***ZANE’S POV***
“I call bullshit to that, London. No one is fucking going to hurt Micah now that we are here. Where did they say he is?” I ask my voice a deep shade of authority and I warn my wife not to give me a wrong answer.
She doesn’t know how I felt when I heard Reaper howling out for help only to find out that she had hit him on the groin when he had tried stopping her from leaving.
“Where?” I ask and London shivers.
Good. This is only the beginning. She would know worse pain when we get home because she wouldn’t be able to sit for about two weeks, give or take.
Pointing behind her, she says, “In that car behind me,”
Her reply isn’t forced, just annoyed.
Pulling her by the arm, London fights to break free but I don’t let her get her way with me.
“Stop fucking fighting me, lady,” I bark at her, my breath flashing her face.
“I was doing this, Zane. You didn’t have to show up here like some fucking hero, now, Oliver would kill Micah,” she spits out in my face.
Staring at her in confusion, I wondered if what she was saying was the truth, I know how this works and unless they attached first, this wasn’t going to turn out into a blood bath.
“Boss? Boss over here, you need to see this,” a dark voice calls out to me.
Walking past London, I head to the car and the head of a man lulled outside, his breathing erratic.
When his face is lifted to the light, I feel the bile rising to my throat. I was going to vomit.
“What the fuck?” I asked softly, as I looked closer to the man’s face.
London was running past me to the man in the car.
“Micah? Jesus, please open your eyes,” she cries as the small groans of the man’s voice fill us.
Something wasn’t right at all./
When the hurt eyes of the man stared at us, I knew this was it. A bad set up.
“Get away from him, that is not Micah,” I scream rushing towards London with the speed of light.
She fights me when I try to claim her, to carry her away from this commotion.
“That is Micah, Zane. What are you talking about?” she asks crying as she wants to go back.
The man set to act like Micah breakdown into tears, his voice shaky as he responds to our doubts
“I am not Micah, and yes, this is all a trap,” he states.
Standing tall, I frown at him. “What do you mean?” I inquire curling my lips angrily at him.
“It means this diversion worked. The target is in your house and you just let him go so easily,” he says grinning annoyingly.
I try to piece the words together, and then, it dawns on me.
“DANTE!” I scream out as anger fuels through me.
It is then I see the button the little monster of a man is holding in his right hand. He is shaking it making sure that I see it.
‘This is a nightmare of a fucking reality,’ I think as I bark out orders.
“Take cover, he has a bomb control in his hand,” I say as London starts running.
We aren’t fast because the explosion catapults us to the other side of the field and the large chink of the car the man had been in scatters through the air.
Covering London with my body, I know that is too much, but it gives her a semblance of some protection.
A mind throbbing sound fills the air and my throbbing ears almost render me deaf.
“London. Wake up,” I scream as I remove my body from London’s body.
Dust enters our windpipes, but not before my men start grunting and growling.
“This was a setup. We just walked into a trap,” I bark out.
London is quivering beneath me.
“Rio is at home, oh God, I hope he takes care of Dante before Oliver gets his filthy paws on it.
I stop, my head shining hard all of a sudden. London seems to identify my distress because she turns to me with focused eyelids.
“What, did I say something wrong?” she asks not figuring it out.
“Rio…” I trail when I hear him running towards up.
“Well fuck!” London screeches out loud.
Only Mia was left home with Kayla and Dante.
I should never have followed my wife out here, but I was going to end this whole shitty show. I bet now, Oliver was going to end my family.
“What happened?” Rio asks his face filled with shock.
“They sent the wrong Micah and the guy had a a bomb implanted in the car. He tapped it out and sent us all flying to the ground,” I confess.
Rio shudders, looking at my men recovering from the shock.
“And…?” he asks seeing the hesitation in my eyes.
“We need to call back home, Rio. It seems like Oliver’s target was to take Dante. He just played us a dirty round here,” I state furiously.
Fear consuming Rio, he removes his phone and dials Mia’s number.
“Come on, reply, please. Reply,” he begs.
I make silent prayers too and when Mia answers the call, her voice is a distant memory.
“I am sorry, Darling, but Dante is gone. Some men came here and forced me to give them the boy. When I hesitated, they used the back of the gun to hit my temple with it. Son of a bitch, it hurts like hell,” she cries out.
“How is Kayla?” Rio asks frowning.
We were now in the car, speeding off to the house.
“I don’t know what happened but she was locked in the coat cabinet. She had been crying for long, I guess that was the main reason why I woke up,” she says in pain.
“We will be there in a few minutes time. Brace yourself, Mia, I am coming for you,” Rio says softly.
My heart tugs at his intimate moment with his wife, I can’t help but feel jealous.
