As for how Edward later managed to snatch Emma back from Patrick, that’s another story.
Emma’s coma this time was only due to exhaustion; her injuries were not severe, with two broken ribs and a fractured right hand.
So, Emma could be discharged tomorrow. She had been asleep in the hospital for two days, and after waking up, she rested for two days. Dr. Brown sighed, remarking that young werewolves have strong self-healing abilities.
Nancy and Dan came to visit her halfway through, bringing flowers, grateful for everything Emma had done. Dan’s leg was still a bit awkward, but the doctor said it could gradually recover to normal through rehabilitation exercises.
Florence visited the most, which made Emma suspect whether she had obtained a holiday from Edward. However, she was pleased; Florence often brought food made by Jeff, all healthy items like yogurt and bread.
But Patrick hadn’t shown up in the past couple of days. Florence told Emma that he hadn’t left, seeming to need to discuss matters regarding the two Pack alliances with Edward.
“Do you like him?” Florence, as always, was straightforward.
“I don’t know. Florrie, can we not discuss this?” Emma still didn’t want to mention Patrick, just as she hadn’t brought up what happened in the Sliver Moon Pack after her return. Florence thought it must be a very painful memory.
Florence’s voice softened as she pulled Emma into her arms. “Darling, if you don’t want to talk about it, you don’t have to.”
“Florrie, I’m not trying to conceal, I just don’t know how to bring it up. Some things are absurd.” Emma shook Florence’s hand slightly, with a hint of contentment. She didn’t want Florence to think she was intentionally hiding anything.
“Discharged tomorrow, I and Jeff will come over?” Florence and Jeff have a car and can pick up Emma.
“No need, thanks. Edward said he would arrange for someone to come over,” Emma said as she packed her things.
But when she saw the person who came to pick her up from the hospital, she regretted not letting Florence come back to pick her up.
It was Patrick.
He brought a bouquet of flowers, standing at the door of the ward. Compared to the day they met, he was wearing a dark black satin shirt today, paired with casual trousers, his entire appearance more in line with Emma’s impression of him.
When he came to help Emma with her luggage, she noticed his full chest muscles, feeling the long-lost heat engulf her body once again. When she was in the Sliver Moon Pack, she always openly admired Patrick’s perfect physique.
She didn’t refuse Patrick’s attentiveness. After bidding farewell to the doctor, she got into his rather expensive-looking black SUV.
“How do you feel?”
“Okay,” Emma said, biting the straw of her coffee, opening the car window so that both their scents wouldn’t fill the car. Since becoming a wolf, Emma had become sensitive to the smell of her kind, not to mention the strong scent emanating from Patrick that could directly put her into heat. Emma didn’t know if her own scent similarly attracted Patrick.
After she got into the car, Patrick leaned in to fasten her seatbelt, their proximity close enough for her to feel his breath, and Patrick’s almost entire body was against her chest. With a werewolf’s hearing, he probably could hear her excited heartbeat.
“Last time I came was two years ago; things change quickly here, they’ve gotten better,” Patrick said as he drove on the empty road, noticing the increased number of buildings on both sides.
“Edward has been working on this,” Emma replied, finding the question too dull; he should have said something more exciting.
“Do you like music?” Patrick asked.
“Sure.”
Patrick chose a popular band, the first song with a wild style, the lead singer’s deep voice stirring the blood.
“I didn’t know you still liked this type of music,” Emma said, somewhat surprised.
Patrick looked ahead and smiled, “What type did you think I’d like?”
“Classical music? Like Chopin, Mozart. At most, listening to some opera.”
“Do you see me as some kind of old-fashioned person?”
“You are, a melancholic werewolf prince in a castle,” Emma teased, but soon she laughed, infecting Patrick, who also laughed heartily.
The tense atmosphere in the car was suddenly broken, and the two spoke about music and interests as if they had returned to the past.
“Emma, I’m sorry. My mother did something wrong. They didn’t have the authority to expel you from the Pack,” Patrick finally mentioned the matter.
“The past is the past,” Emma pretended to be calm, but she had already clenched the straw, wrinkling the cup in her hand.
