a silly face that made him frown.
“Laugh at me one more time and I would drop a pancake piece onto your head now. You’ll see.” He said in a bid to threaten me.
I laughed at him again. “If you do that, you might miss and drop your disaster into your mate’s dish. I am very sure that you do not want that to happen, do you now?” I asked with a smirk and he rolled his eyes, muttering something about annoying manipulative little sisters.
Cruel world brother, I know.
Everett was almost done with cleaning the kitchen and I was already done with preparing the large breakfast set out. After stealing a few pieces of each and taking them to my room to eat, I returned to see that Everett was already done with his cleaning.
“Someone is finished with their job already. Do you think it’s time to wake sleeping beauty now?” I nodded at him.
“Shut up. And yes, I would wake her up soon. I just need to make sure that everything is perfect.” He said, waiting for something, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
“Uh, are you waiting for something?” I asked confused.
“Yes, actually. A delivery.” He said curtly.
“A delivery? You know humans are not allowed here, right?” I asked him with widened eyes, wondering if this love had made him lose all sense of reasoning.
“Relax. It is a wolf that is doing the delivery. I know the guy. How do you think I get all my things to the pack? I have a personal delivery guy!” Everett said and I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Can I-” I began but he cut me off.
“No!” He said with a tone of finality.
“You did not even allow me to say what I wanted to say, you just said ‘no’, like a big old meanie!” I complained.
“You were about to ask me if you could use my delivery guy and had just given you my reply, annoying little sister.” He groaned. Then his phone began to ring. He picked it up and answered the call.
“Hello. Yes, yes, I’m coming to get it!” My brother said with excitement in his voice as he went down.
“What happened?” I asked after him.
“My delivery is here!” He said and sped down with out another word.
Soon he came back up with a cake box and a large teddy bear?
“Is today her birthday?” I asked him.
“No. Girls just love cake and teddy bears.” He said, putting the cake in the centre of the spread and placed the teddy bear on one of the chairs.
Oh, so that was why he had asked me to leave some space for something that would go in the middle of the table.
Well, at least he is doing something good for her. Look at my baby brother being all lovey dovey and romantic!
“You really do like her a lot, don’t you?” I asked him with a grin.
“I love her! And why not? Is there anything about her that is not to be loved?” He asked me as he came towards me and wrapped me in a hug.
“It is so beautiful. Thank you for helping me out! He said, and I nodded.
“I love helping my big brother. Especially if it’s fir one of my very good friends.”
“I do not want people coming here to disturb us though.” He said, his lips twisting into a frown.
“It is alright, I would keep the rest of the pack at bay, so they would not have to come here.” I nodded at him.
“Go on, I would stand here to keep watch for you until you arrive.” I smiled at him, encouraging him to go and wake Rachelle up to get her ready for breakfast.
With a nod, and a small peck to my forehead, he ran out to call her out. I sighed as he did so.
Ah, young love is so, so beautiful.
Bringing out my phone, I made a phone call to Theodore.
“Hey Theodore. Good morning.” I said as he picked up the call.
“Good morning Violet. You could have just mind linked me though.
“This one makes me feel like I am in a movie, and starring as the main character.” I said and flipped my hair, although knowing that he could not see me.
“Before you flip your hair off your head, tell me why you called me. I was about to take a nice shower.” He grunted.
“Ouch Theodore, I feel offended. Did you not miss me at all, even a little bit?” I asked.
“Just speak, missy!” He said impatiently.
“Whatever.” I hugged. “Everett and Rachelle are going to have dinner at the main kitchen today, this morning, ame they must not be disturbed for anything. I need you to inform the people who need to know, and also for you to tell the cooks to use the other kitchen, or you can order some breakfast for us and the rest of the pack, of course. Some people are starving!” I complained afterwards.
“They have made up? Yes!” Theodore said seemingly excited.
“Were they ever fighting?” I asked him.
“No. Not really, it was just over some food that Everett took from her.” He explained and I shook my head. My brother never had any sense sometimes though.
“Okay then, go take your shower.” I said with a laugh.
“Thank you ma’am.” Theodore said and cut the call.
Hopefully, Theodore would order something nice and tasty for us to eat. I was hungry and the food in my room was calling out to me. But I could not leave until my brother and his girl was here. I had to protect the meal cooked with love- and the tears of my brother. I thought as I smiled to myself.
I felt happy for him. I was happy that he had found his mate in Rachelle, she was a strong were wolf, and after all that she had been through, she still had an admirable attitude, and her positivity was too much for someone who had spent the greater part of her life in pain and unwanted heavy duties placed upon her shoulders.
Even after I had stayed in the Blood moon pack for days and I did less work and got lesser punishment than she did, I already had a negative outlook on life, and I felt like I was ready to die. Like everything was over and there was no hope for anyone and everyone ever again.
But Rachelle, she just had this way of bringing her head up high as life mocked her and seemed to spit in her face. She spat back and-
The voice of my brother and his giggling mate brought me back to reality. I got out of the kitchen and closed the door ever so quietly before running out, trying to make as little noise as possible. I hoped their breakfast date would go well.
I thought as I said a small prayer to the moon goddess to take care of them and to always keep them together. To keep them together happily.
As I got to my room and locked the door, I sat down to gorge on the bites of goodness that I had brought from the kitchen, and I knew that Rachelle would have all the fun in the world once she tasted my dishes.
My mind drifted to thoughts of my mate.
Stellan.
I had not told my brother about him yet, as he was a member of the Blood moon pack, and I did not think that a part of me would be willing to accept him. Besides, yes, he did seem nice, but that was how mean people usually acted from the beginning. I was still not sure honestly, so at this point all I could only hope that he was way better than the rest of the members that he had mingled with at the Blood moon pack.
