“Hello, little mate.”
Damon was smiling. Damon was literally SMILING from ear to ear! Sarah’s lips parted to let out an astonished gasp, her wide eyes unable to control studying every twist and curve of his features. His cheeks drew upwards and his full lips thinned the further they stretched across his face, forming two dimples that she knew absolutely nothing about. His eyes were no longer hazel, but golden and as she stared into them, she could decipher three emotions dwelling there… excitement, intrigue and something else that seemed pretty close to desire. Despite how much she was entrapped by his abysses, she managed to break eye contact and draw her gaze downward. The two odd things she noticed were that his fingers kept twitching and he was bouncing on his toes… not in a creepy way though, more like he was overflowing with excitement…. And he almost seemed as if he could hardly keep himself from pouncing at her.
But why would he pounce at her? Could it be that he’s finally decided that it’s time to get rid of her? Sarah shook her head in disagreement with her thoughts. No one could decide to kill someone in the small length of time it took him to close the door and reopen it. But Damon was the one in question. His mood could change in merely a second! She could attest to that.
Sarah drifted from her thoughts and her whole body went into an emotional catastrophe when Damon started to advance towards her. His full blown smile degraded to a smirk and his feet moved slowly, one heavy step at a time. A cold feeling descended over Sarah’s whole body as she felt his predator-like aura dissipate in the ambience surrounding her. Suddenly, the air seemed like it was slowly filtering out of the room and her sweaty palms rubbed themselves against her clothed thighs as nervousness took its residence.
“W-what are y-”
Damon cut her off in an instant. “I’ve been dying to meet you, Sarah. It’s a pity that Damon didn’t mention that I existed.” He chuckled at his words as he continued to approach, his intense eyes transfixed on Sarah. “I bet he would have tried harder to keep me at bay if he knew what I have in store for us tonight… hmmm?”
After his words processed in her head, Sarah took a step back then another and another. Damon frowned at the movements but she didn’t relent. Since the day started, she had been experiencing many creepy things… this one was the worst of it all. She couldn’t understand a thing he was saying, no matter how hard she tried to put two and two together. It was either he had gone completely crazy in an instant or he had been possessed by a ghost. Those were the only possibilities. Why else would he keep mentioning Damon as if he wasn’t actually talking about himself? And why else would he talk like this was their first meeting?
The heel of her left foot collided against the other, causing her to lose her balance and stagger backwards. Her thoughts jumped out the window and her heart nearly leaped out of her chest. Hitting the floor was a must, but it all didn’t play out as she expected. Just as she was about to land on the concrete floor, a warm hand slipped around her waist.
Sarah finally released the breath she had been holding, her chest heaving up and down as she tried to escape the shock of nearly falling backwards. And then, in a few seconds when she finally realized that she had been saved by Damon, her eyes refocused on the world around her. Damon was leaning over her slant body, an unnerving grin on his lips as he looked down at her with his amused golden eyes.
“This reminds you of that time when Damon saved you from falling off the stairs, right? But before you start comparing me with Damon, let me just tell you that I’m more spectacular, wayyy more spectacular… I mean, Damon even held you as if you’re some piece of filthy cloth while I –who’s obviously a gentleman– have the courtesy of holding you like you’re a damsel in distress. I bet that by the time we’re done with our business, you’ll like me more than you like Damon. Right Sarah?” He rose a brow in expectance.
“O-our b-business?” Sarah blinked up at him with eyes that held nothing but confusion. She stood still and listened to everything he had to say just now and she still couldn’t tell what he was saying. He didn’t make any sense. Who was better than who? And who was he even talking about?
“But all fun and jokes aside…” His grin crept off his face and his gaze diverted from her face to the crook of her neck. Sarah’s breath hitched. “The mood’s pretty great, don’t you think? It’s the perfect time to mark what’s mine.”
Sarah wasn’t sure what he meant, but she had a feeling that it wasn’t anything good. And when his head dipped down in the direction of her neck, she pushed against his chest with her arms and tried to twist out of his hold. But the weak fight she was putting up, didn’t stop him by a single second.
“W-what-” she was about to ask what he was doing, but then, his hot breath hit the skin of her neck and her words instantly got caught in her throat. His nose then nuzzled into the crook of her neck, grazing over her skin with the soft tip.
There was a stir in Sarah’s core, one that she couldn’t ignore. With his breath against her skin and his skin touching hers, she was bound to be thrown into a pit of desire. She knew that this wasn’t right, especially when it concerns Damon; the man who she was supposed to resent for tossing her aside. But despite that, even she herself doubted that she’d be able to resist Damon’s advances.
She wanted to push him away, she really did, but the strength in her arms seemed to evaporate little by little everytime their skin touched. She swallowed, a tense feeling passing over her.
“It’s nice teasing you, Sarah.” Damon mumbled against her skin, his lips leaving soft kisses on her neck in between his words. “Your smell is already making me feel high.” He licked her skin, drawing a shiver from her being. And then, he eased away from her neck and pulled her up so she was holding up her own weight. However, his hand didn’t leave her waist.
Sarah blinked, steadying herself on her feat. She had wanted him to move his head away from her neck, yet when he actually did, she felt somewhat empty. But that wasn’t what she was supposed to be thinking about right now. Her main concern was Damon. Why did he suddenly seem interested in her all of a sudden? Why did he seem like he actually… wanted her?
And the most confusing of all, why did he seem so different?…. as if he had suddenly become a totally different person.
“I suppose you must be very confused right now, so before anything else, I’ll let you know that I am Damon’s wolf counterpart. We both share the same body but we have totally different personalities so don’t worry,” he winked at her, a broad grin on his lips. “The name’s Liam. Nice to meet you, mate.”
