Chapter 146

Book:Daddy Zane Published:2024-6-5

***LONDON’S POV***
Mia had baby fever, she just kept her hands on my baby and I loved the fact that Dante was loving the attention.
“You are going to spoil him,” I tease her and she chuckles.
“Just like Zane. I know. I can’t help it,” she stutters.
Smiling at her, I grabbed the bottle of juice and poured it into a glass, I took a healthy sip.
“I can help you with the last minute things, but then, anything that comes up, you will have to sort it out yourself, I hope you know that,” she says staring at me.
“Of course, I do. See, you know why we couldn’t do this home at Lake Side City, Mia. The fact that Oliver hasn’t made a move yet doesn’t mean he isn’t looking for the right time to attack. Right now, Zane wouldn’t take the chance of sitting around and waiting for the man to pull up, remove his Glock, and shoot us,” I explained.
Mia nodded. Keeping Dante on the play pen and helping Kayla to be beside him, they start playing.
“Why do you think Rio wanted Zane to be here?” I ask holding my breath.
Mia stares at me in shock at my question before she regains her composure. Then, swirling my arm in her hand, she stares at me straight in the eyes.
“Something about a particular shipment coming up. I don’t know when and what’s in the trailer. But I heard it’s big. Zane is in charge of it and it must be flawless,” she finishes.
I noticed that Zane was not only into drugs but had started selling guns too. The shock that had pulled on my face when I figured out what my husband was into had left me in awe for days.
Right now, I hope that isn’t what is about to go down.
“Let’s make some pasta and leave the men to work, please,” I beg, avoiding the topic.
***ZANE’S POV***
Walking into Rio’s office, I noticed the tension in the man’s shoulders and I frowned.
“What’s happening?” I inquire.
“The man I put in charge of Oliver thinks he is about to hit us hard,” he mutters.
My eyes widen in shock.
“Why now? He has gone mute in action for about a year. He almost ruined my marriage and now he is coming back? What the fuck is wrong with that asshole?” I bark out slamming my hands on the table.
“You should come down let us come up with a plan, Zane,” Rio says gritting his teeth.
My head is like a cloudy fog, I can’t control the way I feel anymore, but I want to get a grasp on Oliver’s plan.
“Can you play the record, please?” I beg, my mouth going dry.
If I tell London right now, that will freak her out. I better not start a war I know I would tamper down with my hands or tongue.
“Sure,” he states.
But when the records came in, I frowned noticing that they both spoke in encrypted words.
Oliver was chatting with a Russian fellow, but none of those words made sense to me. He called Michael’s name a few times, but that was it.
“It’s just as if he knew we were going to listen to this,” I mouth out, anger furrowing my brows.
“Yeah! He was speaking to us directly. If not, he still would have been missing the light of the world,” Rio blurts out.
My skin crawls, and I feel the headache almost blinding and the rage that swarms me, it was enough to destroy this space.
I open my mouth to speak but a rasp knock comes at the door and I look at it.
“Zane? Come on answer please,” I hear London’s voice begging on the other side of the line.
Widening my eyes, I leave the chair and nod at Rio. “Excuse me, Rio. My wife needs me,” I state leaving.
“London?” I call out softly as I grab her arms, staring at her face.
It was pale, she looked sick, or more, scared.
“Hey, baby, what’s going on?” I call out bringing her head to my chest.
When she hugs me tight, I breathe in her hair.
“Could we go to our room? Mia is looking after Dante. I need you, please,” she begs.
I had never seen so much hurt in her voice at one time and I knew I had to satisfy her.
Sweeping her bridal style, I take the balcony that leads to the guest area and the wing Rip had provided for us this weekend.
Inside the bedroom, I enter, and using my leg, I kick it shot.
I place London on the bed and stare at her.
“What got you terrified?” I demand frowning.
“I heard Oliver is on the run for us. Fuck! What if he thinks he could hurt us this time?” she demands shivering.
That’s it, the fear I knew was going to spread out as wild fire. I fucking hate seeing her so vulnerable.
“Shhh! You should calm down, baby, there is nothing to be afraid of,” I say softly.
“So it’s true then,” London says in a confirming tone.
I nod swiftly. She grows paler and mad.
“We need to run, Zane. That asshole would ruin us more than he did the last time. I bet he takes pleasure from seeing us sad,” she says.
I hate that London doesn’t have enough fate in me. “I can protect you, London. In fact, it is my duty to make sure you are fine,” I state.
“I know that, but fuck if this little part in me doesn’t want to scream and go to the bush just knowing that safety is no longer on our side,” she wails.
Sitting beside her, I draw little circles on her body, warming her up and if she wasn’t so paranoid, she would have noticed her body changing to me.
“What are you doing?” she asked breathlessly.
“Trying to make my wife calm down. Is it working?” I demand staring at her.
“Yes,” she murmured.
