Everett’s pov
To say I was shocked would be an understatement, I was speechless and unable to think or move for a while as I stared at Rachelle in her werewolf form when she changed into that perfect beautiful white fur with the gold stripe that slid down her spine lustrously before her fur changed to a brown and black color, and that caused a stir as people found it hard to hide their shock. She was beautiful, captivating and I couldn’t help but wonder why the moon goddess had to choose her for me as my mate because she was everything I had always wished for; a strong, feisty and brave woman that could endure any situation, a woman who knew how to love and care no matter what she’s been through and Rachelle was all of it. After seeing her white fur when she shifted, I didn’t know what to think. I thought and wondered a million things but couldn’t get an exact answer to any. It was obvious she was marked a Luna, a rare one at that. I knew there was a reason why she was my mate, I knew she also had a purpose because she seemed extraordinary and I was going to find it all out.
Everyone was speechless too, because we had never seen anything like it; they were gasping and murmuring with astonished looks in their eyes as they stared at her. She was rare and special. She looked surprised too when she changed back and I guessed she had never had a white fur in her werewolf form before… Maybe the moon goddess was protecting her, because I knew the Paz pack’s alpha wouldn’t think twice before killing her if he found out while she was still there because she would be a threat to their authority and power. I was guessing she was a Luna, or maybe she had their genes… but she never met her parents, so there was no way she would know what happened to them or why they left her in the first place, she was in the dark about all these too.
It was all confusing though and I didn’t want to jump into any conclusion about her fur color or her kind of werewolf yet until we were sure about her origin and history and what specie of a werewolf she was exactly.
There was a high possibility of her being a Luna werewolf though, but according to history, the particular pack where this special werewolves dwelt and all grew up for many years and generations was destroyed and most of them were killed which led to their extinction. There was a possibility that Rachelle didn’t know what she was or the gift she possessed in her as a white wolf. I couldn’t help but wonder also; maybe that’s why our bond was tighter than the bond of normal mated werewolves because I couldn’t control or help the great pull I always felt towards her all the time she was around me, even when she wasn’t. An Alpha and a Luna… perfect! Seeing Rachelle in that form and how her fur changed quickly, made me determined to find out more about her so we could have an idea of the cause of her change of color.
White wolves were the first descent of the werewolves now existing in the world. They were the most powerful and had special gifts apart from morphing, sharp hearing and mind linking. They were the most feared and most respected when they still existed. With time, they mixed up with humans which led to different types of werewolves amongst ourselves. There were ranks amongst the white wolves too, from the most powerful to the least powerful; but even the least powerful had more power than a normal werewolf… that’s to show how powerful they were. Their weakness was unknown so they were hard to defeat in times of war or conflict, until this unknown strange man, whose identity was never known, destroyed the whole pack of white wolves, wiping them out for eternity. It seemed though, that few were able to escape.
Rumors had it that only a few were lucky to escape but with time the rumor was declared fake because not even one white wolf was seen ever since then. Seeing Rachelle now made me wonder; what if they went into hiding to save themselves? What if this unknown villain still existed? Would he come for Rachelle? I couldn’t let that happen, I couldn’t do without her, I couldn’t let a repeat of what happened to me when she was kidnapped happen again. She was my reason for existence now, same as she was my bane.
Yes! I had only known her for a few weeks but the moon goddess had ordained her my mate and we were all bound as werewolves to follow the moon goddess match and be with the person she’s chosen for us, apart from that, I was sure I had deep feelings for her, it was like she woke a part of me when she came into my life. The pull between us though was uncanny, it was like I had known her for years but only met her recently because we connected so fast, we couldn’t help it. Now I couldn’t go a day without seeing her or touching her or even speaking to her, especially after she was kidnapped by the Paz pack… it only made me want to see her more because fear of her safety always lurked in my mind. It became more like an activity of mine that must be fulfilled all the time every day. I even once offered to share a bedroom with her but she only laughed it off, saying we deserved a little privacy sometimes.
