Rumours!

MALIA’S POV
Hours have turned into days and days into weeks. It’s been almost two weeks since I have been here. Not a lot of eventful things have happened in the past days, well except for the fact that I continue going to the training ground and taking lessons with the rest of the soldiers.
We got along well with Derek and not only that, I have managed to discover that they were good friends with Ronan as he was his right-hand guard. No wonder I found the personalities eerily similar. Only someone who could pull a Ronan in Ronan could be friends with him.
And Ryder. Well he had pretty much just ignored me through out these days and the only time I got to see him was when he passed an announcement to the Pack about the extended date of the Luna ceremony due to personal reasons. A lot of people weren’t very pleased with that but what could they have done when the Alpha had the final say? Technically nothing.
It seems this decision he made was not shared with anyone beforehand because even the intending Luna looked shocked to the core as she listened to him speak. She had put up a bit of drama and ended up calming down because there wasn’t anything that she could do.
To cut the tale even shorter, the news just caused a bit of chaos around the pack as people were all set and ready to receive their new Luna, and in the end, it all died down.
Today I was just sitting in my room, getting ready to welcome the boring day as usual when a knock came on my door. Derek and the majority of the soldiers were out to help the neighboring pack chase some rouges out of their pack which was why I opted not to go to the field today. Ronan on the other hand had traveled into the wild for hunting.
These were the only two persons who could come knocking at my door at this hour of the day. The sun was yet to even fully appear in the gloomy sky. I hadn’t even stepped down from my bed yet.
At first, I wanted to ignore, but when I saw that the person was persistently knocking, I had to get up from the bed.
With a low hiss of disapproval, I set my foot on the floor and forced myself up. Taking one slow step at a time in other to allow my tired bones cope with the sudden movement, I reached the door in no time.
I unlocked the door and the person took the liberty of pushing the door toward me the moment I did. It almost rammed on my face but I managed to step out of the way just in time to see who it was before she invited herself into my room and closed the door behind her.
And here I was thinking my day was going to be the usual boring.
“To what do I owe this early morning visit, your Highness?” Keeping in mind Ronan’s words, I addressed her respectfully. Not wanting to come off as rude, I added a pinch of lightness to my tone.
She didn’t honor my words with a reply, instead, she pivoted toward the bed, lowered herself on it, and folded her legs with one on top of the other.
“Who allocated this room to you again?” She questioned, moving her silky hair out of her face so she could have a better view of the room.
“Pardon?” I asked, not because I didn’t hear what she said but because my head was failing to comprehend the sudden question.
“I am not in the habit of repeating myself but I will, just this once, so, be warned” She stated. “Who allocated this room….”
“I heard what you said quite alright, what I am failing to make sense of is how that is your business” I cut her off mid-sentence.
I tried, I truly tried to be as polite as I could but it was still so early in the morning and I was barely awake from sleep.
“Excuse me?” She snarled.
“You are excused” I replied, pointing toward the door with no hesitation. I do not tolerate spoilt brats showcasing their level of stupidity.
“So the rumors I heard about you were true”
I snorted. “It’s quite a shame that someone of high status as you would stoop as low as listening to rumors.” I shook my head in disappointment. “But it’s fine, I am not going to judge. Whatever you hear, keep it to yourself and do as you wish with it, don’t get me involved” I never moved from where I stood beside the door, instead, I folded my hand and rested my back on the door.
“Do you know who I am around here?” the amount of disbelief in her tone confirmed to me that she had never been talked back at, especially not the way I was doing at the moment.
“What do you mean? Of course, I know who are” I waved my hand around and finally moved away from the door and strode toward her. “Aren’t you Ryder’s mistress and might-be-crown Luna in the coming weeks?” I arched my brows and waited for her response.
By now she have realized that I wasn’t like all those ladies who followed behind her at every turn, ready to worship the ground she walked on.
Her face contorted in deep displease. “I will not tolerate such disrespect from a commoner like you who has been abandoned by her pack and left in the forest to die!” She said in-between gritted teeth, surging up from the bed and inching toward me.
“Oh!” I exclaimed. “I now know what rumors you are referring to. Anyways you either state your reason for being in my room or you get the hell out of it, I do not have time to deal with your bullshit” I said, cranking my head to the side and watching her.
