“I thought I told you to bring her home!” Kasan boomed.
“She is home,” Kenley replied, a lopsided grin on his lips. Without much restraint on strength, he pushed me forward and my body collided with Kasan’s. I looked up at him and indeed, his strict demeanour and fierce ebony eyes still caused a stirring in my core… damn. What I’d give to have him fu-
No, no, no! What I should be thinking of is why he’s here… in MY house, not fantasizing about what I want to do with him! Ugh!
I shook my head to rid myself of the highly unnecessary thoughts floating in my head and quickly shuffled two steps away from him, my eyes taking the opportunity to run over his figure.
Okay, so it definitely isn’t the time to fantasize about such things, not when he looks like this.
A rifle was resting on his shoulder… that I have no problem with since it only made him look badass and sexy. However, the fresh, red crimson liquid that stained his shirt instigated a certain fear that I only ever felt a few years back when I heard the rather unfortunate news that my grandma had developed cancer.
I couldn’t be sure if he had cuts anywhere on his body, but I knew for a fact that the blood constructed handprints on his shirt could not have been his own. Someone had obviously felt the wrath of those bruised knuckles he was openly displaying.
… and I think I know who.
With a hurried speed to my movements, I brushed by his indignant form to scurry inside. My gaze rotated around the room and spotted dad’s beaten body sprawled out on the floor and mom’s seemingly untouched one hovering over him as she wept.
Bathing in overwhelming shock, my hands flew up to cover my mouth.
Kasan did this? He’s the one dad has been trying to get away from all this time? My lips quivered a bit when it dawned on me… I slept with the man who wants us dead, the man who’s so ruthless that people even call him the Devil!???
Purple bruises covered Dad’s swollen cheeks and his thin lips were split as blood drained from both sides of them, meeting his skin. Blood also littered his clothes in small spots but on his thigh, a large rounded fleck of red tainted his wrinkled pants. He had obviously gotten severely injured there and was now bleeding profusely.
Not knowing what else to do, I rushed over to his battered form. Mom’s eyes immediately widened when she saw me, but I didn’t mind her, instead seeking to calm my nerves with my trembling index finger that reached out and pressed against his nostrils. Feeling him breathe against my skin, I let out a relieved, shaky breath.
I looked over to mom’s distraught form as I moved to retract my hand but father’s bloodied one reached out, loosely grasping mine. My surprised gaze quickly shifted towards him, noticing that his eyes had cracked open. His split lips parted to let out words that I could hardly hear.
I leaned down, bringing my ears closer to his mouth. “R-R…” He swallowed slowly, “R-Run.”
He was telling me to run? And leave him here to die?
I immediately refused to comply to his demand by moving back a bit and shaking my head vigorously, my eyes glossed over with tears. He isn’t the best father in the world, but I still love him, no matter how many times I constantly shoot anger filled words at him.
Mother’s hand soon pressed against the left side of my face, turning it towards her. Her eyes were pleading towards me so much that I didn’t even need to hear her words in order to shake my head once more.
“I’m not leaving you here to die!”
“Don’t worry about us, we’ll be fine. Just get out of here, Clara.” She quickly whispered, but the firmness of my resolve still remained unwavering. I’m not going to just leave them and run away like some coward.
… I’ll help them the only way I can.
Upstairs and in the second room on the left, there’s around four guns stashed away in dad’s drawer. I have absolutely no skills in hand to hand combat, but I know how to fire a gun. In fact, I’m an expert at it. Constant training made that possible.
Dad doesn’t seem to be able to walk so the only option I have is to kill each and every one of these intruders one by one. If I’m able to retrieve the guns before that maniac returns from the front door, then I’ll definitely deal with these motherfuckers without breaking a sweat!… hopefully.
“You have to hurry! Or he’ll k-” she didn’t get to finish her sentence because a sudden series of claps filled the air. I bit my lip until my teeth pierced through it.
The retrieval of the gun is now a little over on the impossible side.
Despite that, I stood to my feet, spinning around to glare at the man before me. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” I screamed at him, my eyes visibly baring irrepressible anger. Who the hell does he think he is? How dare he do this to my father? How dare he intrude in our home?
Unfazed, he audaciously winked at me then shifted his eyes to where my parents resided. “Bravo, Robby! You’ve definitely caught me by surprise. I never thought you had it in you.” He grinned. “I was honestly going to leave you be, but I’ve just been informed that you both have managed to deceive me. I guess I should reconsider, don’t you think?”
He placed his thumb and index finger on his chin and looked to the floor, seemingly pretending to be deep in thought. I didn’t know what he was talking about and I really didn’t care. My mind was set on one thing… and that was the guns. Now that he’s looking away, I can’t miss this chance!
Despite knowing the risks, I took the God-given opportunity to inch towards the stairs, but unfortunately, I was only able to take two tiny steps closer before he abruptly lifted his head with that same aggravating grin on his face, his eyes bulging out as if an idea had just popped into his head.
It seemed luck was on my side because he didn’t appear to have noticed that I moved.
“Tell you what…” My attentive gaze watched as his eyes slitted slyly. “Since I’m the forgiving type, I’ll spare one of you, but I’ll allow your beautiful daughter over here,” he shifted his eyes to me, “… to choose.”
The anger in my eyes retracted and was replaced by utter disbelief.
He wanted me to choose between mom and dad?!
He’s a Devil indeed…
