Our team name was Lighters and theirs was matched. Funny right! Ours was chosen by Alan. Theirs was chosen by Norah.
I pulled my hair up into a high ponytail, While I’m doing that I felt eyes on me. I turned around to see the pair of blue eyes staring me intensely while removing his shirt off his body and wearing a T-shirt. I tried hard not to look at his toned muscles and his perfect abs. His eyes weren’t moving from my face, even though we stood far from each other I could see the corner of his pink lips moving upward. I gulped and turned around coming face to face with Penelope. She was watching us all this while. She smirked and walked towards everyone. I took a deep breath and relaxed. I walked to others while moving my strands over my ears.
The first twenty minutes our game was head to head with the score Five to Five.
“Run Darwin!” I shouted at him as Boris slammed me to the ground.
Hitting his arms, I said “Get up, get up” laughing, he moved and I stood up.
I saw Darwin hit it, and our teammates jumped “Yes!!”
We started again, this time I was going to the ball, I took a deep breath and stared at Nikolai who was in front of me.
As Roman hiked the ball to Darwin, he tossed it to Caleb, I ran behind Nikolai to the other side, Caleb threw the ball and I jumped up, catching it mid-air and running with Nikolai hot on my heels.
I tucked holding the ball and landing behind the line standing and tossing the ball down.
Roman ran to while smiling from ear to ear, I bent down and raised both hands. He hit them with his small hands.
We walked back to the line, and this time Darwin would be the quarterback for Caleb who would run it.
As Roman tossed the ball to Ivan, Ivan tossed it to me and I went to throw it but was blocked by Alan, I tossed it to Darwin and he caught
it. ‘Ran, Dar!!” I said running after Alon who was running after Darwin.
I saw Nikolai ready to tackle Darwin, I ran past Alan and jumped in between Nikolai and Darwin, and went tumbling in a rollover on the grass.
His arms were wrapped around me covering my head until we stopped rolling and just laid there. I lifted my head quickly watching Darwin; I sat up and shouted: “Go Darwin!!” He made a touchdown and I smiled, screaming “Yes! Yes! Yes!” I was jumping on Nikolai. I looked down at him, and he was watching me with questioning eyes. Realizing I was sitting on his chest I got up, “sorry,” I mumbled before hurrying to Roman.
By the end of the game, we beat them by three points. Roman was smiling and looking happy, he was with me all the time and I liked it. I was trying to make Roman talk and suddenly someone lifted me off my feet, “Hey!!” They walked to court and put on the basket. I looked down to see Nikolai smirking at me, Penelope and Darwin came to us.
“We didn’t expect you would do it, Nick, guess you beat us to it,” said Darwin to Nikolai.
Roman came to the court followed by everyone, he looked at me and turned to look at Nikolai.
“She will fall,” he said, the worry was evident in his voice and facial expressions.
Nikolai’s smirk dropped when he saw Roman’s face, he quickly tried to grab me but I slipped through the basket and landed on the ground safely. They were shocked at my stunt, Their mouths were wide open and shock was evident.
Looking at their expressions, I was internally smirking, it was a satisfying show.
I went to Roman’s height and took his hand in mine, “I’m fine, see I came down,” I said to him. He smiled, and I took his hand in mine, we both walked inside the house leaving them behind.