She could be a white wolf, we would have concluded all that if she had stayed and maintained the white and gold on her fur, but the sudden change to brown and black fur was very strange and I had never seen it, never experienced it and I couldn’t help but think about Rachelle and her werewolf form on and on. It was hard to erase from the thought and wonders from the back of my mind. Theodore told me though, the first day he found her as a rogue in our pack. She was still in her wolf form, brown and black this time and was quite large that he thought she was a male. To find out she was a female werewolf really surprised him because her size was considerably large for a female werewolf. He told me he was really surprised.
All these put together made no sense. Yes she was bigger than the average female werewolves in their wolf form, she had a white and gold shiny fur before she had her fur changed to a brown and black fur but it still gave me no idea of what to think of, was she a Luna or not? I trusted Rachelle so I knew she wouldn’t hide her identity or the truth about herself from me, she wouldn’t lie to me about who she was. I figured she was also going to be wondering who or what she really was at this moment. I hoped Violet was there to lend her a shoulder to lean on, distract her from wandering thoughts that’ll stress her and keep her calm while we did some research.
Theodore came into the study where I was sat alone to bask in my thoughts and confusion and sat opposite me then a rather deafening silence stretched on for quite some time between us, none of us knowing what to say to each other, the shock from seeing Rachelle’s fur was still in us both. I could understand… no one had ever seen anything like it before.
“What do you think she is Everett?” Theodore asked me, I sighed and bent my head “I honestly don’t know what to think, it’s fascinating and scary at the same time” I replied and added “I mean she also doesn’t know what she is, she didn’t even know she could do that” and Theodore nodded “what do we do?” He asked and Violet came in at that moment
“I say we consult the priest, he always has an answer” she chipped in and took a seat at the far end of the study. We all shared a look, we knew if word got out of our pack, we could be at a risk if she was truly a white wolf Luna because they would all want her.
I put Violet’s opinion into consideration and thought it over. It made sense and seemed like the perfect solution to all these doubts and questions that were in people’s minds but this wasn’t something simple that just happened so I couldn’t make any decision on my own, not without the Crescent moon pack’s subhead inclusion and approval in our decision making. I nodded at Violet “that makes sense though but I need to call Hulk, he should be here… this involves us all” I replied “yeah that’ll do” she agreed and I called for a guard, gave him the orders to call the subhead Hulk and tell him that his presence was needed.
“How’s Rachelle?” I asked out of worry “she’s good, coping with the whole situation quite well” she replied and I felt relieved a bit, I was still going to check on her later though.
Minutes later, Hulk arrived and sat himself down with Violet and Theodore, ready to rub minds with us. He already knew what happened earlier today so there was no need to brief him “what do we do about Rachelle?” He asked the same question Theodore and Violet asked me and I repeated what Violet thought of “Violet gave an opinion that we consult the priest to know the origin and history of Rachelle” I said and he nodded; he seemed like he bought the idea too “that’s quite good, but I think we also need to research. The priest may have an answer but research and the werewolf history will have a full story of everything that happened years ago and give us a clue about Rachelle’s origin” he added.
I liked that too. Even if the priest could give us an answer about the gifts of Rachelle, and let us have a little knowledge of who she was, we still had to perform a deep research on the history of the white wolves and have an in depth knowledge of all that has happened to them throughout their existence till they went into extinction from the wide attack. We had to know what or who helped in Rachelle’s survival and who exactly abandoned her at the gates of the Pazpack, we also had to know about the things a white wolf could do and the full powers they possessed.
“With all that said and concluded, I guess we know who we need to call” Hulk said and we all stared at each other.
Crew and Hazel; they were siblings and part of the founders of the Crescent moon pack. They were the only people we could call and hope to find out more about Rachelle. They lived in Germany and Italy respectively after they departed many years ago to do more research and studying on the history of werewolves, their species, powers and perhaps bring in new discoveries that would bring growth and development to the lives of werewolves as the world changed every day. They were well known for their knowledge on the genealogy of werewolves and were often consulted by many across the world… rumor once had it that they were immortals and no one knew when they were exactly born or created by the moon goddess because they had lived for many decades. “Crew and Hazel we’ll consult then” I told them adding their names to the priest’s name for the general consultation we were going to carry out to find out more about Rachelle and her sudden change of fur color.
