Chapter 77: Epilogue

Book:My Refusing Wolf Mate Published:2024-6-5

Emma lifted her ring finger, allowing Patrick to slide the ring on. The fit was perfect, much like how they fit together. Emma was overjoyed; she had never felt happiness like this before. She was completely enveloped, finally finding her person.
As it turned out, she hadn’t been alone all these years. She had always been remembered, and at every stage of her life, this person would appear and accept her.
One week later, Edward held a farewell ceremony for Emma and Patrick. It felt more like a wedding, with everyone’s blessings showering upon them as they returned to the Silver Moon Pack.
Before leaving, Emma guided Patrick past her mother’s resting place. She looked at her mother’s tombstone and handed flowers to Patrick, telling her mother that she had found her destined partner.
The stone in the forest now bore an additional name, Patrick’s, in commemoration of their meeting.
She didn’t know if she could return to this place as the Luna, but she would miss everything about the Blue Halo Pack. She could still keep in touch with the people here through phone and the internet.
Before Patrick drove off, Edward sternly admonished him, “You promised me that you won’t let her be mistreated anymore. No matter how far, I will make sure she comes back. And I can guarantee that you won’t see her for the rest of your life!”
Patrick reassured once again, “I love her as I love my life. I won’t let her get hurt.”
Emma rolled her eyes; sometimes she couldn’t stand these self-assured assurances between men. Come on, she was a Luna; back then, it was because she didn’t have a wolf, and now, she and her wolf wouldn’t let her face the crisis of two years ago again.
Emma and Patrick hadn’t marked each other yet, but they had already chosen the place and time. He had been away from the Silver Moon Pack for too long and needed to return to take care of some matters.
Emma’s return was most joyous for May, who almost hugged Emma and cried loudly, wiping her snot and tears on her, and finally had to be pulled away by her brother.
Harry and Nicola had completed the marking ceremony, and in the spring of this year, Nicola became pregnant. She looked more mature and graceful than before.
Emma asked her to have afternoon tea, fulfilling her wish to feel the baby’s movements inside her bulging belly. It was truly a magical experience.
“So, will this little one also be a Beta in the future?” Emma asked.
“Very likely, just like your future baby will also be an Alpha,” Harry answered for Nicola.
“What if it’s a girl?” Emma was curious, but she wasn’t ready for a baby, even though the likelihood of pregnancy increases after their marking ceremony.
“It might depend on whether the Alpha acknowledges her, but I think the current Silver Moon Pack would be willing to accept a female Alpha,” Nicola said proudly.
A female Alpha was really a good vision; Emma knew that the Silver Moon Pack had changed a lot in these two years, and Nicola’s statement was not without basis. When she returned this time, she found that there were fewer guards in the manor, and even the servants were not as solemn and restrained as before. She had heard that Patrick had changed a lot in these two years, and she thought that when she returned, she would face opposition from other clan members and the elders, but none of that happened.
“What happened in these two years? You all never came to find me, and Patrick just said he was busy,” Emma didn’t like the feeling of everyone knowing a secret that she didn’t know, especially considering that she was the future Luna.
Nicola and Harry exchanged a glance; they seemed to be communicating through the mind line, and when Emma completed the marking with Patrick, she would also be able to have this kind of communication.
“So none of you can tell me?” Emma was clearly upset.
Nicola pushed Harry and he reluctantly swallowed, “The Alpha would blame us. I made an oath.”
Nicola couldn’t stand the so-called oaths between these men, so she said, “Patrick had a hard time these two years. He was nearly punished by the elders’ council.”
“Why?” Emma asked.
“He was very dissatisfied with the ruling about you, one could say he was against it, but that’s the elders’ council’s decision. So he did something,” Nicola recalled Patrick’s decision at the time, also with lingering fear, “He overturned the entire elders’ council, rewriting the rules and laws of this Pack.”
“How did he manage to do that alone?” Emma knew how strict the laws of the Silver Moon Pack were, established by Patrick’s grandfather. The group he wanted to overturn had fought alongside his grandfather and father. Given his youth, the difficulty of overturning them was evident. Not to mention, Jennifer was involved in this ruling, meaning he had to resist the pressure of the entire family all by himself.
