Malia’s POV
The only thing my mind registered was his low growl and reddening of his irises. In the next minute, I was pinned to the wall with my hands raised above my head. A Yelp of surprise left my lips.
I felt my heart slam hard against its cage as I locked eyes with him.
“You’re too feisty for your own good. I’d love to make you submit. You might not like my method though,” he growled and I shivered, not from fear.
“Or you might,” he added, his gaze travelling along the length of my body.
I felt all the nerve cells of my body jump in excitement from the heat of his gaze.
He smiled as his eyes landed on my chest, showing his fangs.
I knew exactly what he was smiling at. My nipples were already rock hard and were poking through the fabric of my dress.
‘Traitor!’ I mentally berated my body.
“I’d never submit to you, no matter how hard you try to make me,” I challenged.
I regretted those words immediately they left my mouth because as his eyes darkened, I realized I had just added gasoline to the fire.
I tried to free myself from his grasp but my efforts were insignificant, compared to his strength.
“Let me go,” I gritted.
“Or what?”
He lowered his head and I gasped in pleasure when his fangs grazed the side of my neck.
“I accept the challenge. Game on, Malia,” he whispered into my ear.
He released my hands and I whimpered as he trailed a burning path with his fingers, down my arms. My back arched involuntarily as his fingers grazed the sides of my breasts.
“Personally I’m going to have so much fun playing this game and I think you are too, no matter how hard you try to deny it.”
He suddenly stopped the movement of his fingers, straightened and put some space between us.
I nearly moaned out loud in protest.
“Sleep well, Malia,” he said and walked out of the room without stopping to give me a second glance.
Bastard
I didn’t trust my legs to walk just yet. I slid slowly to the ground and waited for the quivering to subside.
The Hawkins brothers were going to be the death of me. There was no doubt about that.
I finally stood up when my body no longer felt like going after Ryder and devouring him.
I slipped my dress off my shoulders and let it drop to the ground. My lingerie came off too and then I walked naked to the bathroom for a much-needed cold shower.
I stepped out of the bathroom not bothering with a towel. I walked to the other window to enjoy the serene view of the dense forest. Serenity was exactly what I needed.
The door suddenly burst open and I jumped in shock turning to face it.
For a moment I stood rooted to the spot in shock. I watched as Ronan’s eyes darkened as he took in my naked form.
The wheels of my brain thankfully started to work again and I hurried to grab a towel.
“You’ve heard of something called knocking,” haven’t you?” I asked, turning to face him.
He looked somewhat disappointed that I had covered up.
“I did knock but I got no response,” he replied, eyes still fixed on me.
“Well, I didn’t hear,” I said.
He shrugged. “It’s not my fault then,”
I flashed him a hard glare.
“Okay fine. I’m sorry,” he apologized.
He didn’t look sorry to me. I shook my head and sighed.
“Just stay here while I get dressed, okay?”
He nodded and I walked into the closet. I donned a pair of shorts and a baggy T-shirt.
Ronan was lying comfortably on my bed when I walked out of the closet.
“So what did my brother want? What happened?” He asked, sitting up on the bed.
I settled beside him and debated whether or not I should tell him.
“If you have to lie, then I’d rather not know,” he said.
His words made me feel guilty. He had been nothing but a good friend to me since I came to the pack.
“My mate sent his troop to come look for me,” I blurted out.
He fell silent for a moment and his eyes became reflective.
“Malia, who were you before you came here?” He asked.
“Luna,” I murmured.
His eyes widened. “Of what pack?”
“I’d rather not say,” I answered.
“Aren’t you going to eat before going to bed?” He asked and I blinked in surprise at the abrupt change in topic.
“I think I’m kind of full from the lunch we had earlier,” I replied.
“So you want to go to bed now? It’s still kinda… early. Just eight pm,” he said.
I nodded. “I’m so tired so I’ll be crashing early tonight.”
He gave me a small smile and got up from the bed. “I should leave you to rest then. Goodnight.”
He planted a kiss on my forehead before leaving my room.
I breathed a sigh of relief grateful that he hadn’t pushed me too hard for answers and went under the covers.
A few moments later I was fast asleep.
I awoke to the sound of a door slammed shut. I sat upright in bed and listened carefully for any other sound.
I heard the unmistakable sound of a glass shattering on the ground and I rolled out of bed.
The sound had come from Ryder’s room.
I walked to the door and gently opened it. I walked to Ryder’s door and placed my ear on it.
All was silent. I took a deep breath and knocked.
“Ryder, are you okay in there?” I asked.
“Go to sleep, Malia. I’m fine,” he called out.
I stood there for a moment and went back to my room when I didn’t hear any more sounds.
I plopped down on my bed and wondered what the hell was going on in that room. He was obviously up to something.
My stomach suddenly growled. Great. I should have snacked on something before going to bed.
I tried and failed to ignore the hunger gnawing at my stomach.
I sighed in resignation and got up from my bed.
