***ZANE’S POV***
Motherfucker!
Staring at London made my stomach churn. I want to close my eyes and disappear but that isn’t happening.
London’s eyes are on me and that isn’t changing shit about.
“Hi, Zane,” she says sitting upright.
“Hi?” I call out frowning.
London jumps out of the bed and rushes towards the door. Sensing that she was about to run, I first, blocked her way out.
“Get the fuck out of the way,” she cries out looking frantically, checking for something to use it attack me.
“Wait, London,” she says angrily.
“No. You bloody idiot, get out of the freaking way,” she shouts.
Annoyed, I get out and London starts running downstairs. She takes the corridor that leads to Rio’s wing and starts pounding on their door.
“What the… London, you can’t do that, they are sleeping,” I say trying to be rational.
“I swear, Zane, if you get any step closer to me, I will break that cock of yours and feed those balls to the dogs outside,” she threatens.
If the situation was different, I would have laughed at how wild London’s eyes were. But this isn’t the moment.
“Mia? Rio? Open up please,” she cries out swiftly.
I hear muffling sounds from the other side of the room and Mia swings the door open.
“London? What is the matter?” she asks concerned filling her voice.
Shuddering in fear, I watch my wife fly into the arms of someone else.
“Zane has gone crazy, he is trying to trade me for my boy,” she cries out hugging Mia.
Rio looks at me and we know that look we share.
This isn’t what was going to happen, London isn’t wrong but freaking out like this doesn’t make it much right either.
“Baby, come on, get back here let’s talk this out,” I say my heart pounding in my chest.
Rio shakes his head and coming outside, he places his hand gently on London’s shoulder.
“Why don’t we go downstairs and talk about it, huh?” he asks and I release the breath I didn’t know I was holding.
“Of course,” I prompt out.
When we sit, Mia hurries and makes a large badge of coffee.
“I will make hot chocolate for London, it will help her relax,” I say as she leaves the kitchen.
When I place the milk and chocolate mixture into London’s cup, I make sure the sleeping pills are incorporated.
I am sorry that I have to drug her, but it is the only choice I have right now.
“Here, have this,” I say softly.
London looks at me for a moment, frowns, and then, takes the cup from me mumbling her thanks.
Rio looks at me and then, back to my wife.
“What happened?” he asks no one in particular but London starts talking.
“London is planning on trading me for our son, or how he called it… His son,” she says in utter disgust.
Mia gasps in shock and she shoots a dagger at me.
“Is that true, Zane?” she inquires closing her eyes briefly.
I don’t reply to that.
“Are you sure about that?” Rio demands.
“Ask him. He is just sitting over there,” she muses.
Three pairs of eyes are looking at me and I speak.
“London, this is all part of a plan and I am sorry you found out that way,” I say my apology reaching my eyes.
“You still haven’t told me who Cobra is. Is he the one who will take me after you deliver me?” she asks crying.
When the sobs reduce, she takes a long gulp of her hot cocoa.
I want to reach out to her, my wife. It breaks my heart every time I see those glossy ugly tears rolling down her cheeks, but this is for us, I am making this deal to bring back our son home.
Bracing myself, I speak out. It might not be absolute truth, but damn, it will at least be half honesty and half lie.
“I’ve been busy with my connections today, and one of them got me to talk to Oliver. The man assured me that Dante was fine, but was scared. Oliver will let us have Dante if we have a trade,” I finish.
Watching London, several emotions spewed through her face and she settled on being tired and calm. Sipping more of her drink, I like that she is doing so.
“Is that where I come in, Zane?” London asks her voice so small that I almost missed it.
I nod.
That gesture makes her mad.
“Don’t nod at me, husband. Look at me and tell me squarely that, yes, this is where you offer your wife to her deranged ex to get back your son,” she screams at me.
“London!” Mia warns out.
She ignores Mia and keeps drinking from the ceramic mug in her hands.
Rio is calm and that makes me bothered if he wants to help me, or is he just fucking going to sit and watch my wife call me out?
“I am sorry, baby,” I say when her eyes start shaking severely.
“You aren’t sorry, Zane. You can’t give me away,” she cries, her shoulders shaking from the impact.
Moving to sit next to her, I circle my arms around hers and whisper into her hair, making sure that my voice is convincing enough to draw her to slip.
“When you wake up, this would all be a dream and you will forget that you have ever been so mad at me in the first place,” I break out.
“I am not feeling sleepy,” she states matter of fact.
“Is that so?” I ask helping her head to my shoulder and kissing it gently.
London yawns and I remove the cup from her hands.
“Why do I feel suddenly so tired and weak?” she asks pushing her head upward so that she could see me.
“I don’t know, honey, but I promise you that you will feel better when next you open your eyes,” I murmur placing tempting kisses on her forehead.