“So during that time, I was nearly worked to death!” Harry said, looking exhausted.
“But we emerged victorious, and the Silver Moon Pack welcomed a new beginning, and then he had time to come find you,” Nicola didn’t want the conversation to become too heavy, so she glossed over it and provided only the conclusion.
“Why didn’t he tell me?” She had blamed him for not coming to find her for two years.
“Men and their pride,” Nicola said.
“Nicola, show some respect,” Harry warned.
Emma laughed, agreeing with Nicola’s point of view. But communication was their issue, and she was willing to learn with Patrick.

Nicola and Harry planned to drive Emma back, but she refused; she had someone else to see.
The bakery was still in the same place, but there was only one employee inside. She inquired and learned that Rory was still the manager but had recently left for some reason.
She had a hunch that he had left to avoid her, so she left her contact information, hoping that when the boss returned, they could have a chat.
On her way back to the manor, she realized she hadn’t been back in a long time, and the air here was much freer than before. She encountered many people on the way, all of whom knew she was the future Luna. They showed her respect and didn’t stare at her uncomfortably. It made her feel strange yet accepted.
Everything in the manor was still the same; her room was just as comfortable. The only change was that Jennifer and Nelson had moved out.
Because of Patrick’s successful reforms and some private agreements, they had promised to move to a villa on the other side of the forest, another property left by Patrick’s father. But they no longer met, and this time when Emma returned, she had no intention of greeting them.
Pretending that they didn’t exist was the best way to handle things.
The wind rose at night, and she heard it might snow soon. The forest would be covered in a white blanket, and then it would be Christmas. Although their werewolf tradition didn’t include such celebrations, Emma loved the atmosphere.
Patrick was busy tonight, so Emma made herself a cup of hot chocolate and went up to the rooftop garden. She sat on the swing chair, gazing at the distant night view.
Occasional howls of patrolling wolves could be heard from the forest, but everything was well.
Wrapped in a blanket, she nearly dozed off, until Patrick lifted her up.
“Darling, it’s cold here. You should go downstairs to sleep.”
Emma sleepily kissed Patrick’s jaw. She knew he was weary, but he still took the time to show her affection.
Patrick lifted her onto his lap, sitting on the swing chair, and gently asked, “Are you still getting used to everything? Is there anything here that makes you uncomfortable?”
“Nothing left. This place makes me feel at ease.”
“After I finish dealing with things, I’ll take you to the small house in the snowy mountains in a week. That’s my mom and dad’s house,” Patrick said, referring to the marking ceremony location.
“Thank you, Alpha.”
Patrick was taken aback by her sudden change in addressing him; he didn’t quite understand. “I don’t understand.”
“I met Harry and Nicola this afternoon. They mentioned you and Jennifer. I can’t believe I knew nothing about it!” Emma tried to keep her tone as calm as possible.
“What did they say?” Patrick clenched his fists, wanting to punish these two for breaking their promises.
“Some things that made me feel pain. Sometimes I feel I’m not fit to be your Luna, I’m still being protected, just like two years ago. Without you, I feel like I have nothing.” Emma spoke, breaking free from Patrick’s embrace, her eyes red as she looked at him. Clearly, she had spent a whole dinner trying to calm herself down, hoping for a peaceful resolution to this disagreement.
“You are fit, you are my Luna,” Patrick knew she was sensitive, so he tried to arrange everything as best as he could, but he didn’t know how to handle her.
“Because you are too good to me. But I am Luna, and this Pack needs me to manage it with you. I don’t want any concealment, even for protection. I can feel happiness, but I should also feel pain with you.”
“Because of my relationship, your only family, your mother, has severed ties with you.”
“Emma, Emma, Emma…” Patrick missed the spell of kissing her eyes, Emma’s tears hurt him, he had made her shed too many tears, this was the last thing he wanted to do.
His comfort couldn’t stop Emma from feeling upset. Emma held his face and asked, “Tell me everything about these two years, okay? Your happiness, your pain, your thoughts.”