“When I woke up, you were already gone, and my mother even sent Shirley to ambush you halfway. I’ve already expelledShirley and her family. As for the elders, I need to make some reforms. My mother has also received the punishment she deserves,” Patrick rambled, finally laying out his situation.
“Then you truly are an outstanding Alpha,” Emma replied indifferently.
The hospital was not far from Emma’s home, and the car had already arrived in front of Emma’s house. She had no intention of continuing to discuss Patrick’s Pack.
“Emma,” Patrick tightly grasped her hand as she tried to undo her seatbelt, his face turning red as he struggled to control his breathing.
“Patrick, let go!” Emma’s voice was stern, her wolf also wanting to come out.
Patrick snapped out of it, releasing Emma. “I’m… I’m sorry,” he looked at Emma. “Let’s talk, Emma.”
“Two years ago, everything ended, Patrick. I appreciate your saving me, and I’m grateful for what you’ve done for our Blue Halo Pack,” Emma once again refused his request to talk.
Patrick, somewhat resigned, said, “You can’t do this! Emma, I know I messed up. I didn’t handle my mother and your issues well. I was too arrogant, thinking that as long as I was around, you’d be fine.”
“It’s too late! Patrick, what’s the point of saying all this now? The damage to me has already been done. I don’t know how to face you. Two years and I still often dream of the day I was expelled,” Emma said, controlling her trembling hands.
“I trusted you, I thought I would be accepted. I risked my life to save you from the forest. I thought we would have a better future afterwards, but your mother, she took away my last hope, let others humiliate me!! Exiling me, hunting me down! Am I just a disposable whore to be cast aside?!” Emma finally spoke these words she had been holding in for two years.
She had always fantasized about their reunion and what she would say.
Patrick had no intention of arguing with her. His expression was pained; he couldn’t contain himself and clenched his fists, pounding the steering wheel, and the car’s horn let out a long, piercing honk.
“Emma, I know their wrongdoings, I’ve taken care of them. I hope you can come back.”
“What identity do I have to come back to? I’m already an adult. If there’s a mind to bring me back, where were you these two years? You had plenty of time and opportunity to find me, to explain,” Emma stared into Patrick’s eyes, making sure he wouldn’t evade or lie.
“Darling, these two years, I’ve been busy,” Patrick said helplessly.
“Then continue to be busy. Your Pack needs you!” Emma said as she packed her bag, ready to get out of the car, but she found the door was locked. “What are you doing?! Open the door!”
Emma frantically kicked and pounded on the car door. Patrick unbuckled his own seatbelt.
Before Emma could turn around, he forcefully turned her and kissed her.
Emma couldn’t break free. Patrick’s kiss was forceful, even allowing his tongue to enter her mouth, teasing her palate.
Emma let out a sob; she felt conflicted. Patrick’s kiss excited her, even comforted her, but she was still angry. So she bit down hard, tasting the metallic tang of Patrick’s blood.
“Ugh!” Patrick felt the pain, but he didn’t want to let go of Emma. Gradually, Emma’s struggle weakened, her eyes dampened by this kiss.
Patrick released Emma, gently caressing her tear-streaked face, still as pale and cold as he remembered.
“You miss me, don’t you? Baby, you miss me as much as I miss you,” Patrick kissed her hand repeatedly, asking continuously.
“Yes,” Emma no longer hid it, but so what? She had already decided not to return to the Silver Moon Pack.
“Then why?”
“If I come back with you, what status do I have? Your sister? Your lover? Like Shirley?” Emma burst out with a series of questions.
“My family, my lover, become my Luna. I believe you feel it,” he said, caressing Emma’s neck, where their werewolf glands were. When they combined, as long as they bit each other in this place, they would be thoroughly marked.
With his calloused hands, Patrick touched her sensitive gland, making her feel safe and comfortable; she knew her wolf also approved of Patrick.
“I can’t.”
“What are you still hesitating for? Whatever problems there are, I can solve them. I don’t want to make things difficult for you.”
Unable to bear it after every argument, he always looked at her with those eyes, softening her heart. “Don’t say these things that make me feel uncomfortable. You promised to let me choose, and I choose the Blue Halo Pack; this is my home.”
Seeing her determination, Patrick, after a long silence, gave up and opened the car door.
