“What’s cooking in that little head of yours?” Nikolai asked while folding his hands against his chest.
“Nothing,” I said, shaking my head.
He raised his thick eyebrow, With an intimidating stare. “I have a plan, and I need your help to execute it,” I said,
“What plan?” He asked with the same expression on his face.
“I…” Before I could tell him, I was cut off by Penelope’s voice.
“What are you guys doing here?” She asked while walking towards us. Turning to Nikolai she said.”People are asking you Nik” He nodded his head and gave a last glance at me and walked off.
I moved my eyes back to Penelope who was glancing at me and Nikolai who was walking inside. The corner of her lips formed a smirk.
“What?!” I asked, Confused at her smirking face. She shook her head and said “Nothing… We should go inside” I nodded and walked inside with her.
Inside, everyone is still dancing and busy in their own little world. Penelope and I walked towards the bar and sat down on the chairs.
“Hot damn, please,” Penelope ordered the bartender, who nodded and started preparing the shot.
“You drink?!” I asked her, she nodded.
I smiled while shaking my head and turned my head to the other side, I noticed that at the corner there was a VIP room where several men were sitting on couches and talking to each other. Enzo and Nikolai were sitting across each other. Clearly, both were ignoring each other’s existence. I sighed and glanced at Alan, who was sitting beside Nikolai, busy watching Penelope. I glanced back at Penelope to see her gulping another shot down.
“Penelope, that’s enough drinking,” I said and signaled the bartender to stop serving her.
“Okay… okay,” she said, raising her hands up in the air. She turned to me and smiled wickedly. It has confused me.
“Why are you smiling at me?” I asked,
“Nothing,” she said, shaking her head.
“Then why are you smiling at me like that?” I asked, raising my left eyebrow.
“I sense… something between you and my dear brother Nik” She wiggled her eyebrows.
I glanced back at Nikolai who was listening to the elderly man who was speaking. My eyes moved to Enzo, he was also listening to the man with his full attention. His face was calm, without any trace of sadness or hurt. He was still attractive and handsome like before, nothing changed.
****clearing throat****
I turned to Penelope, and she was smirking at me, which irritated me.
“Will you stop it!” I asked, irritated.
“Okay,” she said, laughing at me.
“Hey beautiful” A male voice came from behind, I turned around to see a handsome and muscular man with baby brown eyes and masculine face. He was tall and was wearing a black suit that fitted him perfectly, showing off his perfect abs and shoulders.
I felt someone’s glare on me, I glanced at the person and saw a pair of green eyes, watching me intensely. I can see the fury in his eyes from where I was. My mind was giving me dangerous ideas to use this situation according to my will but my heart says not too. A smirk made its way up while I stared at his intense dark green eyes. I turned my head to the man in front of me and gave a smile, “Hello,” I said, in a seductive voice.
“Can I have a dance?” He asked, with a smirk as he extended his hand towards me.
I glanced at angry Enzo, who was glaring his extended hand. I smiled and put my hand in his, “of course,” I said, he took hold of my hand and walked us to the dance floor.
As I walked to the dance floor my eyes never left Enzo’s. The man I walked with turned to me and smiled as his hand moved to my waist and pulled me closer to him. My hand was placed on his chest, and my other hand was in his.
The song was slow and our steps were matching with the song. All the time my eyes were on Enzo, and the smirk on my lips didn’t leave. Suddenly I felt this man breathe on my neck and my body shivered.
“What’s your name, angel?” He asked,
“Ve… Venessa” I shuttered and felt a little uncomfortable with his closeness.
“Oh! What a beautiful name… by the way, my name is George Monroe,” He huskily whispered, his lips were slightly touching my ear lobe.
I slightly pushed him back, “I… I have to go,” I said and turned around, but he caught my wrist and pulled me back. My back hit his chest, “Where are you running Angel?” he whispered in my ear; his hands gripped my waist. I tried to wiggle out of his hold but he was strong.
“Leave me!” I yelled, but he didn’t. He pressed me against himself, and I can feel his bulge against my back. Tears started rolling in my eyes and suddenly his hands were no more on my body. I turned around to see Enzo punching George in the face. I gasped and ran towards Enzo and grabbed his hand.
“Enzo! Stop!!” I yelled but he didn’t, he shoved his hands off my hands and glared at me. I moved back and gulped, he was scary and his glare was like an animal glare. It’s very frightening. He pulled his gun from his back pocket and pointed at the man on the ground.
I gasped and moved to him, “Enzo!” I whispered, he didn’t respond. His gun was still pointing at him. I know I’m scared when those old fears run through my head, I hear Brian’s taunting laughter in my head. The adrenaline floods my system like it’s on an intravenous drip – right into my blood at full pelt. I think my heart will explode, and my eyes are wide, letting in every ounce of the fading light.
My body wants to either run fast far away or hide somewhere but instead I stay right where I am. Sometimes freezing is the best of the choices and let’s face it, there really are only three. I want to quell the hammering in my chest, but there’s no way that will happen now. My only choices are to watch him kill George or run from here or convince him to not kill him.
None will work with him; Enzo never listens to anyone and I can’t watch him do this and also I can’t run away from him. I glanced at George; his face was pale. He was so scared that his forehead was covered with sweat and his body was literally shaking.
“Enzo!” I whispered.
When he turned at last to face me, All I saw was anger, fury in his eyes. It scared me to no end. Tears started rolling in my eyes, my lower lip started trembling.