Patrick nodded and after a moment’s thought, he said, “As an exchange, can you tell me about your life these past two years?”
“Deal.”
Patrick proposed they bathe together. They had a very large bathroom with a huge bathtub that could accommodate five people.
The hot water was still in the tub. Emma hesitated as she undressed. The last time they had sex, it was driven by alcohol, but their bond would resolve these lingering emotions.
She craved Patrick’s body. Determined, she quickly removed her nightdress and panties, walking directly into the water. Patrick was already half-kneeling at the edge of the pool, picking up the shower to rinse her hair. His touch was gentle, relaxing her scalp. Emma closed her eyes, enjoying the service of this Alpha, saying, “During those two years at the Blue Halo Pack, I went out to study and waited for my wolf to return. Nothing special.”
“Did you have a boyfriend?”
“Yes.” Emma felt his hand pause and she suppressed a laugh.
“How many?”
“One.”
“Any…”
“No. Other than you, anyone’s touch made me feel nauseous. So we broke up soon.” Emma reached back to touch Patrick’s hand. Her reassurance calmed the jealous Alpha somewhat.
That night, Emma gave herself to him, and Patrick felt his cock harden again.
“I didn’t have much special in those two years, except missing you. What about you? I want to know about your experiences.”
Patrick sighed. “I don’t want you to be afraid and upset.”
“I am your Luna, you need to trust me. The love you give me shouldn’t only be sweet; I should also share your pain and sorrow. Similarly, I will also tell you things we shouldn’t hold back. You still see me as that 16-year-old girl from two years ago.”
Patrick was always decisive. As an Alpha, his control and decision-making abilities were unquestionable, but he couldn’t hold out for too long against Emma. “You are right. Maybe it’s me who hasn’t grown.”
Patrick compromised, taking off his shirt, revealing his muscular physique, the tight lines captivating Emma, she couldn’t wait to touch him.
But there was an almost 10-inch scar on his chest, crossing his heart.
“How did this happen?”
Patrick stepped into the water, and Emma noticed that his back was also covered with crisscrossing scars, each one daunting, as if to tell others of the dangerous battles he had been through.
Emma touched those scars, making Patrick feel itchy. His breathing became rapid, his body hot, he wanted to make love to Emma right there.
“How did you get these?” Emma asked.
“Some are from previous battles, and some, from when I was reforming the Elder Council.”
“How?”
“They refused to step down, they imprisoned me, I escaped, and they sent their men to chase me into the forest.”
“How dare they? You are the Alpha!”
“The Alpha won’tdisappear, only the Alpha named Patrick will disappear.”
Emma hugged Patrick from behind, feeling the uneven texture of his scars against her face, his body temperature, and his heartbeat. No wonder he didn’t take his shirt off that night; he was afraid she would see this grim past.
Emma’s touch made Patrick’s scars sensitive, giving him a tingling comfort, and his breathing became heavy.
“What about your mother?”
“She joined forces with the Elder Council. She didn’t want to kill me, but she didn’t want me to complete this reform. It would threaten her authority.”
“Was it for me?”
“No, for the Pack. As you said, there are too many class issues in this Pack. We shouldn’t concede so much power to the nobles. It’s hard for the younger werewolves to believe their efforts will receive appropriate rewards,” Patrick said.
“She is my family, but she made a mistake and she needs to bear the consequences. You are also my family, and if you are hurt, I will be upset. Besides, we will have a baby, grandchildren… we have too many people to protect.” Patrick’s words always made sense, and he imagined Emma’s place in the future, which was what she wanted.
“Let’s make love,” Emma felt it was time for a perfect ending and kissed Patrick.
“As you wish, my queen,” Patrick said, squeezing her breasts firmly and kissing her back.
As Patrick’s hard penis entered her body, he said, “I feel like this is my home.” A very sensual and romantic confession.
“I love you, Patrick,” Emma closed her eyes, feeling his rhythm in her body, responding affectionately.
Afterward, they made love many times and had children.
As winter turned to spring, the Alpha and Luna of the Sliver Moon Pack would continue to change, but their love would remain unchanging, like the eternal cycle of the rising and setting sun and moon.
